Good brushes for those on a budget.
I am a huge fan of Royal & Langnickel and the wide range of art supplies that they offer. When the brushes arrived, I was optimistic about their quality as I had never had an issue with Royal & Langnickel's other products, however, after the first use of these brushes they began to shed bristles all over my watercolour painting. While some shedding is expected for new brushes, I purchased these brushes a while ago and it is still an issue. The painting quality of the brushes is adequate for the price and quality. They work well with watercolours, in both compacted block form and liquid tubes. Control with the brushes is an issue due to the bristles, I would recommend not to use too much water with them as they tend to drip on the paper or flick watercolour on other areas.Another issue with these brushes for long term usage is the paint which cover the handle. After a few weeks this paint began to chip and peel off the handle and would often land on my work.I purchased these brushes during my A Levels as I was enrolled on an A Level art course, I did not use the brushes much during the course due to the issues I have described. I would recommend these brushes as ‘filler’ brushes for a short amount of time. They would also be suitable for projects which water isn’t particularly needed during the painting process. While I gave these brushes a 3 star rating I have received a lot of use out of them and for the price I would recommend them, especially for students as set of 10 brushes for £4.93 is very good minus the previous mentioned issues. I would recommend the Royal and Langnickel Crafter’s Choice brushes which I use on a regular basis and are my favourite brushes (Linked). Pretty in Pink? Er Magenta? Don't be fooled by looks as these mean business.
Another great set of brushes at an unbelievable price when compared to what you would have to pay for a similar set with a well know name stamped on them!Makes me realise how much I have been royally ripped off in the past paying up to £12 - £13 for as single brush just because it has a known name. Wish I had cut the names off and stuck them on a board when those brushes needed replacing because boy did I pay a lot for the little bit of gold text stamped on the handle! There is only ONE reason these did not get 5 stars from me and that is strickly personal preference. I find the colour of the handle ghastly! It just makes them look like very cheap throw away kids brushes to me. Just a personal opinion.

Usable brushes on a budget.
I am happy with the quality of the bristles, they hold paint and water and apply it smoothly and there are definite benefits to be had from using Taklon brushes, especially if you are vegan or are opposed to using animal hair brushes for your work. There has been some shedding, but within expected levels really. The movement you can get with these soft bristles makes them ideal for watercolour. The bristles are easy to clean. For a budget choice, these brushes do the job, however I have found that despite careful use the paint flakes from them pretty much constantly. . This is a bit of a bugbear for me as it creates a mess and is distracting whilst working, when you're having to remove flecks of pink paint from your piece, or from your hands. If you are looking for brushes for occasional use, for lower level studying (GCSE, general art classes, that sort of thing) then these brushes will do you very well. If you are looking for something that is more of a workhorse and will get serious use, I think it is best to consider brushes as a slightly higher price point, especially ones that are not coated with paint.

very happy with this purchase - for the price the variety and cuts of the brushes are excellent. Great for beginnersI would advise though that the hairs are coming out, i normally have to stop and pull one or 2 out when i'm painting but this is to be expected from the price. Great otherwise, lots of fine tips as well; perfect for detail

Good for the price...
I just received the brushes this morning (not a very fast dispatch) and i am pleasantly surprised about the quality of them. Are quite well made excepting one that has sharp edges. The hair seams to stay very sticked in place for the moment. But i am not very convinced about the power of coverage with them...because i tried some washable paints from Crayola on a coloring book for children and it doesn't cover properly (is like i used water but i didn't, and the paints are tick enough). So...i am gone try some different paint (for example acrylic to see how it dose). For the moment only 3 stars rating.

An excellent buy
I just realised it's 2 years since I bought these and I forgot to review them! At least it gives me the chance to say how good they have been. The various shapes suit my style of painting perfectly and I've had no problems with the bristles coming out. I have other brushes but these are the ones I keep using most. Very pleased.

Great brushes, although slightly smaller than I expected
Bought these for my GCSE art course. Great brushes, although slightly smaller than I expected. I use these for watercolour, acrylic and oil painting and they work just fine. They do a great job at small details, I find the fan-shaped brush to be brilliant. However, I would recommend also investing in a set of larger brushes as these are more designed for detailing.
