Extremely Disappointed! Do Not Buy!
Do not buy this case! I was really looking forward to this case, I thought it was a really cool idea and because of this I ignored all the negative reviews thinking "that won't happen to me"... How wrong was I?! When the case arrived there were scuffs and scratches on the clear plastic backing, even with the packaging still intact, something another few reviewers had already picked up on. Then the actually dot view display panel didn't properly flatten onto the front of the phone (this wasn't a deal breaker but it was annoying and it made the actual dot view less clear). The front panel is made in a way that it's always meant to spring back onto the front screen, which at first I thought was clever because it meant, if dropped, the front cover would protect the screen, but it became increasingly uncomfortable as time went on, something other reviews have stated. And the icing on the cake, the front dot view panel is connected to the clear plastic backing with a rubber seam, this has split and torn the two parts of the case apart and rendered it completely useless after only 4 weeks use, something which has been experienced by several other buyers.Incredibly disappointed, as I was really looking forward to this accessory. PLUS, HTC do not have warranty on their accessory products and do not accept returns or refunds. Therefore I am down twenty odd quid and have a two separate parts of a useless phone case to show for it.Please save yourself the hassle and disappointment. But if you do choose to go with the Dot View Case, I hope you have better luck than I did.

Not durable, it will break, you will be annoyed/sad
Truthfully, the coding of one star meaning 'I hate it' is unfair. I didn't hate the case. The HTC Dot functionality is really cool and I definitely got the case for the advertised functionality. I do hate that I spent £22.89 on something broke a month after purchasing it. And, I hate that I was warned through other comments that it would happen. So, please heed this warning, it will break, and you will be disappointed.I don't use my phone that often, I really don't think I over-used the case, I don't think I treated it roughly or in any way that would cause the plastic to split. But sure enough it split at the crease. And, realistically, what did the designers expect? It's rubber that will be opened and closed and get fatigued. Grumble, hindsight is 20/20 on this one.I would suggest not purchasing this as it is not durable and you will be disappointed. I certainly am disappointed that I wasted money on this case.

Useful, and cool!
After spending a fair few months with this case, I really like it. I bought the blue version, just so there wasn't too much grey/black going on as I have the gunmetal grey One M8. The case works great, even with a screen protector on the front. You can clearly see what is being shown on the case, like the time, notifications and who is calling. You don't even have to open the case to answer or decline a call (or you just put it to your ear). The app "HTC Dot View" can let you change the wallpaper that is displayed through the case, or even have a live moving wallpaper. There is even the ability to play a game called "Dot Breaker", and you can create your own wallpaper by using a tool. The case is pretty strong and completely waterproof (but don't wash it with your phone inside), but it probably wouldn't protect your phone from a bad fall as it's just plastic. The design of the case (the front) being made out of some kind of rubber material makes it easy to wake up your device by tapping or swiping on the case. One of the slightly annoying things is that the case automatically closes after you let it free and won't stay open, as far as I have had it. So if you are one handed texting or browsing, it can become a little bit annoying to keep back; (because then the phone automatically locks when the case closes). I sometimes find that I will use the gel case that came in the box with the phone on days when I don't feel like the hassle, but it's not that bad. The case looks good it looks unusual, people will say "Wow, how does that work?" and get confused. I often get asked if the case has it's own screen inside it then I open the case to show that it's just the phone. The boomsound speakers (which are also excellent) are still able to play with no difference with the case closed, and I can even control the music from the case; (using Google Play Music app). I do recommend this case as it's something different, no other phone has this capability. Well, there is the One M9 and I'm out dated again, but oh well.

Fiddly and impractical.
I like the novelty of the Dot View, especially since the latest versions of the app introduced more functionality. The problem has been the actual use of the case. It's near impossible to use the phone one handed whilst holding the cover open, this is particularly evident if you are attempting to take photos, as folding the cover to the back of the phone will obscure the lens. The phone does tend to come out of the case very easily when dropped, maybe that has saved my phone from damage but it doesn't look so reassuring as the phone slides off down the street minus it's cover. I don't normally drop my phone, or at least I didn't until I had this cover which tends to cause me to drop it!Finally, the cover actually became damaged quite quickly (too many of those one handed photo attempts mentioned above) and so would no longer hold the phone at all, so it ended up in the bin after a short time.In summary the case was definitely not suitable for my needs, I've reverted to the silicon cover that actually came with the phone itself and the phone is actually spending less time on the floor as a result.
