very good, for my wife, she is very happy with it and says it is easy to use.

This is a brilliant steam generator / iron. What is so pleasing also is that it has a self clean facility so that you do not need to seek out other purchases to clean it. However, what is really worrying at the start is that the self clean function activates after a certain amount of water has been used (5 litres?) . No problem there except that if it reaches the self clean activation time as you are using the iron, then the steam no longer is produced and the iron does not continue to produce steam but only buzzes at you when pull the trigger. You can continue as a dry iron though. Also the unfortunate thing is that you have to wait until the iron has completely cooled down before switching it on and allowing it to go into its cleaning cycle. If you try to switch on before it has completely cooled down then it will not go into the cleaning cycle and you tend to think that the iron is broken. Having said all of that - a brilliant iron but it would have been far better if the instructions had been far clearer about this aspect of it. Now I know what I have to wait until the iron is completely cold when the descale light comes on, I will not worry as much.

Has worked consistently well for over six years. I use the distilled water from the reservoir in my condenser tumble dryer when I fill it. I think that has stopped potential failures due to calcium build up in my hard water area.

Great iron. Very powerful on the high setting. I have tried a Phillips Steam Generator Iron previous to this one, but returned it as it was spitting out brown water when you used the steam function. I'm sad to say that this iron, on occasion has the same issue despite having a Scale function that is automatic. It has happened, perhaps, 3 or maybe 4 times and nowhere near as much as the Phillips. This Morphy Richards only seems to do it on the highest steam setting, though. That aside, this is a great iron. Powerful enough on the low or middle setting to remove creases easily. One downside, I find, is the heat that is given off the ironing area is very high. Humidity is the word I'd use! So when ironing in the summer, you will get a sweat on! Nice big water tank that can be removed while the iron is on. It does empty pretty fast if the high setting is used, though. One irritation is the scale function. It is automatic and, as far as I'm aware, cannot be overridden. It will activate after a certain amount of times switched on. It only takes a few minutes (5 max) but you can't use the iron while its descaling. I've found it best to set up the iron first and leave it to warm up while I sort out the other stuff, clothes and hangers etc. It is quite heavy too when it's full of water, so you will need a sturdy ironing board or somewhere to mount the iron like a sideboard etc. Overall, I would purchased this iron again if I needed to.

Has 3 different steam settings so can you can increase steam pressure if necessary for badly creased clothing. Lowest pressure good enough for most things. Generator descales it self and puts dirty water in dirty water tank which is built into main water tank and can be emptied separate to main tank when full. So when descaling light comes on you do nothing and wait for light to go out and then empty dirty water. The iron can be locked onto base so does not fall off when moving generator around. Iron not too big and not too heavy . makes ironing easy including bed sheets. Cord length is 2 meters 6ft 6inches. excellent buy

After 20 years of good service, our trusty old steam iron started tripping the house circuit breaker; it was time for it to meet its maker. I read some reviews and decide on this Morphy-Richards steam generating model. We’ve never had one of those before, and when it arrived, my wife looked at it with some mild alarm, great big thing that made noises like a barista style coffee machine. Don’t want to sound like some “She does the ironing, I watch the footie” lazy bloke, she does the ironing watching the footie while I wash her car...On to the review, because the steam is generated in the base, the iron is lighter than a traditional steam iron and the time between refills is a lot longer, in fact one fill will do a whole week’s ironing, rather than the 4 or 5 refills required before. But the real difference is the amount of steam: ironing takes 30% less time. The machine itself is self cleaning and only requires tap water, so saves messing about with de-ionised water, although the instructions say you should use 50/50 tap/de-ionised, we use filtered water from the kitchen tap and all seems fine. Everyone who uses it remarks on the speed at which you can get ironing done, it really makes that much difference. In terms of build quality, the plastics are well fitting and look to be built to last, the temperature dial is the only slightly disappointing thing, it feels a bit flimsy and does not have the iron with the dot symbols like our old one does. Most clothing has these symbols, it’s not a deal-breaker, but as this is the major user control, just a bit more quality here would add to the overall feeling of good build quality of the rest of the machine. Overall, a good purchase, I am hoping that it is even half as durable as the last one and I’ll be happy.

This is the worst piece of electrical equipment I have ever purchased!! After 7 months it had scaled up and was leaking water from the connections between the tank and the machine body. On contacting Morphy Richards I was eventually told that additional descaling might be necessary ,though this is not mentioned in any of their literature, I know because I have read the instruction booklet thoroughly. So much for Self cleaning and Auto Clean. I was extremely disappointed in their customer service and told them that this would appear to be a manufacturing flaw and very misleading documentation to say the least. It would appear they were quite happy for me to complain to Amazon to obtain a refund. Against my better judgement we descaled the iron and religiously made sure we only used De-ionised/Tap water 50/50. May I add at this point that we live in a very soft water area and have absolutely no scale in any equipment in our home. We have never needed to use salt in our dishwasher or use Calgon or similar products in our washing machine. Our taps and other bath/basin hardware is scale free. I believe that Morphy Richards are well aware of this fault and are quite prepared to "Wrong foot " any complaints. Sept 25 This Steam generator has stopped producing any steam whatsoever. Having contacted them again and been told that once again I must provide photos, videos, and confirming documents to prove date of purchase etc, I have decided to cut my losses and buy another make. I just know that they will not honour their obligations to genuine customers. I was sold a PUP and I am calling it a day. BUYER BEWARE!!

This arrived yesterday in a opened box without paperwork-warranty and manual.The whole unit was dirty and dusty and clearly had been used. The iron was damaged with missing coating and scratches and there was scale around the steam holes.I tried it once to see if it would be ok but rusty water poured onto my sheet.
