Buy A Bed of Your Own by Kelly, Mij, Mcquillan, Mary (ISBN: 9780340999288) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A children's classic in the making - This book, as with the others in the series ("Atchoo!" and "Where's my Potty?") Are some of the most entertaining pre-school reading I have encountered. Up there with the likes of Giles Andreas' ("Giraffes can't dance", and "The Chimps of Happytown"), in terms of humour, quality of writing, warmth and cleverness. Written, like the others in such a delightful, out-loud readable, poetic form, this story again recounts the tale of Susie Sue, who attempts to go to bed only to find she has a lot of unwanted company in the form of the cow, horse, sheep and goat from previous tales unwilling to tuck down in their own beds. The story unfolds in the most humorous fashion as each animal appears from under the covers complaining about their inability to sleep due to the thoughtlessness of the others. So Susie Sue leads them back to their own bed, tucks them in and then explains how it is not just going to bed but falling asleep that is the trick, only to fall asleep in their bed as part of her demonstration. The animals return the favour by carrying her back to her own bed, explaining how each creature has their place to sleep.....the final page exclaiming Susie Sue asleep in her own bed........ AS YOU SHOULD BE TOO ! The illustrations are beautiful, humorous and warm and add so much to the story, my two year old can't get enough of this book, well all three of these authors efforts. And I can't get enough of reading them. These should become children's classics and I can't recommend highly enough. Not only being great "tools" to deal with toddlers issues (Potty training, manners, bedtimes) they are books that will stay with you through childhood and be long remembered, and I can't think of higher praise than that. Review: Highly recommend this book - This is a really great bedtime read, a favorite of both my son and myself. Beautiful images, lovely rhyming and a very enjoyable storyline. I wanted a book specifically about going to bed as my 19 month old son has recently started fighting bedtime, whereas he used to have such a quick and easy bedtime routine before. Now we incorporate bedtime stories and it really helps him calm down after the day and get used to the idea that he's going to sleep soon. I read this book to him at least two times each night and I have to say I still enjoy reading it as much as he enjoys listening to it and looking at the pictures. I will most definitely be ordering the other books by these authors and hopefully they are just as good.

Effective for getting child into her own bed
My almost 2.5 year old daughter regularly asks for this as a bed time story. She loves the story, especially when I do a silly voice for each character. The story is interesting and engaging and ends up with the main character (a little girl called Susie Sue) sleeping in her own bed. This opens up a discussion with my little girl about her being in her own bed, and she will happily go to sleep in her own bed (although not necessarily stay there all night!).

Superb
Poignant and apt, rhythmic and imaginative. This book tells a lovely story and manages to do it in a clever rhyme. On top of that, it's not too short and allows the young listener to travel through a journey. I really like the way it's written, and the story behind it. Pictures are vibrant too. A great purchase.

Fun rhyming story about bedtime, great for toddlers
My 2 year old (25 months) loves listening to me reading this story to him at bedtime & has started randomly reciting bits and pieces of it while we're out & about. We will soon be transitioning to a toddler bed so I'm hoping it will help! In any case, the book has a fun rhyming scheme throughout, unlike some baby books I don't get bored reading it over and over (yet..!), toddler laughs when the sheep says "let go of my nose" "Plot" synopsis: A little girl (Suzy-Sue) is struggling to get to sleep in her bed - but that's because there are 4 large animals who have sneaked into bed with her. She marches them back to their own bed & then tries to get them to go to sleep... falling asleep herself in the process. There are no adults/family mentioned in the story.

A favourite bedtime story
I bought this to encourage my two year old to start spending more time in his own bed trather than Mummy and Daddy's bed. The book has become a firm favourite at bedtime for my son and it may be a coincidence but he is definitely sleeping better in his own bed. And has actually started to sleep right the way through on some nights.

27Nov, 15 ABoYO paperback book just arrived intended for Xmas for our 3 yr old grandaughter. I've just had a quick read through. It is very well thought out bedtime story with rhyming verse in most places. Option to use any toys also as part of the story but not absolutely necessary. Well thought out in my opinion. Price is about right too.

Brilliant Book for my 2 year old
This book is my one of my son's favourites - he absolutely loves this and asks for it every evening before bed. Because it's all in rhyme, he's becoming so familiar with the words that he's even finishing the sentences. He loves identifying all the animals too. A definite must for all parents to read at bedtime, this book is enjoyable for Mums and Dads too!

Little ones will love the animals and learn where some animals sleep. They are introduced to the idea of having one's own bed. A valuable lesson for sure!

My two year-old adores this book. She asks for it as often as her other favorites, the classic Good Night Moon, and I Dare You! by Nicole Maubert. All other books in her large collection are frequently in rotation, but those three have a place of honor. The text is all written in a very kid-friendly all-caps font that swirls and weaves through the illustrations. It's the only book we own where my toddler seems as interested in the text as she is in the pictures. It also encourages parents to play up the voices - for example, the word "yawn" is written YAAAAAAWN in text that gradually tapers off, just like a real yawn would. The book also has lots of opportunities for parents to practice their voice acting (in our house, each animal has their own voice, which my daughter loves!). The story starts off very silly but transitions into a much calmer read about halfway through the book, when Susie Sue narrates a story to put the animals to sleep. It's a great trick to get our daughter in the right frame of mind for bed - she can start out giggling and fully attentive, and then calm down as the characters do. I do wish it came in a hardback edition, as our own copy is only a year old but is already well-loved.

Me and my kid loooove this book and all the other ones in the series. I love it because it is educational without preaching a boring sermon, and my kids love it because it is fun, and cute and relatable. Every time my girls have trouble going through some of those issues (potty, bed, going to school, good manners etc) I read them the story and she overcomes it...
