Better than I expected for the money
Better than I expected for the money. Initially the winding arm was a little stiff and to be honest was not 100% straight but with a spray of oil everything loosened up and it worked fine. The rotating mechanism to alter the angle of the vice on the bench is an over centre lock mechanism which works fine once you have got used to it but may confuse some people when they first try to use it. A good little vice for the occasional job.

Great for small DIY or hobby jobs
Pay attention to the dimensions as this is a small vice. Having said that its still large enough for smaller DIY or hobby jobs. The clamp tat clamps the vice to the work surface works well and the vice jaw mechanism is solid and doesn't have the wiggle that you can get with cheaper/poorer quality items. The small anvil surface is useful if a little small. It's an oval that's 40 x 28mm and I've used it to flatten small metal pieces and drive in retaining pins. The one criticism is the locking mechanism on the swivel feature does not work as well as it might and this can come loose while you work. It works on a cam and so the locking arm only moves 90o to lock and unlock. it only has to slip ~15o and the vice can start to swivel round slightly. To be fair this is not a constant issue, it only happened a couple of times and this is a compromise I am happy to live with as I wanted the swivel feature. I wouldn't say don't buy it, just be aware.

heavy!
this is much heavier duty than I expected, good jaw opening of 60mm and it rotates too, and it can clamp to a kitchen worktop easy too - very useful

Very useful tool for hobbyists
Very nice vice, it is actually quite heavy for its size. It can be used for small hobby projects, like holding small pieces of wood, metal etc, just about anything which is not too large in size. The only negative is that I had to glue 2 pieces of leather on the jaws, because the teeth of this thing left severe marks on my wood piece while I had it clamped down for sanding. You can either buy rubber pads with it or make your own. Other than that its great...go for it.

Does the job.
You get what you pay for but I think the price is about right for this, the only issue I've had is the lock on the swivel comes loose when using the mini anvil, not a massive issue though.

Good quick clamp
Bolts down easily enough. Holds things firmly too. would recommend some rubber jaw covers if you are going to clamp anything soft.I did find that if you are going to be doing any really forceful filing or cutting against it, the jaws will rotate on the axis as its not completely locking. its good for most detail work, but if you want to go hard then you need to get one that bolts into a worktop.

Dangerous! Caused injury
Firstly, there was a sharp piece of metal that sliced a one inch gash in my finger while I was setting it up. Once bandaged I carried on and then while tightening to my worktop in my shed, the clamp sheared completely, luckily nothing went in my eye or caused further injury. Still awaiting a call back from Anazon's specialist team. It was supposed to be 24-48 hours but that would have been earlier today. Wouldn't touch this brand ever again after what I've experienced with this vice.

5 out of 5
Brought this a few weeks ago & used it for the 1st time today. You get a lot of bench vice for your money. I hardly ever give 5 stars but this is a fantastic bench vice for the money.
