Could these be used in an airbrush?

If you thin them down first then yes.
Either use a thinning agent or if your ground water is clean then you can use tap water.
I would suggest seeing squidmar's video on YouTube about airbrushing basics.

Yes, a rattle can of primer lasts ages, there are loads of YouTube beginners vids out there too

To your question: Yes they work well at dry brushing. So long as you dry it on a dry paper towel to your likened consistency.

All these paints work well for most things, but other than the basic things like just painting normally, thinning the paint a bit, or dry brushing: you will need to add some other ingredients depending on what you're trying to accomplish. 
Adding the paints as a watered down mixture to  some superglue and PVA glue can give you coloured goo of sorts. 
Mixing the paints with some water and dishwashing soap can give you a good alternative to washes. The exact mixing amounts i couldn't tell you. I didn't do it often enough to get super good at it or to even remember a single mixing ratio, before I bought shade paints separately :)

so you can use these on "plastic" model figures? Do you need a primer? I bought a big box of acrylic paints but they wont paint on my plastic figures.

Yes they will absolutely work on plastic, however like most paints they will work much better if the plastic is clean of oils and grease (they often come a little oily from the moulds; just wash in a little water with light detergent, then rinse and dry) AND then you use a primer. Tamiya "Fine Surface" spray can primers are good.
