so that I could easily connect them to the dualshock
I had the gamecom 780 headset before this one, but since it was usb input headset (and I broke the headband when taking them out O.o), when I bought the PS4 I had to look for a headset with 3.5mm jack, so that I could easily connect them to the dualshock, so around 5 months I bought this headset(circa 45 or 50 Pounds) the main uses I give these are PC gaming( mostly CS:GO), PS4, and music listening (wether on PC, phone, or music player). now this next part might be confusing without you seeing the mini-amp (refered troughout as MA) so go here: http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/ps3-headsets/ear-force-px22/344 and click on how does it work under details so you can see a picture showing the different inputs/outputs the mini-amp has. just to make it clear, YOU DON'T NEED TO USE THE MA FOR THE HEADSET TO WORK, but you dont have any controller over volume or something else without it. This headset has the MA, wich is not more than a 'sound mixer', where you can control the high(trebles) frequencies, low(bass) frequencies, game and chat volumes. Let me give you an IMPORTANT HEADS UP: in order for this MA to actually work, you need to have it connect to some sort of energy-given component, like a PC or a portable battery used to charge your phone on the go, with an usb port since the MA needs to be powered in order to work, and if you have both MA usb and 3.5 mm jack connected to the same device, you wont be able to use the treble and bass wheels, wich is a shame. When listening to music and wanting to play with treble and bass, I have to plug the MA's usb to my portable battery, and the 3.5mm to where the music is being played (cellphone, mp3 player,PC,etc...) Given this, I use the mini-amp only when playing PC games just to adjust the volume of the game and my microphones volume, and I just connect the headset directly to my dualshock when playing on ps4, same goes for when I am listening to music in my phone. I would like to mention that with both treble and bass wheels you can get really awsome and dedicated frequencies, depending on what you want to listen to, this is specially awsome when listening to music (get them trebles to the max when listening to guitar solossss!!) overall, this headset's biggest strenght is that you can use it wether you play on pc, consoles, or just to listen to music on your music player and phones(oh! you can actually use the microphone when someone calls you on your phone, making this a great cellphone-hands-free device as well). some other relevant points are: *noise cancelling *comfortable, *good audio quality *headband (seems) very resistant *the mini-amp gives you some sound flexibility the not so good things: *the material for the cable doesn't seem the most resistant, so and the cable, especially near the 3.5mm, carefully *the MA is to much trouble to put to work when using the headset on the Playstation or music player. for the price I payed I'm a satisfied costumer, hence the 5 stars, though the MA is too much trouble too use most of the time it doesn't take quality off of the product since thi is a good quality headset, it just adds to it. I recommend them if your uses for this headset are listed above. IF YOU ARE BUYING A HEADSET JUST TO PLAY FPS GAMES ON PC, I dont recommend this headset, buy a 7.1 headset.

Very good audio quality, could have a stronger frame
I own two of these headsets, I gave the first one to someone else after the the clip on the volume box broke, I needed to be able to clip it to my jeans to move around easily. The second pair (my current pair) like the first is a great headset, the audio quality is good for both input and output not amazing but quite good, to get better you'd have to pay much more. The clip has not broken on this one yet but both pieces of plastic above the ear pieces have began to crack and one has now almost completely broken. Because of the way the headset tries to stay tight on the head it it instead pushing the broken piece of plastic into my skull. My attempts to tape over the cracks have stopped it from completely braking apart but doesn't stop the headsets attempt to make in incision into my skull. This has forced me to purchase a third pair, I have considered other headsets but always end up wanting this one. So be aware if you have a large head, be weary that it is likely that this may happen to you. I previously gave this item four stars, it was a very good headset but could be a bit stronger, I am now certain it needs to be stronger for the headset isn't even six months old and broke on me.

Good Gaming Headset
First of, the PX22s have amazing audio quality. It works on everything - from MP3 players to consoles. The microphone is also very good, I recommend keeping it two to three finger spaces away from your mouth. You could probably use the microphone as something for recording YouTube videos, not just VOIP. One of the really cool things about this headset is you can plug an MP3 player into the amp and have the amp plugged into a console or computer. It'll let you listen to audio coming from the console and MP3 player, putting the sounds together. The amp lets have fun with your audio, it adjusts the base, treble, how loud you hear yourself, how loud you hear others and how loud the main audio is. The only downside to these headphones is the fact that they aren't amazingly confortable. If you have glasses, they can dig in, so you'll need a breather every now and then. Other than that, the PX22s are extremely good for gaming, or whatever you desire, as long as it's to do with audio!

