BT are useless! Just get one of these. 35mb to 65mb in 3 minutes.
I paid for infinity broadband in November 2015. I chose option 2 up to 76mb. For 2 months I had been receiving 30-35mb. This is fast but not what I was paying for. My guaranteed minimum line at signup was 46mb. I started to persist with BT to either fix the line or lower my payments for Infinity option 1 which is up to 38mb.BT logged a fault and sent a telephone engineer to resolve my broadband problem. They also tried to charge me £129.99 which is just laughable. The telephone engineer arrived on time; he tested the line and said there were no faults. I asked him to tell me the fastest the line could go and he replied with the amount I'd been getting which was 35mb max as the line had no fault. He briefly mentioned that there was ’something else’ I could use that might improve the speed but not too much in his opinion. I called BT support with this information.I explained what the engineer had said about the max speed and the minimum I was guaranteed. Support reacted as if they didn’t know what I was talking about. Maybe they didn't but it's clear on their website. Search 'minimum guaranteed line BT' in Google.I asked the advisor if I could pay the rate of Infinity 1. They advised they couldn't downgrade me but then placed in a different department. This department agreed to downgrade me but it would cost £21.20 per month as opposed to the current 'new customer' rate of £12.50. It may have seemed reasonable but I'm too agitated to accept. I'd like the new customer rate for my troubles. Besides, I can get up to 38mb from another provider for cheaper than £21.60 + cashback.I explained that I want to leave the contract. The advisor placed me on hold. After 15 minutes he came back and said I could 'negotiate' a price with the faults department. Transferred to faults. It was there I was advised a telephone engineer may not troubleshoot a broadband issue. She explained something to me about a 'test socket'. Never heard of it. Anyway.. managed to get it plugged in. My speed shot from 32mb to 62mb instantly. The advisor went on to explain the faceplate was faulty. She advised BT will not replace it because there is no fault on the line. I should get a professional in the area to do it. I purchased this faceplate on Amazon for under £15 and my internet has doubled with a steady 60-65mb.I suspect the ‘something else’ the telephone engineer mentioned was a new faceplate or broadband accelerator. I was not clued up about these devices at the time. BT need to send the right engineers out. Even if they aren’t going to fix the problem, they can advise customers more thoroughly. I admit, I’m a bit of noob when it comes to things like this but I expect so are lots of other people. This is such a simple, cheap & straightforward fix to a distressing problem. Feeling cheated by your internet provider!I’m not saying it’s going to work for everybody, but if your internet is slower than expected; try one of these. I got a massive jump but even the smallest amount would have been welcome. Screw off and on in a few minutes. I didn’t bother with the extension wires because I don’t use the landline but I suspect it’s very simple to connect judging by other reviews. This device is pricier than some others but I chose it because I like the design. I did expect it to have a BT logo but that’s negligible. It works as it should. Completely over the moon.I hope my review was useful. Sorry if I’ve went on and on but BT do my head in *sigh*

It's white plastic...
so it isn't going to win any beauty contests. However, it fitted over my standard BT master backplate just fine. It's supplied with two different sets of screws depending on the female side in the back plate. Mine was labeled 'VDSL' rather 'ADSL' but it works fine on my ADSL connection. Fitting is easy, unscrew old faceplate, screw on new one and plug in router+phone. Check for dial tone and all will be good. Not sure if it was related, but I did get a few hundred more Ks down after I connected it up :-)

Success !
This resolved a troublesome issue I have been having for a long time, I wish I had thought of it sooner !My internet was randomly stopping and needing to be re-started, sometimes a few times a day and sometimes a few times an hour and nothing I tried made any difference.I tried 3 different routers, a few different PC's lot's of different OS'es, alternate Network Managers and settings, different Wi-Fi set ups, Ethernet cables, filter plugs, power plug systems etc, etc but never considered changing the faceplate !When I took the old one off I noticed it had been wired with an old extension cable which was no longer in use and don't know where it went to so I removed that then plugged in the new faceplate with built in filter so I could dispose of the external filter. The built in filter is much more comprehensive than any inline filter could be.Very happy my problem is now greatly reduced but not entirely resolved, I still have a couple of drop outs now and then.I wish I had thought of this much sooner but you would never suspect a socket of being at fault.

Good piece of kit!
I can say I am thoroughly impressed in this kit. It has definately improved my broadband speeds. I was initially getting 3.5Mbps - now just over 6Mbps.Installation:You will need a crimper and I would recommend a good crimper tool, as the boards in these filters are very flimsy and can easily break when too much pressure is applied. The rest is easy, A + B for blue wire and white wire. Number 2 for orange wire and number 5 for white wire. Plug into test socket. Job done.Expectations:Before you buy this I would seriously think about the realistic speeds you will achieve. There are many factors which contribute to the overall speed in broadband. Do your own tests before purchasing:Its vital you run speed test as this will give you an idea of what your are achieving. Run several speed tests (Java based speed tests are better), record the scores, then disconnect your equipment and test directly into the master test port (with phones and faxes completely disconnected) and make sure only one device is connected to the router via ethernet cable. Then perform speed tests again and record the scores. If you notice a large difference in speed test scores i.e. an improvement in speeds than this will confirm the purchase of this product. If you don't then you won't really achieve much gain, if any at all. I would say if you notice speed differences of 2.5Mbps or plus then definately worth getting. If you notice 0.5Mbps difference.. then its not really worth the effort (common sense).Broadband is a vast topic but the above is a general test that you, the End User can perform.I hope the above helps and those that have said this product failed... its probably due to your line length and the copper degrading (or simply that your speed is optimal based on line conditions)... there is a solution for that too, but for another day.I would recommend this product.
