My chair arrived 4 days early, so early in the morning it took me unawares. If you read other comments, you will see the seat is quite firm and so it is but I guess it will 'wear in' in time. Problem for me was in attaching the legs to the chair and footstool - I am 70 and I couldn't find the strength to screw the legs in and had to wait for my son to do it for me (it appeared to take all his strength to do this)> No other comments about this problem, so it must be that we have weak wrists? The covering of the chair I absolutely love - grey check. I made arm covers in a similar material to match the fabric of the chair and must say that both I and my cat are pretty comfortable with how things are. I am very happy with my purchase.

Love it. True to say, as mentioned by others that it is quite firm, but it does support the back, and looks fabulous.
