Does the job, easy to set up and clean.
We bought three of these for our three cats as they do like to start telling us food would be nice as soon as the sun is up.The timer is set in half hour increments so easy to adjust depending on when you set it up and can do this up to 24 hours ahead so technically can give you a night away easily. The design is simple and the tray inside is removable so you can clean. You can also put a flat thin ice pack, the ones for pack lunches, under if you wanted to feed wet food, we haven't done that yet, we just use dry for that feed. The design is simple to keep cost down so there is no on and off circuit, you simply need to put battery in and check the cog is moving, then remove the battery when storing. This makes it affordable and therefore easily replaceable. We will buy again for sure and will get another 3 so we could leave on a Saturday morning , and come back Sunday afternoon, without having to ask the neighbours to feed our lot.The company give contact details in case of any faults. We have not needed these but it is nice to know if there is an issue you can contact them. And yes, my lot do not wake me at sunrise anymore.

Review for single machine
When I was reading the reviews it said this item came with an ice pack however that wasn’t the case. The ice pack and the reviews were all clearly for the double one or even a different machine all together. The reviews need separating so they are against the correct item. Saying that though this is good and does the job, put the food in the fridge prior to using so it keeps fresh longer as there is no ice pack with the single machine.

Time Out!
After reading the positive reviews, I thought I would try one of these for my cat when I was out for the day.It is an interesting timing mechanism being an analogue dial for setting but the clock is electronic and requires batteries. The advantage of this is that it does not 'Tick' through the hours but is silent. It is easy to clean and my cat appreciates it!

Just okay
This has been useful for my cat and me, however there are a few issues. I am a little worried about the fact that the battery is not particularly securely fastened into the back so my cat could potentially get it out and try to chew it (my cat tries to eat everything). It’s also a bit too light so my cat sometimes manages to flip it and then it doesn’t open, so he doesn’t get his lunch. It’s also fiddly to clean as when it gets moved around by my cat, the food can get into the hinges (the removable bowl is easy to clean though). It’s fine if you just want something to space out your cat’s meals, and you will be back before the end of the day to feed them if it doesn’t work. I certainly wouldn’t use it if I were going away overnight for example.

As well as ensuring we wake up in good form, it also saves her the stress of ...
This purchase has transformed our mornings! Our cat (who eats dry food) would fuss every day at 6-7am for food and wouldn't stop until she got fed, but now with this feeder we no longer have to alter our morning routines or miss out on a lie to feed her. As well as ensuring we wake up in good form, it also saves her the stress of seeking us out and meowing until she can get fed. This item is especially good if you adopt an adult pet, because it can be difficult to change their habit of eating at a set time that they are already used to, to suit the routine in your own home.My only warning is that the battery at the bottom once started to fall out so the timer stopped working, I thought it was broken before I realised and put it back, but have not had a problem in the month since.

Flimsy
We found this a bit unreliable and it was all very flimsy and felt a bit cheap. Wouldn’t always pop up at the set time and the timer wasn’t great. Cat not interested in it (she is 13 so I think maybe too old to get the hang of it?) I’m glad I tried it but if I was serious about trying to use it on my cat I’d Invest in a more pricey one and get the better quality.

Does the job
Does the job and means I can lay in bed longer in the mornings! Easy to set each evening and my cat ate out of it straight away. I would give it 5 stars but agree with other people that a cover over the battery would be better, and an off switch rather than having to take the battery out each morning.

It really does the job
My cat thinks that 5am is a reasonable hour to rouse me for breakfast - including weekends. After a week of using the very simple Catmate feeder, she now knows that she can wait patiently for it to open without waking me up, although we did have a couple of mornings when she batted it about the kitchen, making heck of a racket. Very impressed. The only slight negative is that the battery was a bit loose in the fittings so I had to adjust it slightly and put a piece of sticky backed plastic over it to make sure that it didn't fall out.