Good headset and the most versatile of the Turtle Beach range.
I bought this headset to replace my PX21 which I've been using for a few years now with my PS3, laptop and TV. The PX22 also works with Vita and mobile devices, which is fine but not exactly practical. Regardless, it's always nice to have more options than fewer. My worry when buying the PX22 was that it was basically a PX21 repackaged. In all honesty, I can't detect any increase in audio quality but, in my opinion, the build is much improved. the headset is lighter, smaller, more comfortable and does a much better job of reducing the penetration of external noise. I also prefer the mic's design, though I haven't yet used it to sample quality. The ability to control the bass has been carried over from the PX21 and now there is also a dial to control the treble. The ability to adjust the volume of other players' mics independently of the game volume returns, along with a new dial to control your audio output volume. There are also more options for muting than simply on or off. My only point of reference for the PX22 is the PX21, a device I made great use of. The PX22 is as good or better in every way, as best I can tell. I would imagine there are better headsets available for people only interested in using them on one specific device (there certainly are much more expensive ones) but for anyone looking for a somewhat universal headset, I highly recommend the PX22.

Secondly the microphone is very thin and bends easily in a way that feels it will break very ...
Had to change my old headset as the microphone wasn't working. I was introduced to this by a friend and must say I was excited to get them. Few points I want to make. First there is always background noise when nothing is playing. Secondly the microphone is very thin and bends easily in a way that feels it will break very easily. Also I wish there was bigger extension on the wire itself for no use of any other. A year later and the jack doesn't work anymore...

Disappointing purchase.
I can't give one star because the headset is not bad it has good audio for the price and are comfortable. The biggest let down is that they are either very fragile or not built to last. I have had mine since March and the other week one of the speakers fell off. My headset is always wrapped up and stored away after use and granted I do use them everyday but I would have expected them to last at least a year seeing as though TB is so big in gaming audio. All in all I'm a little disappointed as I only brought these as a tester before buying a more expensive set.

Great Headphones, mic and comfort
The sound and quality of these headphones are really good. Microphonee quality is crisp and clear, good enough to make videos if thats your thing, but really clear for online gaming. Lots of great sliders for bass, treble and importantly one for microphone volume and essentially one that allows you to increase or decrease what you can hear from the room you are in. If the wife is watching EastEnders I can turn Dot Cotton down, if I have just had a row with the wife, I can turn the function up, and can hear her calling me a toss pot under her breath. Honestly no bounds to its usefulness. They are also really, really comfortable. I wear glasses so sometimes headphones like this squash the frames against my delicate little face. These are firm but fair in that regard. The ear pads are also nice a big, so jug eared people like myself can fit the entirety of my lugs inside without the pad resting on half of them. Not found a pair of headphones that manage this apart from these and it means long gaming sessions don't result in you needing to constantly move the position of the pads around. My first set broke after my son managed to trap them in a door. I bought another pair right away, so that's a testimonial in itself.

Not bad, was expecting better though.
I purchased this headset as a replacement for my Logitech G35 headset based on the positive reviews and I have to say they aren't as good as I was hoping they would be. I wasn't expecting the headset to be as good as my Logitech G35's, however; there is a vast difference in the quality of the product. The headset feels cheaply made, the inline amp feels cheap and tacky, like it would crack or break easily. The wire from the USB to the amp is thin compared to the rest of the wiring and none of the wiring has any protection to give you the feel of a quality product. That been said the headset is very easy to use, you just plug it in and away you go. It fits very nicely on my head; it has a snug fit and doesn't feel too heavy compared to other headsets I've tried. The headset seems to have a very good microphone on it, very crisp and clear. You can adjust the position of the microphone too which is nice. It doesn't automatically mute the microphone when you return the microphone upright to the side of the headset, you have to mute it via the inline amp which takes a little getting used to, and finally the microphone isn't noise-cancelling so it picks up a lot of background noise when trying to talk to people. I use my headset on Skype and it works very well on there, but the person on the other end of the call can hear what I'm listening to in the background which I don't really like, I guess that's due to the lack of the noise-cancelling headphone. The overall sound quality of the headset is okay, but it's nothing special. After spending the last 3 year using a surround sound headset you can really hear the difference between standard sound and surround sound. This headset does have option to adjust the base and treble on the inline amp but it doesn't really give you a good overall sound experience in my opinion, the base feels like it's lacking and when you turn the sound up to full it feels like it struggles and doesn't give you very clear sound, it sounds a little distort. I guess it's okay if you're switching from in-ear headphones or a very basic headset, the sound is very acceptable but if you're looking to replace a surround sound headset then I would suggest going down that route again as you'll notice the difference in sound quality. The headset does have some pretty nice features like being able to connected your mobile phone or mp3 player to the inline amp and you can take a call while gaming and switch it to the phone setting and be able to talk away without the other people being able to listen in to the conversation so you always feel like you're connected. So would I recommend this product? Yes and no. If you're looking to upgrade from something like in-ear headphones or a basic headset then yes I would recommend it, you would be very pleased with your purchase and enjoy the headset, it would offer you much better sound than what you're used to. However, if you're looking for something you can use to listen to music, movies and just want an overall decent sound experience then I wouldn't recommend it. I would suggest spending a little more money and buying a headset with surround sound and a better overall feel to it so you feel like you own something that hasn't just been put together without any care. Pros: The price is very acceptable. Feels comfortable on the head. Interesting features on the inline amp. Cons: The lack of surround sound really hurts this headset. No noise-cancelling microphone. The overall quality of the product feels cheap.

