Q: Can standard Mason/Ball jar lids be used with this, or must only the included lids work?

Standard lids work, as long had they have the separate ring like your typical metal mason jar lids. This fits both regular and large mouth jars

Q: Does it have a smell when it runs

I have never noticed a smell, but I only ever seal one jar that I use to store, oxygen absorbers, so I have never done batches of multiple jars.

Q: Is it easy to seal wide mouth Mason jars?

Find the red arrow on the machine, the machine below the regular mouth seal adapter to the left screw to the arrow pointing to unlock, take off the regular mouth seal adapter is a wide mouth sealer. Let the wide-mouth sealer align with the wide-mouth Mason Jar mouth and press down hard to the bottom, press a button to start working, wait 20 seconds or more, press the button again, pause work up to pull out the wide-mouth sealer, the lid will stick tightly to the mouth of the Mason jar.
