Superb Quality
I have to say that I thought this unit had DAB, it doesn't! However... The quality of the sound when matched with Alpine speakers is outstanding! I have this unit in my lorry which has 6 normal speakers and 2 tweeters - all swapped out for Alpine gear and the music sounds crystal clear, even at high volume. The head unit connects to my phone as soon as I get in the vehicle and seem to work as one. There is even an app so you can import the best settings! When I connect my iPad to the head to watch a movie when I am parked, the surround sound is excellent - better than my setup at home lol. I highly recommend this head unit to anyone that loves great sound!

That's why you buy Alpine
Had this headunit for nearly 3 years, the amount of options and sound quality is simply amazing. Anyone complaining that it does not sound good are probably trying to run this headunit directly to in amplified cheap speakers. I have this headunit coupled with 4 e series alpine speakers, alpine amps and JBL subwoofer, it sounds simply amazing. Can not fault it one bit when it come to clarity of the audio. Only slightly annoying thing is that somehow, tiny partickle of dust got under glass of the LCD. It does not affect it or make it descricting, only when it's turned off you can see it. Other than that it's a great headunit and brilliant value for money, would highly recommend.

NO DAB BUT ADVERTISED AS HAVING IT
This unit is advertised of having DAB radio but does not meaning I wasted money on a DAB aerial. I had it professionally and was told once the job was done that there is no DAB function. I feel ripped off and now it's installed cannot return it.It sounds fine and works fine but worth £30 or so less without the digital radio. FM radio is not only poor but has a very limited selection of stations so now I have to messxaround using radio via my phone/bluetooth

This is an excellent replacement for the stock system in our 2008 Subaru Legacy. Comfortably drives Focal speakers (AC and AS models) to deliver clean, distortion free music. Mech less unit made sense for us we don't use CDs. We had a pro install the unit + all speakers. It's our first Alpine unit and we're impressed!

Does the job, but fiddly controls and clunky display
The audio performance of this unit is fine (I’ve only used it over Bluetooth, from an iPhone, as that’s all it was bought for, so can’t comment on aux and USB).Where it’s a little disappointing is in its usability. The buttons you want most frequently (like song up and down and play/pause) are small, fiddly, and packed closely together, making them tricky to make a quick jab at while driving, and you have to be similarly careful with the volume knob (as pressing it does other stuff). And I don’t exactly have massive fingers. The display’s scrolling text looks dreadful - straight out of the 90s; I don’t understand why Alpine couldn’t fit a half decent display to their single DIN units, and display a reasonable amount of text, in an attractive font - we cant all accommodate a double DIN in our older cars, but don’t force us to make do with poverty spec displays in this decade! Song titles and contact names etc. just look awful in that dated font, scrolling clunkily across the screen.I bought this as a test run for the head unit, and, if I liked it, I’d have bought another the same for my other car. Whilst it is quite a nice piece of kit, with flexible sound setup options and customisable display colours, the fiddly buttons and clunky display are making me look into other options for the other car.Oh, and the unit rattled when first unpacked, until a big blob of solder fell out of it!
