Really good network gear if you're into networking
Really good network gear if you're into networking.Could be an overkill for home networks, also it's way too complicated if you're an average user.

High End Router for Low End price
Firstly don't buy this unless you know what you are doing, this is a grown up router, not something to use at home unless you have a month or so learning. Whilst it may have both a web based and a propriety GUI application (winbox) the entire manual (wiki based) is written for command line configuration. Like all MikroTik gear this box is VERY powerful and has some very interesting features you will only find on high end expensive CISCO type gear. I have now replaced all my routers / firewalls now with MikroTik gear, and this one is pretty flexible. 5 x Gbit Poets and 5 x 100Mbit Ports. 1 x SPF cage for fibre, and POE on port 10. Nice touch screen that can be used for basic config, but can be set to graph any of the ports (I normally have min set to display the IN/OUT traffic on my WAN. Highly Recommended. If you just want to learn/play with MikroTik buy a cheep HEX router, and then upgrade when you know what your doing. The HEX has all the same features but is missing the 5 x 100Mbit ports and the LCD display. I have paid over $2000 for routers that do much less than this. If your technically minded MikroTik are probably the best routers on the Market for the relative price. This is definitely NOT plug and play, more like Plug, Study, Play, Study, Play, Study....

Not a router for everyone
Hopefully if you are buying a MikroTik router you already know what you are buying because they are not home user friendly!MikroTik are excellent value for money for the features, but if you are a home user of only have limited router experience then you might want to consider sticking to something a little more mainstream. For me, I was buying what I knew, I like to buy with Prime delivery so that I know that I can reply on Amazon to deliver it just as soon as possible.
