Fantasy-tastic!
So I'm now 20 hours into the game, and I absolutely love it. It's become my new addiction! Fantasy life is mainly a cross between animal crossing/pokemon/final fantasy. The animal crossing side being that you can move into your new home, and also purchase other homes in different areas, buy furniture and customise your home, help villagers by completing quests for them, shaking trees, etc. The pokemon/final fantasy side is mainly the fighting, it has an RPG style very similar to these and it's great fun. You first start by creating your character, and there are plenty of options to choose and change like hair, colour, facial features and voice etc. then you pick a "life" to begin with (eg magician, hunter, cook, miner, woodworker etc), there are a total of 12 to choose, and you can swap about anytime you like! For example, I started out as a magician, I'm now on expert level but I've also been playing with other lives.. I'm also an expert miner and adept tailor, and I can be these any time I choose and don't lose any progress in each life! The game itself is great fun, you start off in castele and quest and venture all around that area, and as you progress in the story you unlock new areas! You can pick up quests from villagers and go out into the big world killing monsters and exploring dungeons, gather materials for each life and craft new items... There is so much to do you'll always be busy! There are 3 currencies in the game: dosh, bliss and stars. Dosh is basically money, you use this to buy items such as potions, furniture, food, weapons, clothes etc. Bliss is earned from doing the main quest line and various other things such as playing for x amount of hours, reaching certain levels in each life, earning x amount of money .... Think of bliss like badges from animal crossing. Once you get so much bliss, you can obtain upgrades like bigger bags, bigger storage in your home, better furniture to buy in shops, horse riding, have up to 3 pets in your home (which also by the way, can go along with you in your adventures and help you fight enemies!) And finally stars... Stars are obtained by completely certain challenges in each life and these help you level up to the next rank. For example, you get 200 stars for mining x amount of ore as a miner, it's 500 stars to the next rank, so you need to complete other challenges in order to get the stars and level up! You can gather plenty of loot from monsters and dungeons to sell or keep for crafting. There are also "bounties" in the game... Bounties are big enemies with crowns on their heads, if you manage to kill them, you collect the bounty and drag it to the bounty collector who give you money for it! You can carry along up to 3 bounties at a time, but be warned, enemies you pass will attack any bounty you have, so don't let them get destroyed or all that had work will have been for nothing! All in all it's a great game! Give it a go!

L5 have done it again!
This game seems to be more of a time-killer than any sort of in-depth narrative, however it is brilliant! The storyline is not the most gripping or interesting part of this game, and I get the feeling that this is almost intentional. The main focus of the game seems to be on advancing different vocations known as 'Lives' in order to get better materials and crafting recipes. The quests to get these vocational advancements seem to be more of an MMO approach, with no real cutscenes and a few actions that could be seen as 'grindy'. What they do allow, however, is a decent set of goals top work towards for half an hour a day whenever you get the time. Despite this game seeming like it is used to kill time, it is good enough so that you can just sit and play it all day (which I am guilty of on a couple of occasions) without getting bored unless you do the same things over and over. The five stars for this review, despite the little things I found wrong with it is in how the game is as good as you make it. If you are capable of sitting for five minutes chopping trees down, only to run over to the nearest town and play crafting mini-games, then this is perfect for you, because you will be doing a lot of that. As I said, it's rather similar to an MMO in some aspects. If this game was made as an MMO, it would be an amazing game. If you bore easily of simple tasks to work towards a goal, then this is not for you. Content-wise, this game has a lot for you to do. I have played the storyline to the end, half completed a few of the lives and started all of the others, and this has taken me a few weeks of play. I did get a little distracted at times, although most hand-held console games don't have this sort of playability for me, making this game one of my favourite DS titles. If you get bored of doing one thing, you can switch vocation whenever you want, and do something completely different. The different 'lives' are quite varied when you think of how many there are. Some of the lives focus on different combat techniques, some are material gathering and others are mainly focussed on crafting. There is not a single one required to complete the main story that I noticed, nor are they required to complete most of the other vocational tasks. You can easily just buy metals and ore for blacksmithing if mining is not for you, for example. I will not go into what each of these lives are, since a lot of other reviews have probably already done that, and their reasons alongside my own to buy this game (assuming you have not bought this yet) should be sufficient for you to break out the bank card. All in all, a brilliant title from Level 5, and one that is completely recommended!

A Great Laid Back RPG For Everyone!
This game is very fun and lighthearted, and overall an enjoyable and relaxed RPG. While the overly simple and cartoonish style might be off putting at first, once you meet some of the characters and explore the world it only enhances the charm this game overflows with. Anyone who is a fan of Harvest Moon, Rune Factory or "cute" RPGs in general should definitely give this game a try, and for those who like RPGs and want to have a languorous adventure need look no further. POSITIVES: Lots of customisation options. Very long game time (over 100 hours (probably) to max out every job). Tons of objectives and quests to keep you invested and busy. Enjoyable and eccentric NPCs. Play the game at your own pace, complete quests when you feel like it and progress the story when you're ready. Loads of places to explore and numerous enemies to battle. Optional bosses are actually surprisingly challenging. Lots of jobs (well, "lifes") that can be changed around whenever you want keep the game fresh nearly at all times. Travel between towns is instantaneous and easy. A very pretty game to look at. NEGATIVES: The game can be quite "grind-y", which can be off putting to those that dislike repetition. Overly simplistic battle system can feel dull at times. Changing and leveling lifes can be tedious. Travelling to far away dungeons can take a very long time, even with the horse upgrade. The music selection is limited, and can get annoying after a while. Sub par main story.

(In the video, the first game is Fantasy Life) I ordered this about a month ago and it just barely finally arrived, I was super stoked to play it as I’ve been waiting a while to get my hands on this game. It came packaged nicely but when I took the cartridge out it felt a bit different compared to my others. Nonetheless, I put it in but unfortunately nothing happened. I tried multiples times and cleaned both my console and the game but nothing helped. This cartridge compared to the other is much lighter and cheaper feeling. I’m not sure if it’s fake or just faulty but it does not work at all. So bummed :(
