Stop reading this and buy this race set! I bought this set, but this review applies equally to all Carrera digital 132 sets. These sets are AMAZING. I do recommend getting two sets as the track in one set is rather short. Two sets also is a cheap way to get started with extra cars and controllers. The track assembles very flat with more stability than any slot car set I have ever seen. The stainless steel rails connect perfectly for good continuity. The cars run very reliably with no stopping or stalling. They are not super fast, but give a good realistic racing feel. The handling is also not super fast, but realistic, challenging and predictable. The controls are very smooth, allowing complete control from very low speeds to full speed. I have the wireless controllers. While the wired are adequate, I highly recommend the wireless. They really give you freedom and allow multiple racers to stay out of each other's way. The headlights and tail lights are so COOL. They look so real! You can even switch them off and on from the controller. The lane changing option and the ability to race up to six people at a time really supercharges the fun! Assembly of the track and guard rails is time consuming and tedious, but not really difficult. It took me about 4 hours to set up two sets into one 50 foot track. Care needs to be taken to avoid damaging the track and rails. The instructions are complete detailed and clear. The only annoyance is that the set shuts down automatically after a few minutes of non use. To charge the controllers for a long time you have to keep turning it back on, This involves switching it off unplugging it, plugging it back in, and switching it back on. I just put the controllers back in the charger after each session, and they are fully charged before the set switches off. Not really a big problem.
