Great product for artists
Having recently decided to create a sketched range of art work to sell I wanted to find a suitable fixant that would protect my art work from forgery and also to protect the sketch itself from the environment. This stuff really does the trick. 1 coat works but 2 layers are more desirable its easy to apply but do use a well ventilated area- i sprayed in my garden.. It is pretty strong smelling but that smell only lasts 5-10minutes i would advise using a face shield like with other sprays and resins. Once sprayed the pencil work cannot be rubbed out.Definatly would recommend! Was slightly out of the budget I set for myself but you gotta pay higher prices at times for the best products.

Works well on charcoal
Although its really for pastels I use it for fixing charcoal. Its very good, quite wet so best to spray from further away, but 2 coats fix completely. It does appear to change the paper colour but that quickly dries back to original.

Not bad
I don't think any pastel fixative deserves more than four stars as they all dull and darken the colours to some extent. I find Perfix ok, it's a reasonable price and fixes well, but I have had some disappointing results where my pastel paintings were significantly darkened. I think in those cases I may have been using it too heavily and also it seems worse on coloured pastel papers or where I've used a watercolour or wet pastel under-painting. Also it has a terribly strong odour but presumably all the spray fixatives are the same. I think it's probably fine if you use it very lightly.

I love this stuff!
I have used this a few times now and have nothing but good things to say about it. It is completely colourless and is practically invisible. After a few coats of this stuff you can rub your fingers over any artwork with no residue. It says to spray it in a well ventilated area but I'd recommend spraying it outside as it smells strongly of white rum and it lingers a lot. It sprays as a fine mist and provided you don't spray too close to the paper it won't buckle. I have used this on 6B graphite, Charcoal, soft pastels and eyeshadow (yes, eyeshadow, acts exactly like soft pastels but comes in more colours and finishes) and it has perfectly fixed all of them. I never used fixative before, I just used any hairspray but now I will never go back. £10 may seem a lot but the can is huge and will probably last me around a year or more.

For pastels?
Well in spite of it being for pastels, it does a good job of fixing graphite pencil and gouache. This is all testament to the fact that fools rush in (to buy products intended for other uses), where angels fear to tread! It does pong a bit, so probably best to spray it on and then go and have a cup of tea elsewhere for a while, or open a window which is not really appropriate when it is snowing outside. Anyway (once dry) it has no obvious effect on the appearance of anything that I have been foolhardy enough to spray it on so far.

Darkens Pastels considerably
I was really disappointed that this darkened my pastel painting so much despite, reviews to the contrary.
