You're basically paying for a lot of hype on a very basic bottle of gloop.
Wish I'd done more research before spending so much on shampoo. The ingredients are very basic and cheaply acquired by manufacturers. Glycerin, plant fat, surfactants, and common cosmetic preservatives; methylisothiazolinone and benzisothiazolinone. Cosmetic preservatives by their very nature, are anti-microbial and anti-fungal. One of which (methylisothiazolinone) has been associated with an "epidemic of allergic dermatitis" in humans.Quote:Epidemic of allergy to preservative MethylisothiazolinoneA preservative used in disposable baby wipes and other products is causing an increasing number of cases of allergic contact dermatitis.Methylisothiazolinone (MI) has been used in a range of cosmetic and personal products, including disposable wet wipes, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, moisturisers, sunscreens and deodorants, as well as in paints, cooling tower water and cutting oils since the early 2000s.Drs Jennifer Cahill and Rosemary Nixon, dermatologists with the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc, have included MI in their baseline patch test series for allergies since 2011, after European reports of increasing numbers of cases of MI contact allergy.“Our current rate of positive test reactions to MI to November 2013 is 11.3% (40 patients who had relevant reactions of a total 353), compared with a rate of 3.5% (15/428) in 2011 and 8.4% (38/454) in 2012”, Dr Cahill wrote.“MI is now the most common cause of allergic contact dermatitis in our patient population.”Preservatives like MI are needed in moist wipes and other water-based products to prevent bacterial contamination.“Interestingly it is parents using baby wipes on their children who are presenting with hand dermatitis, although it is likely that allergic contact dermatitis involving the groin in children may not be diagnosed accurately”, Dr Cahill wrote.“Medical practitioners and consumers should be aware of the potential for allergic contact dermatitis to develop to MI from wipes, in particular causing persistent hand dermatitis.”People with unexplained rashes should check the label of ingredients and see if it contains MI, said co-author Associate Professor Rosemary Nixon. They should then try an alternative product which does not contain MI. If their rash persists, they should see their GP.'End quote.D-10 are putting a lot of emphasis on the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of this product, in my opinion deliberately misleading pet owners into believing the shampoo has some form of vet approved active medication incorporated into it. This is clearly not the case, they've simply added two very cheap, synthetic and nasty industrial preservatives. There are gentle, 100% natural anti-microbials on the market which are obviously more expensive, however for the price D-10 charges for this tiny bottle of shampoo.... it's the very least the customer, and their pets, should expect.I decided to try the dirt removing, rinsing/residue and foaming properties of this soap by washing my own hands with a 10p sized amount, earlier in the day I had rubbed coconut oil into my skin as I suffer from dry sensitive skin. There was absolutely no lather but it did remove the fine film of coconut oil and some dirt particles from under my nails. There was a total absence of the "pleasant smell" as advertised on the bottle. I personally prefer low lather, non-scented products, but if I purchase a product advertised and marketed as otherwise, it really gets my goat when the product falls short of it's promises. In this particular instance, being as my pooch is a smelly little stinker, I did want something that smelled "pleasant'.After testing the product on myself and rinsing thoroughly, I noticed a mild burning in the the quick of two of my nails, and a slight irritation on my entire hands. The irritation and slight burning continued for approx 30 mins and my hands were then left feeling just slightly dry. The product did appear to rinse off easily and with no detectable residue. The "HELPS INFLAMMATION STOPS SCRATCHING" marketing is also deliberate manipulation. Intending to make the customer believe it's medicated and therefore falls under some sort of regulation, however, the ingredient that has these properties, is the glycerin. Buy a bottle of it from your local chemist for a quid. This D-10 shampoo is nothing more than snake oil in my opinion, with a King Cobra price tag. There are far better, medicated and more natural and effective pet products out there, for a much friendlier price tag. The shampoo is snake oil and D-10 are snake-oil peddlers.

A great improvement in a short space of time
My Dachshund suffers with allergies that cause him to scratch and lick himself a lot. He goes through phases of bad hair loss and rashes which you can see in the first photo. We have used this shampoo every 2-3 days for the past 2 weeks and this is the improvement already. The shampoo smells great and lathers up well so you don’t have to use a large amount each time. We have tried many products over the years and this one has worked wonders in a short space of time. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant product.
My blue Staff had really bad skin. He was losing his hair. Constantly itching and scratching. Was using a product from the vets .. wasn't doing a lot .. but persevered. I then bought this to replace it. It's been amazing. Been using it for a few months now. It's gentle but effective. His hair is growing back - he hardly scratches at all or chews his feet which he used to do. I wash him everytime he goes through long grass or on the beach .. so maybe 2 or 3 times a week. I put a blob of liquid about the size of a 50p on his back then I use his own shower puff and wash him. It foams up wonderfully and a little can go a long way. It's a fabulous product. I'd heartily recommend it.I also feed him dry food with very little carbohydrates in. Orijen - it's expensive but worth it as keeps itchy yeast infections at bay.Just buying my second bottle.. Been over a year since first one and used a couple of times a week. Great product.

Bought D10 hoping it would help with my dogs dry cracked paws and nails, and itchy skin, which i believe was due to a fungal infection. Gave him a bath on Sunday and afterwards he didn’t scratch once. Monday i just stood him in a shallow bath to soak his pads, and the same on Tues and Weds. Thurs i just sponged his paws and ears. Checked this morning and there is a huge, huge improvement with his pads now feeling soft with just a little bit of roughness left. Im absolutely over the moon with the results.

Great shampoo ! My Neapolitan Mastiff has terrible skin and gets very yeasty and copper smelling if he doesn't get bathed at least once a week. Other shampoos have left him itching and covered in sores, but this shampoo does not irritate him at all, plus it leaves his coat in really nice condition and pleasant smelling. Does as good, if not better job than Malaseb or other more expensive products from the vets. Would highly recommend if your dog has itchy or yeasty skin.

Made our old dog happy again!
Our 14 year old Lhasa Apso was very miserable with very smelly, uncomfortably itchy & greasy skin. She would scratch until she bled. Been to the vets SO many times in the last 5 years to no avail. After some research, I thought maybe she has a fungal infection and found this.Only used once and she is already much more comfortable, scratching around 75% less and smells much nicer! Her coat is also shiny again. Very pleased. Would highly recommended

great shampoo
my little Lhasa apso has a fungal infection in her ear. it gets transferred to her feet and then the scratching seems to spread. after a good few days of being told to stop chewing her feet - which she ignores - I thought I would give this a try. great shampoo, even better because it is no sting on the eyes, you can really work this into the face and other areas that can be a little sensitive. I worked this into her feet and pads and let her stand in the soapy water for a while. after one shampoo a noticeable improvement in her not scratching and a good nights sleep for her.
