Leuchtturm1917 Medium A5 Ruled Hardcover Notebook (Lime) - 249 Numbered Pages

The Leuchtturm1917 is a perfect book for journaling regularly. I use mine as a Bullet Journal. The dotted pages (which do NOT look like the preview -- the dots are very light and create 36 boxes by 28 boxes, I believe, and 5mm boxes) are perfect for keeping text within a line and organizing a layout without restricting you at all when drawing doodles or cartoons. From a distance the dots are almost invisible, which is great for giving your pages a picturesque look. The pages are a very good quality, surpassed in my experience only by Rhodia. I've given pen tests on everything I use on the back pages, and not even my Pilot Parallel bleeds normally. However, you can't double pass fountain pens (my Pilot Parallel or Metro) while the ink is still wet; if you need to fill gaps wait until your first pass is dry and the ink won't bleed. The pages haven't caused any feathering on my fountain pens, which is a huge step up from my Studio Oh notebook which let the wet ink run all over the place. You can get very crisp lines. I will say that darker/thicker inks, while not bleeding, will ghost a little to the back side. This means if a back is blank, you can see some of the writing on the other side. However in my experience this hasn't impeded legibility on that back side after I started writing. Personally I like the effect, because it makes my book feel "full" on my used pages, even if I didn't write a lot on one side. The extra features are very nice. This book comes with two bookmarks (the small ribbons) which are very useful in a Bullet Journal setup. (For instance, I bookmark my current day and my "inbox", and also use washi tape thickened page edges to "bookmark" my monthly spread.) Every page is numbered, a very helpful feature when you want to index everything, but even without that it's useful to just write "see page 47" by a note on page 22 where you then expand the note, without losing your web of writing or flow. Speaking of indexing, the journal starts with three pages set up as an index. When you open the book there's a place for your name, a blank page that would be uncomfortable to write on fully due to the binding, then a sheet with index front and back and then a third page for the continued index. The back of that last page is blank, and the next page is where the dots begin, numbered as page 1. There is also a back flap, of course, which is where I store a mini straightedge to make crisp lines on the go. The back few pages are perforated which I doubt I'll rip out, but the option is there and the perforation is barely noticeable. The band is tighter than my old Moleskine ever was, and the hard cover feels much more durable (though I do sometimes miss the leatherette soft cover feel and flexibility). Overall I've really loved this notebook. It's a great quality book for a reasonable price. I loved moving to this from my Moleskine and especially leaving behind some of my decorative but lower quality notebooks. I highly recommend this product.

I fell in love with this journal the moment I touched it out of the package. It's absolutely beautiful. I write in a lot of journals, and fill them up in a reasonable amount of time. I've never had a journal 200+ pages, and this is the perfect length. It has the look of a normal hardcover book, which I love. This is a high quality journal worth every single penny. WAY better than a Moleskine will ever be. It comes with stickers to label, which I appreciate so much. I'm a writer, and when I first ordered this the only thing I had in mind to use it for was just a regular journal, but I will defiantly be buying more to write rough draft stories in. Also, this is a great notebook for classes and studying since it has a table of contents in it as well. I was torn between blank and ruled. I've never had a blank journal, but I've written stuff in sketchbooks before. I add drawings in my journals constantly, but I also am pretty crazy and sloppy when it comes to writing without a guide. I bought the ruled and I could not be anymore happier for my choice. The lines are faint enough to draw and not get distracted by them, but not faint enough to where they serve little purpose. Absolutely love this. I want them in all the colors and versions now. And really, if you use Moleskine's please try this notebook so you can stop wasting your money. Thank you Leuchtturm!

