Caterpillar Men's Generator 8" Waterproof Tough Steel Toe Boot

Have worn these for 2 yrs 4 months for farm work. I think that's a first. Soles still show very little wear and have good traction and slip resistance. Leather uppers where laces go and around the back still very good. Lace hooks have worn better than any other boot I've ever had; none have worn through, come out, or gotten sharp enough to damage laces. Only problem is vertical stitching on front inside from sole to uppers (where boot flexes when you rock from heel to toe) is giving out. So now they leak dirt a little and water a lot. Also, leather over steel toe guards beginning to wear through, though for as much time as I spend crawling under machinery and on dirt/cememt, I can't complain after over 2 years. Am disappointed in the stitching where the boot flexes. Stitching and leather elsewhere would still have another year, maybe even two left. However, I just ordered another pair, so that tells I'm happier with them than other boots I've had.Update: 11/02/18. Have had these boots 2 weeks short of 4 years now. Longest lasting boots I've ever had. Stitching problem I mention above is interesting: stitching came loose, which provided a little more flexibility and evidently kept the seam from total failure. Still lets dirt and water in, but not any worse than it did two years ago. Inside liner has come loose at the heel now, and it's hard to get my foot out without the liner bunching up and binding. But after 4 years, I can't complain. Getting ready to order a new pair unless I can find something better....which I haven't yet!

So far my first time trying a CAT pair of boots. 4 week in the back strap broke,front toe is doing OK but I can see the rubber starting to have trouble. As of right now not %100 sold on them hope they make it 1yr. I hope to update with 5star if the make it.Update 09-17 well, not a good boot at all. Sole is coming off and sowing of the boot is not holding. I had high hopes for this boot but don't waste your money.

Hubby works in the field a lot and needed boots to protect his feet from mud, dampness, critters, etc., yet could also stay solid while hiking through trees, over rocks, across logs, etc.These fit the bill and then some.They are comfortable, easy to put on, and look good with his jeans. The dark color helps to hide some of the abuse, and the laces stay tied without much effort. Not too heavy for all day wear.They fit exactly as needed in a 9.5. Works great with these amazing socks: Darn Tough Merino Wool Boot Sock Full Cushion,Black,Medium Hubby loves them!

My husband thanked me over and over again for these boots! He works outside all day and the winter where we live was more than tough this year. He said they were comfortable as soon as he put them on, no "breaking in" necessary. While other guys were using bags over their feet inside their boots , my husband said his feet were dry and super warm. These boots are worth every penny and I will definitely be buying another pair if they ever wear out. So far they are holding up great even with him working 5-6 days a week, in rain/snow etc.

The size I usually wear is a 12 -- They're lighter in weight than I expected; a good thing. Seem to be comfortable from the get-go.Regarding 'what customers should expect:' Although I'm satisfied with the overall quality of the boot, I'm a little disappointed with the absence in 'two tone' coloration. The photograph shows a definite contrast in color between the leather top [light, leather look] and the remaining areas [toe, etc.] of the boot. The physical product appears more as, 'all black in real life. Not quite as attractive I would say, as is depicted in the photograph.Durability? Time will tell. But if they wear as nicely as other Cat styles I've owned, all will be good.Thanks for your interest in my commentary.Wild Bill

These were a birthday present for my son who works in a grocery freezer a lot of the day. After just 1 day of wear he changed from his original work boot to the catepillar boots. He says they are very comfortable and warm and have very good cushioning inside. we originally bought them for him to wear around our yard in bad weather but he wears them on a daily basis now. Very well made and the steel toe is another plus.

Love these boots so much I got a new pair to keep on the shelf until the ones I wear (that are just the same) wear out. 1 year now and while showing signs of there age still going pretty good. I work in heavy construction as a concrete finisher as well as other positions.

Gets a little sweaty inside on Hot days. Probably should wear these in spring and fall. They are comfortable though.
