Excellent in some dishes
[Update below] I haven't a basis of comparison, haven't purchased a blend like this before, but I hoped for a pronounced buttery taste. I could just barely detect a butter flavor. I wanted to use it in place of butter on oatmeal and grits, in particular. Didn't work for me, when I added enough to be able to taste they were too oily. I like ghee, it's lighter and more flavorful- I think the proportion of ghee in this must be relatively small. Update: I added a star because I found I DO like it in dishes for which a little oil is customary, like pork-fried rice and stir-frys (and unlike porridge, rice and veggies don't absorb this blend, so you CAN taste the ghee, and a little goes a long way). I'm on a new low-fat vegetarian diet (experimenting) and made a version with brown rice, Soy TVP chunks (Barry Farms, so good) and a few peas. I didn't actually fry it, I added a tiny amount of this on the plate (not even a teaspoonful). I sprinkled with chives and a little onion salt, and it was very close to our family recipe, a favorite. So I've revised my opinion- I'm sure there will be other good uses too- (on popcorn?). I also like the packaging, it doesn't leak, and the fact that no refrigeration is required is nice for camping.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT waste your money. This isn't proper, true ghee.
Update 10/04/25: After trying one of the other brands of ghee that I bought at the same time as this brand, I've realized that this brand of "ghee" is just gross. I had already decided it was more like butter that's been melted and then re-solidified (which is sort of what ghee is, but it's not that simple) than actual ghee. And this brand is not solid at room temperature like the other is - it's just a sloppy mess. And again, the texture is gritty and unappealing and the taste is all wrong. I don't know what this is, but it's not proper ghee. I'm changing my rating from 3 stars to 1. Original review: I wanted to try some ghee so I ordered a few different kinds. This one is packaged in a much too flimsy container that has no business being shipped! The other brand I got comes in very sturdy plastic jars and were fine, but this stupid packaging split open and the ghee got all over inside the box! I'm just glad I ordered it with other stuff so it was shipped in a cardboard box, because I can't imagine what kind of damage and mess might have occurred if it had been shipped alone in one of those padded mailers! As for the product itself, there was enough left that hadn't leaked out, for me to salvage, and I've been using it... after I put it into another container, then the fridge to solidify for a bit. It does have a grainy texture, which is not my favorite, but I'm not familiar enough with ghee to know if this is how it's supposed to be or not. It tastes okay, kinda like movie theater popcorn butter, frankly, and I think it's a little too salty, but it goes great on mashed potatoes and a ground beef patty. I'm not sure I'd risk having this shipped again, since I don't trust the packaging to make it safely through the shipping process. Things are rough out there!! Anyway, I'm giving it 3 stars for crappy packaging and thinking it will ship safely without damage, and too much salt. It's just okay.

OK, but not great
Strange consistency. It did this job no real complaints. Better choices out there.

Back to the basics
So I've now become health conscious and this is one of my replacements for butter and some spreads, this stuff is great too and I love the fact that it's grass-fed, that's like going back to the basics, oh wait, that is back to the basics.
