ION Audio Tape 2 Go | Portable Analogue to Digital MP3 Cassette Converter/Player for Mac or PC with Conversion Software Included

I had kept 4 cassette tapes in my music collection for what seemed like forever - all were issued between 1979-1982 and none of them have been on CD. Thanks to this great little gadget I now have them burned onto CD-R!I'm shocked at all the negative reviews this product is getting. There must be a heck of a lot of impatient people out there that cannot follow a few simple instructions. I found it very, very easy to use.YOU DO NOT HAVE TO UPLOAD THE SOFTWARE DISC THAT IS INSIDE THE BOX AND COMES WITH THIS PRODUCT.YOU DO NOT HAVE TO UPLOAD THE RECORDINGS TO ITUNES!. Whatever that is?? I didn't. There is a leaflet inside the box that recommends you going onto the main ION website and downloading the latest software for this product - it's right there on their main webpage!It couldn't be any more simpler.After taping, the recordings are uploaded straight onto your PC.. they are saved in the WAV format.. and then can be downloaded straight away onto a CD-R. NOTHING TO DO WITH ITUNES WHATSOEVER!I'm very happy. I got a nice sound from the recordings. THE MUSIC DOES NOT FADE IN AND OUT like some reviews state nor does THE SOUND PLAYBACK AT A DIFFERENT SPEED like some reviews state. It's Poppycock!Cassette tapes now in the bin!!

I bought this over a year ago just before moving house to convert my old cassette collection (I have a lot!). On first try it was fantastic, the recording sounded great and it was nice to hear the old tapes through my computer, but then I noticed halfway through playing back that there was a growing buzzing sound masking my recording that got louder as it went on. I tried other tapes but the same problem was there, and the recordings were completely impossible to listen to.The next day I tried again, and again, same problem. Nice clean sound for about a minute, but then an annoying buzzing sound cutting in. At this point I planned on getting a refund but in the mix of packing and arranging the house move I completely forgot, until now, a year later when I finally got round to opening some leftover boxes and found the Tape 2 Go again and decided to give it another try.So I decided to try it again, and lo and behold, had the same annoying issue. At first I thought it might be to do with my computer or the recording software I use, but I realised when unplugging it and using batteries/headphones to play the cassettes that the same thing was happening. I'm annoyed with myself because I left it so long and forgot to get a refund, and even more annoyed that it's clearly an issue with the product and not my computer or tapes, and this has happened since the day I bought it.

The ION unit is simple to set up, supplied with instructions, USB cable and software. The software can be easily updated by visiting the manufacturer website. The latest software allows a little adjustment on levels. The unit functions reasonably well as a tape player (don't expect a top line model at the price) and as a conversion device. it can interface via the supplied software (producing .WAV files) or, (with a bit of effort) via Audacity which allows; removal of hiss, volume adjustment and track labelling etc. plus conversion from .WAV to an MP3 export with the latter providing a much smaller file size. The only downside in common with other conversion devices is the software is not always able to recognise track breaks where for instance, a live album or an album with tracks having pauses in the performance can confuse it into believing there is only one track due to background cheers etc or due to pauses, it thinks there are more tracks than there actually are. You can sort this via Audacity. If you are prepared to be patient this is a reasonable piece of kit at an economical price.

What a great piece of kit! I'm astonished that something so small and inexpensive does such a great (and easy) job. I had a few tapes which my father had, tapes of D-Day dispatches etc which I wanted to listen to and then pass on. Now they are in mp3 format. It really is plug and play though I had to download updated software online, another simple task. As I didn't want to listen to the tapes at the time I muted the laptop whilst the recording was taking place, after making sure that there was sound.

cd didnt work. came up as blank disc. had to download from actual site in order to get the correct software for device. cassette player looks and feels cheaply made. which is a disappointment being a ion product.

I tried to use it to transfer music from cassettes to my laptop. I found I had to have iTunes loaded on the laptop, something not mentioned in the Amazon advert. After duly loading iTunes I found that I could not get playback of any music whatsoever : probably personal finger trouble with iTunes. However, this machine was advertised as being extremely simple to use!

Yup, does the trick. Loaded the software to the Mac and off you go. You have to name the files yourself but hey, you can't have everything and A.I. doesn't come in a package this small. Uses batteries so yet to see how heavy it is on them. Sound quality of a couple of tapes I have converted is very respectable ! Get it. It works.

Hände weg .Die Software bleibt hängen beim abspielen der kassetten. Das Band verfängt sich im abspielgerät bei 2 Kassetten ist mir das Band sogar gerissen. So das ich diese wegwerfen kann.

Ero moderatamente scettico invece mi sono dovuto ricredere. Il prodotto in questione svolge egregiamente il proprio lavoro; non posso dare giudizi sull' utility "suddivisione in tracce" perchè non mi interessa e non l' ho utilizzata.Non ho utilizzato il cd in dotazione ma ho scaricato direttamente dal sito del produttore il software aggiornato che ho installato senza problemi. Nessuna richiesta o obbligo di creare account su itunes.Se proprio vogliamo trovare un neo, il fatto che crei files audio in formato wav, notoriamente più affamati di spazio rispetto agli mp3; ma si può effettuare la conversione con una delle tante app scaricabili gratuitamente dalla rete.Nel complesso sono molto soddisfatto

A very good thing to have as I can retrieve and listen to all the old songs which I have in cassettes. Like it very much and worth the price.....

Estoy muy satisfecho por el producto, que me ha permitido seguir oyendo recuerdos de la infancia muy antiguos en CDs actuales.
