By far the most cost effective air purifier on the market!
I spent many hours reading reviews on air purifier and after hesitating between Phillips AC3256/30, Honeywell HPA710WPE and the Blueair 270E I discovered this Winix U450 model. I'm very pleased with this product and its capacity to remove small and large particles from the air is astonishing (see image below, measured by the Cair air monitor placed in a bedroom facing a busy road. You can see the PM count increases when the windows is opeedn and then dropped when I turn the U450 on max power). On lowest speed mode the unit is absolutely silent and maintain a 'fresh' feel in the room. I sleep 50 cm from the unit without noticing it at all at night. The activated carbon granule filter is quite efficient at removing odours too and with a weight of circa 600 g it's significantly heavier than in the equivalent Philips and Honeywell machines (the heavier the better). Only Blueair machines have heavier carbon filters but those are extremely expensive to replace. Note that Winix filters can be washed and dried which make the running cost much much lower than other brands! I have also noticed an improvement of my hay fever symptoms but I believe the unit has to run on maximum speed to remove allergens efficiently (smallest particles). In summary I think this Winix air purifier is one of the best in this price range!

Works great, had this running sincewe got it
Works great, had this running sincewe got it. Cleans the air well no inonising smell like u get with some of them. Less dust in the air. Leave it running in auto is very quiet when on the low setting. Gets louder on the higher setting. But this only happends when the air quality is poor. Am a bit conserened regarding replacment filters. They are extreamly expensive ..

Pretty good!
I've had quite a few air purifiers over the years and never been totally happy with them because of noise or poorly designed meaning fiddly cleaning and dust build up inside the unit that you couldn't reach to clean out. I spent time researching which to get, my previous, a fellowes which was loud, rattling and vibrating and didn't do much for allergies and did nothing to reduce dust and so loud couldn't be used at night. This one however meets nearly all my high expectations. It noticeably reduces dust on surfaces and I unfortunately live in a very dusty place. I also have two small dogs which are moderate shedders all year round. I have included a photo of the pre-filter which after only two weeks is covered in dust and dog hair. This filter you can vacuum whenever you want. On low it is very quiet and even medium is acceptable to use all day, the higher settings are of course fairly loud but actually quite a pleasant white noise and drowns out unwanted background noise. When it gets dark it reduces the speed lower than the quiet setting and is literally silent especially if you turn off the plasma feature which makes a small noise of its own. I prefer to manually set it to low at night as its inbuilt night mode doesn't do much allergy wise. The CADR ratings only apply to its highest setting as it is with all air purifiers so even though this is in my 15.5ft x 11.4 ft bedroom I went for this larger size for better results even on a lower setting. The unit itself is rather large and really needs to be located fairly centrally in a room to pick everything up. It doesn't seem to be very accurate on auto mode to detect smells etc and speed up if it's running at low speed. I tend to keep it on medium most of the day because of this. This is one of its small downsides. Overall though I'm quite happy with it. *Edit* Two years on , just outside of the warranty and the fan has become rattly and noisier and the ar flow has become severely reduced. There's no way to open it up to clean the fan. The filter replacements have also increased by ยฃ25! So I'm now looking for a replacement.

Very good value Air Purifier
Very good value Air Purifier. This is the best designed air purifier I have had in the last 15 years and have tried quite a few. The WINIX U300 is very quiet on the slowest speed but is as near silent when it is auto mode and dark. Full speed and it will clear your room very quickly. Only negative is the display lights are too bright so have taped them over with tape

Powerful air purifier
This is a powerful air purifier itโs well made durable and easy to wipe over to clean, it works well on medium setting but can be noisy on high not a setting we used when sat in the same room, it clears smells quickly on high then I turn it down, not changed the filter yet as Iโve not had it long enough but Iโm happy with it at the moment

Brilliant machine! It works flawlessly
Brilliant machine! It works flawlessly. It has helped a lot reducing the amount of pollen in the air (Hay-fever veteran here) and with odour from the cat litter. The sensor is smart and the unit is powerful when needed but quiet during the nights. We have been using it every day and it runs smoothly. One of the best purchases ever.

OK but may be better air filters available for the money
Purchased this after reading a lot of reviews. It's does a reasonable job and the turbo function works well. However, the light sensor does not work so when you leave it running at night it gives off a very bright light which is annoying. The air sensor seems to work, with the fan speed increasing when the sensor determines that the air quality has reduced. However, I'm not sure how accurate an of these sensors are in picking up the damaging PM 2.5 particles that are most hazardous. The product is surprisingly light which only feeds the impression that the build quality isn't great (this seems to be supported by the faulty light sensor) Overall it works OK but there may be better filters out there for the money

brilliant at night as it is very quiet on a ...
Got it to help with the hay-fever my husband has and dust mites and hay-fever allergies for my daughter. Works well, brilliant at night as it is very quiet on a low setting. My husband claims that he wakes up less during the night and his nose is not blocked in the morning! Also I can judge the improvement by the quantity of the used tissues on the floor by the bedside. One or two now compare to a used box overnight!
