It's always a gamble buying a third party laptop battery. And because Dell have little interest in supporting their products you almost always have to go third party. On the Dell website I couldn't find a battery for their XPS 13 inch 7390 2-in-1 laptop. Interestingly and infuriatingly, the 7390 does not function properly using an AC adaptor with a dead battery. So a dead battery, and this happened very suddenly, can manifest itself as other problems, including finally complete death. This particular battery is one of the lowest prices I've found amongst third party providers, but it is by no means cheap. It's a lot to pay if it's a dud. Fortunately, it doesn't appear to be a dud. It's early days, but it seems to perform about as well as the original Dell battery (i.e. not that great, but we can live with it!). As the two photos show, the battery looks and has specifications very similar to the original. It's not easy to open the case of the 7390, but if you use appropriate tools (we used guitar picks) and are patient you can open it. When we first fitted we couldn't get a couple of screws in. So we left those out. We also didn't tighten the battery terminal enough, and that later failed with the blue screen of death, and also overtightened the case, which resulted in a click-less trackpad. But on opening it up again (which is much easier the second time), and properly tightening the terminal, we found that we could move the battery just enough to get those remaining screws in, at a bit of an angle, but solid enough. And we also tightened the case only moderately and got our trackpad click back. So everything appears to be hunky dory now. Also we somehow got the laptop into maintenance or service mode, which results in the fan always being on and very loud. After trying various fixes, it took us a while to realise you can disable this by pressing alt-F at bootup. You need to buy some tools to get into the laptop, a T5 Torx and a small Phillips head. These are not provided with this battery.

Mal davon abgesehen, dass die Versanddauer, trotz Versand durch Amazon, deutlich länger als angegeben ausfiel, war der Akku gleich bei Ankunft schon defekt. Wie man an den Fotos erkennen kann, sind die linken beiden Zellen aufgebläht. Das kann ich wenig gebrauchen, denn einen aufgeblähten Akku habe ich bereits. Diese Akkus jedenfalls, scheinen ziemlich überlagert zu sein.
