Bought a back up prong collar thing for my dog that was made of nylon and she chewed right through it. This thing is a lifesaver. You definitely only need a smaller one great value I love this thing and my dog can’t chew through it, which is the best part!

Don't bother with this. It tarnished immediately and then after 5 months using it as a safety backup clip between two collars one of the clasps broke. It was never even utilized for its purpose (safety) and basically just hung there for 5 months. 1/10

I purchased a tie out that had this on it and loved it so much that I wanted to get this for the leashes to be more secure. I have 2 now but I think I’ll get 2 more! I had 2 of my dogs get loose off a standard leash because the clip opened up after the dogs scratched their neck or back. That does not happen with this! I love this product!

Had one too many slide hooks on leashes and safeties fail? Here it is. You and the dog need to be patient because it's not a snap and go solution, but everything else in the dog connection will fail before this does. It won't come unhooked, won't break under big dog stress, won't fail and fall apart after six months of going on and coming off. Hook it to your leash at the collar end and to the ring on the collar. Leash fails, dog is still hooked up.I use these with Sprenger collars for the walk and hook the safety to the dog's daily wear collar. The narrow Sprenger's have been prone to slipping a link on a strong dog and these have saved the day. And more than one squirrel or bunny.

I have a husky german shepherd who is not only an escape artist, but a car chaser and a chicken killer. All his training vanishes if he sees anything moving fast. Prey drive 1,000 on this good boy. This has led me to have both a collar and a harness on him, but I needed a second connection for his leashes when we go on walks. I was specifically looking for something heavy duty. No stitching to tear, no flimsy clasps to bend..heavy. duty.From the product images and actual words "heavy duty" in the product description, I wrongly assumed that's what this was, because there's nothing for scale.This is indeed all metal with no stitching, but the metal is thin. See image with Q-tip and penny for scale. It might be fine for a smaller dog, but a powerful puller (like a husky) is likely gonna snap this if they suddenly jerk after something (like a car). I'm using it for now but am back on the search for something beefier.

Safety is the key. I really like this backup clip. It makes me feel better when I'm walking my dog. To know that if the buckle pops off, I have a backup. I did take off the screw-on locks, mostly because it made it hard to release my dog when we came inside. But other than that, the backup clip is great.
