Solomon Grundy Gold Merlot 30 Bottle Home Brew Wine Kit

First time doing homebrew and this kit turned out brilliantly! Really nice wine in ten days. Absolute bargain too. I used tap water and granulated sugar with it. Really easy to follow instructions. I'll be ordering again soon.

I started making my own wine a few months ago and have made several batches all of very good quality. The Chardonnay is excellent and needs 3kg of white sugar, more sugar of up to 3.5 ounces needs to be added to sweeten the wine to individual taste. I add 1 ounce to the 30 bottle kit, because I prefer a dry wine.I gave the Chardonnay 5* the Merlot 4*. The instructions for the Merlot say to ferment 4kg of sugar and then add more sugar to taste before bottling. I did not add any more sugar it was too sweet to begin with.I will make the Merlot again but will use 3.5 Kg sugar next time. The golden rule with wine kits is that you can always add sugar if it is too dry, but you cannot remove it if it is too sweet!Apart from this caveat, they are amazing value for money, I hopefully will submit another more favourable review in the next few weeks!

This kit is very easy to use and value for money, buying this and the sugar has resulted in 27 bottles of easy to drink wine at £1 a bottle, ill be buying another to stock up on the next batch

This wine is absolutely lovely. We left it a little longer before bottling it and it didnt seem to be as sweet. I would highly recommend.
