A decent unit that you could sleep through, if you're used to loud fans.
There wasn't any reviews of this when I first ordered so it was a bit of a shot in the dark. I confess that I was holding out for the (less powerfully rated) EcoAir Artica, after that one got down to ÂŁ278-ish pre-heatwave, and pre-Amazon price-hike!With the heat in my house really affecting my sleep I figured a portable aircon unit would be money well spent. I 'over-specced' one for the size of my bedroom, figuring that most units are probably on the optimistic side with their coolness rating. I'm glad I did. This unit is rated to 9000 BTU which is probably right for my west facing bedroom. It says it can cool a room of up to 20m2. My room is probably around 16-17m2, but as I say it does get the sun all evening.Setup couldn't really be simpler. Just plug it in, connect the ends on the heat extraction hose, attach one end to the back of the unit and put the other end out of a window (preferably with one of those 'window sealing' kits you can buy elsewhere on Amazon. When you turn it on you'll see one of the nice features of this unit. It shows the ambient temperature of the room, both on the front of the unit and also the control panel on the top.It also comes complete with a simple but effective remote control, and electrically oscillating 'up/down' louvres (the directional left/right ones are operated manually). The last nice feature is a 'sleep mode' where it allows the temperature to raise by 1 degree/hour until it switches off after 6 hours. This is the first portable aircon that I've bought, so I cant really compare the noise to other units. Pleasingly the loudest noise you can hear from it is the (selectable speed) fan. The actual compressor is very quiet indeed. Operationally, it's been on for a couple of hours with the sun on the room, and without a window sealing kit, and it's brought the temperature down from 27 degrees to a very comfortable 21.I had hesitated buying an aircon unit for years now, but I can already tell that with a reassuring 2 year warranty (when you register the unit), and a noise that's no louder than the loud pedestal fan that it's 'replacing', I wish I'd bought one sooner. I understand this is a new model Igenix but I can see myself picking up another unit for my home office, and maybe one for the lounge. Recommended.

Useless as an air-con, a chocolate teapot could do better!
This thing is LOUD! Spousal Acceptance Factor = 0. Would be acceptable if it actually cooled the room but unfortunately not. I'm using this in a 4x5 sq m room, (about 200 sq feet) with sealed windows, closed door, and nothing else except for a fridge and a wifi router (not even people!) Left it for 12 hours to settle as instructed. Set it to 16 degrees. 1st day it managed to cool the room to about 22 degrees from 24.... wow. Maybe it needed to run-in for a bit. So ran a longer test after a few days. Left it on overnight at 2230 starting at 24 degrees. It shot up to 26 degrees in about 5 mins! ok, we'll see in the morning. Next morning.... 26 degrees still. Tried it again next night. Same thing. The air coming was cool-ish at first but now it's barely any different from ambient. The exhaust pipe is nice and warm though.Avoid. Unfortnately UK has no air-conditioning culture so all we get are crap chinese no-brands. No Daikin, no Mitsubishi, no Carrier, all we get is junk like this.

Works if you vent and use blinds for sun.
If vented does the job if you select the correct size for the job.A little noisy but forgot to turn off the kitchen extraction unit, so on own bearable. I was nearly put off purchase by negative misleading reviews and I am glad I relied on customer service and support. If you want one buy one, if you want ultra quiet then spend more for that and don’t complain. I do seal the space and it’s fantastic for the price a two year guarantee and it’s small. The Dehumidifier is an absolute boon it keeps the air clean too, continuous drainage to a bucket gets rid of up-to half a litre per day. Excellent I will be buying another for other rooms for use as a dehumidifier but may select the model with a built in heater the 4 in 1 unit as opposed this 3 in 1 unit. I selected this as it’s more BTU British Thermal Units I think 9000 and therefore better at cooling than the other 4-1 unit I am getting later.

good for small spaces
Bought it just in time for the heat wave of 2018 for an average sized bedroom (20 m2). It takes approximately 2 hours to get the temperature in the room from 32 degrees to 20 degrees (on coolest setting), and it is rather noisy. The hose coming out of the window can be fiddly to set up, we had to secure it to the window opening, as it can move and fall back into the room, blowing very hot air in. But once set up properly, works a treat.

Losing efficacy? Very good air conditioner offset by lousy exhaust hose
Update:I am concerned that 12 months in and the air conditioner is losing its efficiency. Air just does not feel as cool as it used to. Gas evaporating?Original review from 2018:I would like to give this 5 stars, I really would. It works very well, cools down the room and allows us to survive the hot and humid summer. I give 3 stars for two reasons: (1) quite loud and (2) the cheap, thin, useless hose it comes with. The exhaust hose fits inside the circular attachment on the back of the air conditioner. The directions say to screw the hose counter clockwise into the circular attachment. Good luck with that. So you jam it in and no surprise, with the heat of the exhaust, the plastic slightly melts and gets deformed and falls out. I give that part of the machine 0 stars. What the company should do is make the cheap, thin, non-meltable hose slightly larger than the circular attachment and add a hose clamp so one can tighten the hose to the circular attachment. If they did that, I would likely change my review to 5 stars.Tomorrow I will buy duct tape...
