Awesome!
This was our first RPG. Three adults played with three kids (age 10/8/4). It took a bit to understand the instruction guide, but gameplay was smooth! We loved it!Note: this is a one time game. After you know what happens, the game can’t easily be repeated.

Good introduction to role-playing for parents/guardians and kids
This is a fun, introductory role-playing game that is best played with an adult serving as the game master and the kids playing the adventurer.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)The components are high quality, cute, and colorful. The game is for 2-5 players (one of whom is the game master), ages 8+, and the game will probably last one to four hours, potentially in more than one session. My Junior Role-playing Game is published by Asmodee Group. The game comes with a double sided playing board (one side is the outdoors, and the other is the castle), 40 cards (including characters, items, resources, and the details of the indoor rooms), and a 44 page rulebook that contains a lot of advice and hints for the game master. The adventure plays out in three parts. The first night, the players begin exploring the castle. They spot a light inside, and the castle is rumored to be haunted. If the players are not careful, their characters could end up with statuses like "tired" the next day, which could effect their chance at some action checks. (More on those below.) The next day, the characters participate in outdoor activities that might help solve the mystery. Finally, the characters explore the rest of the castle, and, if they were paying attention, might break the curse of the castle.Role-playing games can vary significantly in the amount of "free play" versus mechanics driven. If you ever played one of the "pick a path" books those were almost entirely mechanics based while a table-top session amongst friends could run the gamut from totally free play to mechanics heavy. This game is more on the mechanics based side. The player will get to choose where their characters go, but the events in the room will be determined by their actions. The characters have four abilities: moving (like jumping, running), finding (discovering useful times and puzzle solving), hitting (hitting or the use of strength), and talking (convincing someone). Each character is rated as -1, 0, +1 in their abilities. Some characters also have skills that could add a +1 to a given ability for action checks.Characters attempt to perform actions, and the difficulties of those range from 2-6. The player rolls a regular D6 (six sided die) and adds any skill modifiers they have. A player with a +1 in talk could never fail a talk check set at 2, but even a character with a +1 in finding with a magnifying glass for an additional +1 would still have a 50/50 chance of making a difficulty six (must roll 4 or above on the die). All in all, this is a fun adventure that would be a great introduction to role-playing.A couple of caveats, ... there is an actual ghost in the castle. Some parents might not be ok with that. Also, there is no replay value. Once the players solve this mystery, that is it.

Missing parts
It didn’t come with dice needed for play and one of the characters cards was missing.
