Simply incredible value - performs better than solutions costing 5x as much
I bought this after a Corsair H55 was unable to keep a highly overclocked i7 from thermal throttling. One morning when I woke up to hear what sounded like the fluid inside the Corsair device bubbling/boiling I decided to return to air cooling.Eyeing up the £80 air cooling options, I saw the positive reviews for this and thought 'why not' and I'm glad I did. The six copper contacts provide excellent head transfer, the interior fan does an excellent job of cooling, and if you desire you can also (with some slight modifying, it's not an official kit or anything) attach to extra SP fans in a push-pull configuration for a triple fan cool fest. The downside to this is - it's quite noisy. Granted the setup I was using it on was always taxing it to the max, and it never let me down once (H55 would idle @ 85c, with this 45c, whilst under load temperatures rarely exceeded 65c) - but I have to confess I eventually replaced it with a dual radiator water cooling option. The temperatures are marginally better, and it's quieter but it cost £200 all in, I could have bought 10 of these of that. This represents tremendous value. Trust me, you do not have a processor that NEEDS better cooling than this. It's relatively small and compact compared to the more expensive offerings, and will keep ANYTHING at a sensible operational temperature. Downside - it's kinda noisy.EDIT: Having spent more time overclocking, and owning higher performance CPUs than the 3770k I had when I wrote the original review, I now retract my comment that you do not need a better cooler than this. Whilst I still maintain this is a fine cooler for most applications, and is tremendous value for money, it will not perform anything like as well as a Corsair Hydro or a large Noctua air-cooler for example. I still stand by the 5-stars, because for the money it's excellent and most people will never need more, but it would be untrue to say that there aren't plenty of people out there who would need a better performing cooler than this.

Easy to install and drop the cpu temps with ease
This may not be the most expensive (or cheapest) solution to a non-stock cpu cooler and there are undoubtedly better coolers for those wanting maximum temp reductions for their kit but this cooler has a number of important attributes that made it ideal for me: - Its fully installable from the front of the motherboard using a very simple bracket. Usually coolers this size or bigger need you to access the back of the MOBO to install a rear bracket to hold the weight of the cooler which is not ideal for me as I didn't want to have to take my MOBO out. So this one worked well for me and the bracket supplied holds the cooler fine once the PC is back upright- Its not so big as to obscure any RAM slots or other cards slots. Others can do this and I use all my slots thank you!- the fan is removable for a good clean and I assume replacement (but the design is rather specific so not just a case of replacing necessarily with the right sized fan)The cooler went into my machine in a few minutes. The bracket was easy to locate and fix but aligning the cooler onto that was a little bit harder just simply because its quite hard to see when it is properly aligned and sitting on the cpu and you have to almost assume good contact. Still went in easy and first start was quick and quiet with no errors and a very much cooler cpu. With my i7-3770k OC and playing BF3 on ultra temps have stayed below 50 deg C (compared to 90 deg C when I tried this briefly with the stock cooler!) and it runs normally at about 30 deg C.One thing to note is it is a low rpm fan so if your BIOS has warnings on low rpm on things like the cpu (like mine does) you will need to reset the warning level to a lower rpm than the stock one as otherwise you may get BIOS fan error. So all in all a good product to achieve good temp improvements against a stock cooler but as I said at the start, there are probably better options but at a cost. Highly recommended.

Really good cooler
I have to say I expected more from this one. Primarily from it's size. It is huge and won't easily fit on most mobos or inside many cases. I got a fantastic ASUS Sabertooth mobo and thus is was not problems installing this thing, but it might stand over some ram slots in some other boards. Generally it comes with pre-applied thermal paste, it is applied very well, although could be thicker. It is not the best paste in the world but it works well. What I noticed about the way it works is that it can't easily cope with high stress. When CPU is at 100% it lets the temperature rise to 50 C (not above though) and I have Intel i7 2600 unlocked and OCd a little. So it is not AMD and thus not a very hot processor, however the cooler cools extremely fast. So fast it literally drop temperature from 50 to 35 in a blink of an eye, and I am not joking. What I primarily found to be disappointing is the size/performance ratio and the lack of extra fan. The latter is a major one. I took a fan off my old cooler and strapped it on this one just to see the difference (literally strapped, using rubber bands, cuz the fan didn't the necessary parts to attach it with) and I haven't removed it because the performance rose by 60-70%. Which is quite logical if you know some physics. This tower design needs 2 fans. Problem is in a cooler master HAF X with Sabertooth an extra fan is not a problem, but most mobos and cases would really struggle with fitting that thing in. So I would recommend buying this if you are sure that you have space. This thing is BIG.Well, other that that it a very good cooler and it is almost silent. In fact it makes less noise that your hard drive, which is quite phenomenal if you ask me. Just be sure to install a second fan on it, and attach it properly to keep it silent. The cooler has a good design and a tool-free installation as well, which made installing the thing really easy for me. If the second fan that you buy is LED it will also look really cool because it's design is quite badass and if you have a window in your case this cooler will do good for show-off, which, let's be honest, we, OC gamers, all like a lot.

Silencioso y efectivo

- Every computer needs a good processor. Intel currently leads in performance (Sorry AMD) ...
Amazon once again helps us to fulfill all of our shopping needs. This Christmas we are surprising our daughter with all the component that she need to build herself a computer that will definitely make her classmates jelly. Computer assembly isn't difficult for noobs, but to the uninformed saying that your built your own is definitely impressive. With each system you need to make sure that you purchase certain components. This is what we got her:1. Case: Thermaltake Versa N21 Translucent Panel ATX Mid Tower Window Gaming Computer Case Cases CA-1D9-00M1WN-00 - This case is a simple sleek design that will help protect the vital components from her younger sister's tiny fingers.2. Power supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1, 80+ GOLD 650W, Fully Modular, 10 Year Warranty, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester, Power Supply 120-G1-0650-XR - This power supply was one of the highest rates, quality built, cost effective supplies available.3. Motherboard: Gigabyte LGA 1151 Z170 2-Way SLI UEFI DualBIOS ATX DDR4 ATX DDR4 NA Motherboards GA-Z170XP-SLI - We chose this Motherboard because it will allow us to add up to three m.2 SSD hard drives at a later date, perhaps her birthday.4. Processor: Intel Core i5 6600K 3.50 GHz Quad Core Skylake Desktop Processor, Socket LGA 1151, 6MB Cache (BX80662I56600K) - Every computer needs a good processor. Intel currently leads in performance (Sorry AMD)5. Heat Sink: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan - Heatsinks are important to help transfer heat away from the processor and help to avoid it from overheating. Water cooling is very effective but introduce additional points of failure. We chose this because she isn't heavy into gaming but it will allow her to explore.6. Ram: Corsair memory kit 16.0 DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) (QTY:2) - 32gb of ram is a bit overkill but provides additional room for growth.7. Well performing and silent
This is a great cooler, assuming that you can get it for a reasonable price. Many features like twin towers and complete copper plate for CPU contact make it work well. Doesn't look the best, though you might prefer a design in which you cant see the fan.My full video review with performance benchmarks, and overclocking with this cooler can be found on the YouTube link below:[...]
