and the mesh is easily removed from the ring
Arrived well ahead of schedule. Well packaged. Works very well and no problem fitting my oven. (12 litre) I used it as an extender as well, It is the same height, and the mesh is easily removed from the ring, (The mesh has a reinforcing ring around the periphery so no scratches). Works perfectly ( with the vent holes closed) so no need to buy one of those, and the handles make it much easier to handle than a normal extender. I place a piece of aluminium foil in the bottom of the oven bowl to catch drips and act as a reflector, keeping the bowl clean. I found the vents need to be open for chips as they generate a lot of steam. But streaky bacon, which by the way comes out crispy as you like and flat, produce a lot of fat spatter onto the oven lid.Its extended my cooking experience!

OK, but unconvinced of the benefit.
The food sits very close to the bulb so I can only ever use it to cook very small/flat things. I wanted to "fry" chicken wings, but I didn't like the way some of them were in contact with the bulb so I ended up just baking them without the fryer ring instead. I don't have an extension ring for my cooker so I cannot use this to give a little more room, as others have suggested.I've used it for cooking roasted vegetables and bacon and it did a decent job, but the halogen oven cooks that stuff anyway without the fryer ring so I'm not entirely sure what benefit this offers; so far the results seem to be pretty much the same as baking food normally. I don't eat chips so maybe I'm not quite the target market for this?

A great accessory
This is a very useful addition to the halogen oven - cooking chips on the ordinary rack was somewhat difficult!I now use this for cooking most items, as the food cooks very evenly and crisply - it feels 'lighter' somehow. With fatty things like sausages or bacon, the fat just drips out - I collect it in a tray below.Useful: the handles make it safe and simple to remove and take to the plates for serving.Less useful: there are ventilation holes below the mesh tray, with a moveable shutter - there appears to be no difference to the cooking results whether the holes are open or not!I thought cleaning would be difficult if bits of food got stuck in the mesh, but the whole mesh base just pops out and food brushes off easily.Although it was reasonably dear, fifteen pounds, compared with the cost of the whole oven [from Andrew James], I'm really pleased I bought it.

Air Fryer Ring Attachment for Halogen Oven
Delivered within time estimate and well packaged. The device works surprisingly well. Not quite as crisp as 'double dipping' in a fat fryer but acceptable nonetheless.I have tried thin and chunky cut chips and both are cooked well but you need to allow more time for the thicker chips if you want them to start browning.I find the recommended time and temperature needs increasing (200 degrees and 20 minutes) and you need to allow a little extra time for other foods if you are cooking them simultaneously in the lower part of the oven - particularly if you are cooking a lot of chips. I suspect the chips interfere with air flow and therefore reduce the cooking temperature at the bottom of the oven.A big bonus is the lack of smell that used to pervade the house when using a fat fryer. You use so little oil that the process is essentially odour free - you just smell the food!

New way to cook chips.
Have only used it once so far but very satisfied with it. It may look as though food is too close to the lamp but don't be deceived by that. Food cooks perfectly if you follow the instructions in the booklet. Forgot to place tray underneath so some juice/oil dripped through but had no effect on the food. Would definitely recommend this product and it beats messy deep fat fryers. I imagine bacon cooks perfectly as fat drips downwards and does not spit upwards! Have not tried that yet but have cooked bacon on a rack before and sausages with perfect results. If you don't have one of these yet put it at the top of your wishlist.

I have to watch my cholesterol and also don't like things swimming in oil
I have to watch my cholesterol and also don't like things swimming in oil. I have an Andrew James Halogen oven which I love, and have circled round the air fryers, but for one they take up a huge amount of room, and secondly they are really expensive. Anyway saw this and thought why not. It sits on top of glass bowl of the halogen over and then the lid is placed on top. It's about the same depth as the extender ring and when not in use slots onto that so not taking up any more storage space. I did it as directed used 1 tablespoon of oil for 400 gm of chips - cut fairly thick. And did them for 20 minutes. They were lovely and fluffy in the centre and crisp on the outside, however I think next time I'll use the extender ring as well, as the close proximity of the heater unit made some of them a little too brown. Haven't tried anything else yet, but am going to buy some Whitebait this weekend as it's currently in season here, and am looking forward to doing all sorts in it, courgettes, sausages etc. Cheap as chips to buy (yep that was a pun) recommend this to anyone who loves chips but not the fat.

Not sure why I have kept it!
This seemed like a brilliant idea! But what I have and which are becoming increasingly popular is a Halogen oven with a hinged lid..This means that the hinge has to be fully extended to insert the Air Fryer and you cannot then also use the extension ring to take the Halogen heating system in the lid high enough to avoid the food touching the element cover. So in effect it is unusable as for as I am concerned. I thought I was doing something wrong or missing a simple remedy until I had a 'light bulb' moment when about to write this review. There is nothing in the paperwork - what little there is of it - or in the description to avoid this purchase if you have the hinged lid type oven. SO BEWARE

Eine nützliche Erweiterung für flache(!) Lebensmittel
