Quest Slimline Portable Electric Heater

Amazing. Even the lowest setting (400W) gives loads of heat. Straight away. I sit in front of it and get warm. No need for the higher setting (800W).Being quartz, it radiates more heat than the old fashioned bar heater. Very light weight (less than a kilo) and folds up for easy storage. Surprisingly, the unit itself does not get warm and stays safely cool throughout. All the heat is radiated out at the front, to you. No thermostat fitted and no need for it being low wattage. It has a safety cut off switch which switches off if the heater gets knocked over. Love it.

This is the second time I have ordered a Quest from Purely Outdoors and received a Kampa. The last Kampa, bought in August ‘23, (sold to me as a Quest) from Purely Outdoors lasted about 6 months and, with the weather we had from August onwards, it was only used for a couple of months. This is a further purchase, bought in December 2023 to replace the August ‘23 Kampa. I really should send it back, as it is not a Quest model, but I urgently need a source of localised heating. I will be using this during the colder period so, unlike the previous one that was purchased August 2023 and was unused until around October, this will be used from receipt of it and I will expect a refund/ replacement if it fails. It would be brilliant if it were to last as long as my original Quest. The concept is great, it’s inexpensive to run and it provides good heat. IF IT WORKS AND IF IT DOES NOT SEND OUT SPLUTTERING SPARKS AND STOP FUNCTIONING.To conclude, I have bought two of these in less than a year and both have malfunctioned after a few months. My original Quest bought from a camping shop lasted around 15 years.

These little heaters are great for small rooms, they throw out a good amount of heat instantly. Very light and good value for money.

I bought this for some late summer/ autumn helping after I was kept awake bu the incessant hum of a neighbour's fan heater and didn't want to be guilty of the same. Chuck's out a decent bit of heat with a nice warm glow that gently lights the tent but best of all is totally silent in use. Slightly larger than expected but folds flat with the retractable stand so sits neatly in top of the tent in the boot. Only used it twice and so far so good. Other reviewers say one of the elements will quickly die as has happened with most of this type of heater I've owned, if so will review again !

3rd one of these in the last 3-4yrs they last about a year, if your lucky, top bar generally seems to go quite quickly def within the 12 month window, but bottom bar lasts about 18months,then their both gone. No point getting parts, due to the price of the unit. When they work they are good, don't expect them to last longer than 18months though. And thats not with everyday use. I like it for my home office during the winter months, silent and gives off good heat. Wish they were a bit more reliable, but you get what you pay for.

Below is what I wrote initially but now I need to amend it from 5 stars to one star. Both of my heaters lost their lower bar within the first year. One after only 3 months and the second after 10 months. I have sent one back for a refund but they refused to refund my postage of £3.45. I didn't find their customer service the kindest or most helpful. I am just about to return the second. The bars cannot be replaced apparently so it is not a great heater after all. This is my first review before either broke... I am delighted with this particular heater. I have had several like this before but with this one I have the option of turning either bar on individually which means that my house bunny can now bask in the heat of the lower one, nearer floor level, where the drafts are at their worst. With all the others, I could only turn the top one on, or both. Brilliant. Mr. B. is now a warm bunny.
