Has anyone experienced delivery issues with this item?

Yes. Waiting 5 months so far and still not delivered. No one in the supply chain seems to have any answers either.

Can anyone recommend a little external speaker to use with this?

I use one from Bose. They rock...

is this a sampler as well?

Yes. It has both a synth sampler and drum sampler. I think it has a max limit of 12 sec per sample. The drum sampler is a bit fiddly in the beginning but when you get used to it is intuitive. There are good videos of how the sampler works on youtube so I recommend you watch a few of them first. The op-1 has also a FM Radio built in so you can sample stuff from the radio if you so desire, still a 12 sec limit. And you can also sample from your recorder but that is a bit fiddly too, but you can. That makes it possible to create samples within the op-1 it self.In short it's a powerful sampler if you can get past the limitations.Hope this helped. Cheers :)
