Fifty Readings in Philosophy 4th Edition

Quite the wide array of philosophy giants in this book. It conveniently provides the 3-10 pages of a much larger piece of writing that a philosopher is famous for. So rather than reading a full 300 page book from Hume, Mill, Hobbes, etc, you get the 10 pages necessary for a class discussion with a 1 page explanation. Great resource for someone wanting a survey of philosophical thought in the western world. Not sure I can give it a 5 star though because I don't want to encourage anyone to not ever read a full work of someone.

This was purchased for a college course, so my reason for purchase was that it was required. It meet the needs of the course.

I purchased this strictly for a philosophy course I was taking. However I must admit the book is one I will keep in my collection , for it is well published and includes all the basics for an Intro to Philosophy course . I highly recommend for both personal and academic uses. The book came in good condition and on time . I would definitely consider purchasing any book from this seller again.

My rented book was pretty much torn and hanging by a thread, literally. It was held together by tape, which I do not mind but I am renting this book and am just afraid that I will be the one responsible for the already damaged book. Overall, the book still does the job.

its a great book, but the quality of the book I have is used. it has writing but its still readable. is it worth the price? I don't think so.

Three star review because I had to read this book against my will for a required class. Got it as a rental which is great to save money, it arrived quickly and was in good condition. Some of the readings were cut up or abridged which makes it difficult to grasp the full meaning and some things seem out of context. But I mean, as far as textbooks go, this isn't the worst thing I've had to read.