Excellent Performance for a Reasonable Price
BACKGROUND: I never really considered sound as an important area to spend money on with console gaming. I own a Logitech G35 7.1 surround sound headset for my PC, and I absolutely love it. Being a PC enthusiast gamer the ~ $125 price tag was justified at the time, and it was worth it considering how much it added to the experience. I built my current PC a few years ago when I felt the PS3 and Xbox 360 were overdue for next gen, and before that I had never thought about getting a quality headset for console gaming. Enter the next gen systems with PS4 and Xbox One. What really spurred me to want to look into console gaming headsets was the fact that the PS4 makes it so easy. I just had one requirement- something with a 3.5mm jack to plug into the DS4. I did some research and found lots of people commenting on their current Turtle Beach headsets and how many were working fine on the PS4. My Logitech G35 actually works fine on PS4 plugged into USB, but the sound quality of the G35 in stereo is not great. I also wanted something that would work with the Xbox One as well. The X1 controller has a proprietary headset jack on the controller now, but they announced that they would be releasing an adapter. So I aimed for a Turtle Beach pair for PS4 compatibility, future Xbox One compatibility, and based off of all the positive reviews I had read about them. The PX22 fit the bill. Its a universal headset with an inline amp that is advertised to work on PS4 and Xbox One (audio only), so the flexibility was a plus. I also snagged it for a great price, on sale for $55 (retails for $80). For the price, I really don't think you could find a better performing gaming headset. For the PS4, I'm just plugging the detachable 3.5mm cable from the headset directly into the DS4 controller. It works great, you can adjust audio levels in the PS4 OS. For the Xbox One, I'm using a Digital to Analog converter from the optical connection in the back of the console, and I'm using the inline amp and plugging the 3.5mm headphone cable into the DAC. I'm getting game audio, and the headset comes with an Xbox 360 chat cable that plugs into the inline amp (and then into the 360 controller) that I'm assuming will work with the yet released Xbox One adapter. So I will be covered for chat in the future, no worries there. SOUND QUALITY: The sound quality of this headset really blew me away. I wasn't expecting much honestly, I had read mixed reviews on the sound quality before purchasing. Honestly, after hearing this headset first hand I do not understand the negative reviews at all. The sound quality on Xbox One using the inline amp is outstanding. The directional sound is incredible in Forza 5, I can hear cars coming up from behind for the pass, and I can hear which of my wheels is losing traction. I've found that increasing the bass slightly on the inline amp gives the best mix. The bass is excellent on these headphones, its much more hard hitting than the bass on my Logitech G35s even at the default setting. The clarity of sound is also very good, much more clean than any headphones I've used previously. On the PS4 plugging into the DS4, I've found that the sound quality does not suffer at all without using the inline amp. Its still just as awesome, you just lose the ability to alter treble and bass and mic volume. What's great is that the DS4 basically makes these into a wireless headset, since all you need to do is plug into the controller. I've used these on AC4, NBA 2K14 and Killzone Shadow Fall and have been really impressed. I'm hearing lots more detail in AC4 including footsteps, rustling of leaves and bushes, and the ambient music soundtrack that I didn't even realize was there before listening through these headphones. They really shine for a shooter like Killzone Shadow fall, the amazing directional sound adds to the immersion and also helps you play better. I also tried these on my PC to compare to my G35 7.1 pair, and I was really impressed with the results. Despite the fact that these are only stereo, I actually felt like the directional sound was better on the PX22s than the G35. Its probably because the overall sound quality is just better. The bass is especially noticeable, makes the explosions and rumbling tank sounds in BF4 even more immserive. Overall, I'm really impressed with the sound quality. ABOUT WIRES: The PX22s are a wired headset, and depending on how you are using them, there can be a lot of wires going on. With the PS4 its essentially wiress with just the headphones connecting to the DS4. However on Xbox One, once the adapter releases my setup will be the headset plugged into the inline amp, which is plugged into the DAC from the optical cable out the back of the console with a USB split at the end plugged into the console's USB port, and then also an additional chat cable from the inline amp leading to the X1 controller adapter. Its really only an extra cable with the chat cable, but those who hate lots of wires should probably steer clear. On PC you would need to plug the inline amp into a USB port, and use a headphone and mic splitter to plug into your sound card. Its more annoying than a simple USB headset like I have with the G35, but its not that much of a mess. I think the complaints about all the wires are overblown...setup is really simple, and all of the options allow this headset to be truly universal. BUILD QUALITY: I've seen a lot of complaints about build quality. I'm really not sure why. I think my G35s are better built quality for sure, but I also paid over double what I paid for the PX22s. I don't find the build quality of the PX22s to be bad at all, the material used on the ear pieces feel fine against my ears, the headband has leather coverings, and the mic feels pretty solid. The wiring is relatively thick and doesnt tangle easily. I also don't have any problems with the headset being tight as other reviewers have said, it feels just fine on my head and is perfectly comfortable. TL;DR Excellent sound quality, works on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for audio with chat in the future. Directional sound is the best I've heard from a stereo headset. Comfortable fit, wires might be a turn off for some. For the price, I'm really happy with this headset.
