Fantastic and simple
Fantastic and simple. No capture card, no PC, it just sits between your console and your TV like a digital recorder and records 1080p 60fps with really good quality. Video footage can be lifted to your PC without removing the memory card: just connect the LGP2 to your PC and push the switch all the way to the right, your pc will access it directly. This is the third AVermedia game recorder I have owned and I've been happy with all of them.Note: you will need an additional item if you want to record gameplay from your PC the same way.

2 much better than original
Excellent results every time. My only gripe is there doesn't seem to be a setting for 30fps while in pc-free mode (can be selected in PC mode). That means a huge 60fps file for files. But at least they always run smoothly, look really great, and audio is always synced nicely. Full HD at 60fps looks really amazing. Outputs MOV h.264 files, not bad, and can be easily converted or edited with other software. Recentral software is not bad either, offering better options for video and sharing, but it's that pc-free mode which is the crucial point, allowing multiple room use with consoles etc.The best answer for HDMI screen recording, much better than windows programs I have tried. Worth the outlay.

Good - fast microsd card required - annoying black bars when recording phone/tablet devices - update black bars
I couldn't get this working first time, I inserted a class 10 Sandisk 64gb card but the red light would just stay on. Also had issues connecting to my PC and the manual is basically 2 pages. After contacting support and a few helpful replies here I managed to get it working on my PC and I tried a Sandisk Extreme 64gb card and I now have it recording. There is the HDCP recording issue but I purchased a Teorder HDMI Splitter ) £10 (B01G81PBSK) which overides the HDCP protection when trying to record content from tablets, iphones, game consoles etc - only tried with a fire tablet and iPhone so far.Something very very annoying with the LGP2 is that is records all of the black space around the tablet or iphone recording. I was using Reflector 2 to record via airplay wifi which only recorded the screen size of the device which was perfect. I don't know of any way around the black bars in the recording. With console games PS4 and PC it will be fine as they will fill the screen but I have tried my Amazon tablet and my phone in portrait and landscape and I can't escape the black bars.I was recording PC less microsd card gameplay from my amazon tablet and it was about 25 minutes, this amounted to 1 file of almost 4GB and 1 file of almost 2GB - not sure if this is normal but I will be using my larger 128GB card next time. Also the transfer speed to my pc was only 17Mb with the card plugged into the LGP2, due to USB2?The big advantage is the portable recording (PC Less) although when you need a HDMI splitter you will be plugged into a socket, the LGP2 can run off a powerbank and just have the hdmi cable input.Overall a good device for recording. I am still a new user so I may not understand all of the ins and outs.Update: Avermedia support advised that I can record the screen only using RecCentral and crop out the black bars, a bit of extra work but does the job. I was cropping in Premiere Pro anyway. They uploaded a video here [...]Changed to 4*.

Works perfectly both on SD card and with Linux, with no messing around
Unlike other capture cards, this one is recognised by Linux straight away allowing you to use OBS to record / stream without installing proprietary drivers, software etc. Easy to set up both on PC and using an SD card. Brilliant little product which I heartily recommend. In response to another comment on here, I definitely received the genuine product. Shipping time was minimal considering it came from overseas. I am very happy with this purchase.

Very easy to use.
This is a great product does everything that it claims to do. Very easy to use. The fact that its highest definition is 1080p is more than adequate for anything I need to record. Was delivered on time and worked straight out of the box. Would thoroughly recommend the item.

Only use wireless controllers!
As a whole the recorder is great. Gave 3 stars as we have xbox one controllers which are not wireless and so have a usb lead which connects them to the console. This power input caused a loud high pitched noise to user and even louder to anyone linked in party chat. It doesnt say anywhere these are not suitable. Only deep in faq's on their website it says not to charge your controller while recording but my controllers are not rechargeable so think this could be clearer. So, having paid out for two recorders for xmas i then had unhappy kids until i could go and buy the more expensive wireless controllers. Now everything is fine.
