Crochet Granny Square: The Stitch Bible from Beginners to Advanced with 30+ Projects and Step-by-Step Illustrations

For anyone who likes to make doilies and things like that , this is the book for you! It has lots of helpful things to help you with your crochet skills.

Not much instruction in the book. There are no stitch illustrations or color photos of the patterns described.

This book will show you that while granny squares make nice afghans, there is so much more you can do with them.

I have always loved the look of crocheted granny squares, but I have no one left in my family to teach me how to do them. So, I got myself this book hoping to teach myself, and that is just what this book did. It explains what a granny square is and its history. We then get into how to make the granny squares. This section of the book is easy to follow and understand. I had no problem working alongside the book. There are also some ideas of what you can do with the granny squares. I was surprised that it is much more than the afghans I am familiar with. I enjoyed reading this book.

I’m not an advanced crocheter but I’m not a beginner and this book did not help me at all. It lacked clarity, everything is in black and white, and I was absolutely confused by the content and organization of this book. Patterns aren’t so great either. Don’t waste your money!

I’m not new to crochet, but have never made a granny square, hence, I ordered this book. I’m so disappointed. It is as if it were written in Chinese, and run through a translator app. Highly repetitive, VERY few pictures (one picture was of knitting needles!), all in black and white. I don’t even know why pages 29 to 39 are in the book! Hardly any pictures of completed projects.Trust me, Google, and save yourself some money!

First off, this book is printed on very cheap quality paper, like dollar store coloring book level bad. The description so straight up lied when it said it has step by step instructions. There is ONE black and white photo at the beginning of each project, usually of the finished item or a picture that looks straight up ripped off Google photos. The descriptions of the projects themselves are dense and hard to keep a long with. Very dissatisfied with this book, not beginner friendly and definitely not what was advertised.

This book has a lot of good directions about crocheting granny squares plus some other projects, but there aren’t pictures of most of those projects or squares, so you don’t know what you’re making. Adding pictures would make this a much better book.

No pictures to see what the author is trying to say-not easily helpful for a true beginner

Seriously, the kindest thing I can think to say of this book is that there is a possibility that this is a very poor translation from the original language in which it was written, though that does not explain or excuse the lack of information or photographs. Very few pictures of the “patterns” being described and those that exist are in black and white so only minimally useful. Inconsistent words used to describe well-known terms, such as double crochet (one of the most basic stitches). I could go on and on. For anyone who has crocheted before, there is very little of use here. For beginners, I would say it is of no use at all. I would have attached photos and included direct quotes but the copyright rules at the start say that this cannot be done without permission of the author or publisher. I cannot imagine that such permission would be given and can completely understand why that would be the case.

I have been crocheting for a while and wanted to make something new and colourful. This book offered me endless inspiration to create crochet patchwork projects from Granny Squares. There are lots of colourful, bright and quick patterns to cover sofa cushions, bed cushions or to create blankets and plaids, using squares with flowers or embroidery. The instructions are very easy and the basic stitches and techniques are fully illustrated and explained. I like it very much.

This book is useless ! It had a slim few poorly written crochet directions, pictures of things being knitted not crocheted, no information regarding stitch instructions, and worse yet most of the supposed crochet "patterns" were only the titles of the pattern and zero instructions!Total waste of money!

Interesting crochet manual imprinted on the Granny Square and the many works that can be made using these patterns. A very thorough, step-by-step guide that guides even the most inexperienced to create original and really interesting items. I recommend it
