Drumond Park 20th Anniversary Absolute Balderdash

We (a group of students sharing a house) ordered this game based on a friends recommendation and I cannot overstate how much fun we had with it. Games generally last 1-2 hours, and are very much like a game of 'call my bluff', so there is a lot of posturing, nodding carefully as ones own rubbish definition of the word oologist is read out, and general laughing at each other. Some of these bogus definitions and games approached legendary status! One great aspect of this game is that it works with a wide age range, and it's certainly one of those infectious board games, people who played it at our student digs soon bought their own copy.I would say it depends how confident the participants are at letting their inhibitions go and being creative. It's a game well worth having when guests come over.We found this is not a game to take too competitively if you really want to get the most out of it (but then you could say that about any board game really!). I would say that it does help for everyone to have a decent grasp of the english language as everyones answers to questions are read out and it quickly becomes obvious who's answers are who's if one person in particular sticks to similar wording and grammar.In general a simple to play, easy to enjoy, well-thought out word game that encourages a great deal of creativity.Happy balderdashing!!

What a great game both for families and grown ups.The more you get in to this and the more you have to drink the better and funnier the game gets.Its quite amazing what creative thoughts come out whilst playing.There are many cards so duplicate answers isn't a problem.The only thing I would say is the arrow that you need to spin in the middle of the board doesn't fit that well but being married to an engineer he soon bodged that up!

My favourite board game and even though it's been around for a long time its still very much a game that the whole family can get involved in as everybody has to become a liar of gargantuan proportions in order to win the game which causes great laughs along the way.I recommend this game to anybody friends family the office whoever.This will be the fourth time I have bought this board game and look forward to a fun filled Christmas with family and friends.

This is not as good as the original Balderdash, I'm not too keen on the division of words into categories and the whole game has become very complicated to play, with new rules for moving round the board. I think think Drumond Park have tried to modernize the game and as a result I don't find it as interesting or as easy to play as Gameworks Original Balderdash.However, that said, my family did enjoy playing it, we didn't play the 'initials' category as it's far too easy to guess which is the correct answer. I will try to but the Original Balderdash, even if I have to get it second hand.

This game is great to get the creative flows going. I have played the original game for years! Had so many belly laughs. This is the updated version, and this hasn't let us down! We are highly delighted with this! highly recommend to people having a group of friends together!

Really disappointed with the quality of this product. It stated 'very good' as the condition but I would rate it as poor. The box had marks and scratching's all over it and the corners have worn away. Some of the packs of cards inside were also opened. The board itself as marks where the coating has come away and you can see the cardboard again. Looks cheap and very obviously second hand.

We loved playing the original Balderdash, with great scope for being creative with word definitions. The words on the cards were very clever and obscure. I'll always remember that one of the words meant 'going out in the middle of the night to pick cabbages'.This version was ridiculously complicated for no gain, with a fiddly board with a spinner (why?), random categories, complicated scoring cards. We were disappointed, and will try to get hold of the original Balderdash from somewhere if we can.

We've been playing Balderdash since it first came out and just love it. We never get bored of playing it, both children and adults alike. If there's one game that every household should have, then this is the one. Endless answers from players of all ages. We play the version where the reader of the true answer also submits a false answer to add to the excitement and try and gain additional points. Buy it....you definitely will not be disappointed.
