Works GREAT for metal bowls too!
Exactly as described! This was an experiment for me because I wanted to see if I could get better sound out of my traveling bowl set by trying a different mallet than the wooden ones it came with. Using these mallets, I can strike with the silicone coated end and run the hard acrylic side around the bowls to produce different sounds. Using the acrylic side to circle around on my metal bowls produces a sound that is far superior to any wood mallet or rubber mallet I have tried. I will say that if you want to use this on metal bowls and primarily want them for striking they produce a slightly more muted sound but a clearer tone than you would get with a suede covered wooden mallet. Perhaps because these are heavier than wooden mallets. I am supremely happy my experiment paid off and plan to use these almost exclusively for my metal bowls.

My Favorite
So I bought a BEAUTIFUL set of crystal bowls. Some have rougher edges than the others so I have a variety of bowls. I bought "Crystal Singing Bowl Resonant Rod/Mallet - Silicone Coated Glass - Pure, Clear Tone for Meditation, ASMR, Yoga or Sound Baths, 2-YEAR WARRANTY" first for $28. It's a great mallet. I wanted a second and decided to get this one cause I wasn't sure which one to go with originally. This one is cheaper and plays even better. It reduces the dragging noise significantly. The other one is good too, but has more of a dragging noise than this one. It plays the bowls a lot smoother and it's easier to keep this one from vibrating off the bowl than the rest. I'm not a fan of the suede mallets, LOTS of dragging noise. I also have a round silicone one with a wood handle... I always end up dragging the wood on the bowl or it makes a squeak noise on the side, so I don't like that one much either.

Smooth and good for rolling on cramped muscles like shin splints.
I use this mallet to roll on my cramped muscles like shin splints. It works beautifully. As a musician, I feel delighted that it is multi-purpose.

The best!!
I swear by this mallet, I used two of them in my sound baths. They glide on the bowls like butter. Highly recommended

Nice mallets at a reasonable price
I purchased two of these mallets because I own a full octave set of bowls. I really like how light they are compared to the solid glass wands I already have. The glass ones are too heavy and I feel fatigued after using them for upwards of 20 minutes. These acrylic ones are lighter and easier to handle and allow me to focus my attention on playing instead of muscle fatigue. The silicone that surrounds the lower half of the mallet has a very glossy finish. Thus it takes a little more time to obtain the "singing" resonance compared with my heavier wands, but it is a good trade-off. I play my bowls in a small room for now, and don't need a lot of volume. So many other mallets were priced at $50 and up, I bought two of these for half that price.

Silicone mallets are the best!!!
I could hear a scrapping noise with my rubber mallets . This silicone mallet doesn’t do that and sounds so much better !!! I will def being buying another one !!! Silicone is def the best!!!!

Beautiful sound!
This mallet is much better than the wrapped versions. You don't hear the sound of the friction and no fuzz produced. It produces a beautiful clear sound from the bowl. Every afficionado needs one of these
