Top class stylus
Bought this as upgrade from the OM5E which I’d bought recently but though good , I wasn’t entirely happy with so decided to take a chance and try a more expensive upgrade. The Ortofon 20 is fantastic. It can really handle itself. The OM5E i found couldn’t handle some passages and the bass was too much boom boom . I mean , I love a good bass but in some more recent vinyl releases it drowned out a little everything else. The Ortofon captures just the right amount of bass. All instruments are separated very well. No distortion even on the last track of a side on albums where sometimes the OM5E couldn’t find the depth of the groove so well. The Ortofon 20 is confident and , well, like I said , it can really handle itself. That’s the best way I can describe it. A bit more expensive than I’ve ever paid for a stylus but I think it’s well worth the investment. Really happy with it and will be spending many hours rediscovering my vinyl and hearing stuff in the music I’d never heard before. A top class stylus.

A sound improvement.
I am a fan of the Ortofon Concorde cartridges. They have amazing output and sound superb though my system. The OM styli range fit these but I want more than the standard array of spherical DJ styli and the hard to find bonded elliptical offerings. I have been using the excellent Reloop Vibe carts but decided to splash out and use an OM20 on my Reloop Concorde Vibe. The difference was astounding. A nude diamond stylus makes so much difference to the overall sound and sounds better than the Audio Technica VM95EN version. Well worth the high price and with careful treatment should last a very long time. Worth noting that I track these at 2g not the recommended 3g. Better for your records and your ears.

Crystal Clear, excellent upgrade
Bought a Project-III turntable with an OM 5E several years ago and it was fine. However, after a heavy-handed accident, I needed a replacement and decided to jump two steps to the 20. Very glad I did; the reproduction is excellent. While the 5E was fine, the 20 just ratchets it up; great stereo separation, great instrument separation, great definition in the upper end and a mid-to-bass that is warm and drives the music along nicely. Crystal clear with lovely balance. Very happy indeed.Kit: Pro-Ject Debut III / OM 20 / Sonos Amp / Dali Spektor 2 / Atacama

Stellar performance
The OM20 is a fantastic stylus at this level of price. I upgraded from an Ortofon OM10 and the improvement is vast, particularly in the ability to track. I am finding that I am no longer getting any inner groove distortion, which was a problem with the OM10. The music sounds lively, rich and well detailed. I have tried this stylus with a wide range of pop, classical, jazz and dance music. It never fails to deliver, even on some of my older beat up charity vinyl! A real winner at under £100.1 year after purchase: This stylus has had very heavy use indeed and there is no drop off in quality. I am enjoying my records like never before. An excellent product and I may well be tempted in the future to upgrade further to the OM30.

Worthwhile upgrade
Swapped to this from an OM10 on my Pro-ject Essentials III and have been very impressed. The OM10 sounded good until I listened to the OM20. Everything sounds clearer and more distinct. I do get the sense it picks up more noise/rumble on the lead in/out but it is a price that I am happy to pay for the fantastic clarity and warmth it produces. Not cheap in my eyes but I am not regretting the purchase

Upgrade from OM10
Just back into vinyl after a 30 year absence. Bought a Pro-Ject Essential turntable supplied with an Ortofon OM10 which is a fine cartridge in itself. The OM20 is a simple and worthwhile upgrade providing a little more stereo separation, detail and midrange clarity. Bass a little cleaner. OM10 is perhaps better at hiding some of the failings of poor pressings.......I am learning in the new vinyl world that not everything is equal!

Needs running in but good.
Comparison with om5, om10, M2 red, goldring E3 and linn k9. Currently on CJ walker 58 with linn lvx arm.I'd describe this as very accurate and a bit of a shock if you like your warm analogue sound. It initially seemed a little lacking in bass and rather harsh. I tried going up to 2g tracking but it made no difference. Anyway, it seems to have settled down after about 20hrs or so and now i like it or maybe I've just forgotten how good the goldring E3 was. I've changed the settings on my phono amp for more gain. Now I'm thinking it sounds very good with bass yet keeps all the accuracy at the top. Vocals are very real. It's not particularly forgiving of used vinyl but it's easy to swap on the om5 for new second hand purchases.Overall, i can't say if it is better sounding than others, they are all good at this price range but they sound different. It replaced an E3 that I was very happy with but broke while removing the stylus. I read once that some carts can be tiring and i think this may describe the om20. My motivation to return to the om series carts is the ease to swap stylus. It is also very easy to set up on the lvx arm because the needle is visible from above the head shell meaning a protector tool isn't needed.

Geat upgrade from OM 10 Stylus
I have a Pro Ject Debut Carbon that came equipped with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge. Finally took the plunge and upgraded the stylus to the OM 20. What a difference, even to these older ears! Much greater depth and warmth, deep lush bass and great mids providing an excellent overall sound. Well worth the money in my estimation.

Klarowny i spójny dźwięk
WitamPolecam wszystkim niezdecydowanym. Ta igła to strzał w dziesiątkę. Jest czysto, klarownie. Słychać wszystkie instrumenty i jest energetycznie.