I expected it to be a tad bigger than it was but ultimately the size is great, especially for my small hands. It's sturdy, well put together, and absolutely wonderful all around; I had heard great things about Lighthouse Journals, but this really exceeds my expectations. Their products are certainly worth the money. The paper is higher quality than you find in most journals- though it's still your average filmed paper and not a fancy cotton parchment or anything (but if they made any in cotton parchment, oh I would snap those up in a heartbeat). The only thing I don't like is that the ink from my Micron Art Pens doesn't soak all the way into the pages. That's great on one hand because you obviously don't want it to bleed through to the other side. On the other hand, when you draw something and want to color over it with colored pencils later you still have an ink residue that's left behind- which means you get color contamination from the ink quite easily. So it's definitely not a notebook I would really recommend using for drawing or much of that sort unless you don't mind the color contamination... But it is great for a Recipe Book or just a regular Journal. I'll definitely be buying another one as soon as I get through this one.

I started using Moleskine notebooks in 2002, and for over a decade I used one on a daily basis – for journaling, writing, and even taking notes in class. I was never drawn to them for their hipster cache; I just prefer plain-covered notebooks that are durable and have decent quality paper, and those became my trusted standby. Unfortunately, Moleskine's quality has dropped considerably in recent years, and like many longtime users, I've had to wander in the wilderness in search of something to take their place. After a lot of trial and error, I've concluded that Leuchtturm is the best notebook in this particular niche. The devil (or divine, as the case may be) is really in the details. Numbering the pages and including a table of contents at the front is absolutely brilliant – whether you choose to organize your notebook with it at the outset, or just want to keep track of where particular information lands while writing in a linear fashion, it's incredibly handy. The two bookmark ribbons are another nice touch, for similar reasons – you really get the sense that someone put thought into maximizing how useful and enjoyable this notebook is for the average customer. I'm also impressed with the paper quality. I've used gel pens, Microns, and even Tombow brush markers, and while there is some ghosting on reverse pages, I have yet to see any actual bleed-through. Additionally, dot print is a nice midway point between lined pages and blank ones; they keep normal pages of writing straight and tidy, but are faint enough that it's easy to ignore them altogether when sketching or working on something like large hand-lettering script. All in all, these are definitely worth the larger price tag.

Let me start by saying I love this notebook. I love the dots, and I use it as my bullet journal. I use the G2 Pilot pens with it and there is some minimal ghosting from page to page but no bleeding. This is quality paper and these notebooks come with so many pages that I find them to be worth the price. I also love the texture of the cover. That being said, I received mine as a gift from a friend who shipped it to me via Amazon Prime and when I got the notebook it had some damage to it from inadequate shipping materials. Since it was a gift and didn't harm the function of the notebook I didn't bother to tell my friend or make them contact Amazon or anything, but if it was something I had purchased for myself I probably would have at least notified Amazon to tell them it was damaged. I'll note that other than the damage it got during shipping it has held up incredibly well.

I received this notebook yesterday, and it is a pleasure--to hold, to touch, to write in. The paper is an elegant ivory color and so smooth and creamy. I used an ink pen (although not a fountain pen) and there is no feathering. Just clean, crisp writing. This notebook is the ruled kind, but the lines were not at all intrusive although still clearly printed. The cover is a nice sky-blue color, and the leatherette material also feels very smooth and nice, but still sturdy. It is the perfect size to put in your pocket or purse and take with you to jot things down wherever you go. The only nitpicky things I can see about this notebook is that the elastic enclosure is a bit loose, but perfectly functional. Also, the notebook doesn't completely lie flat on its own when open, but the binding seems well-made enough that I didn't feel any misgivings bending it back and flattening the book down a bit.

What can I say? I've been a fan of these books for about a year now. I was previously using a softcover Moleskine planner (like this one, Moleskine 18 Month Weekly Planner, Extra Large, Soft Cover (7.5 x 10) ), but then I stumbled on Ryder Carroll's free bullet journaling introduction. I first gave it a try in a Traveler's Notebook Brown Leather (1, 1 LB) and I loved it, but I had to see why the BuJo (bullet journal) community loves Leuchtturm. Things I love: - Paper is nice and thick (especially compared to Moleskine) - Dot grid and blank options - Pre-numbered pages, Table of Contents section for easy organization, and ribbon bookmarks - Many cover color options - Size is small enough to easily carry (or put in a lunch box or a purse), but large enough for detailed notes / pictures I love the dot grid option for taking notes at work (one notebook collected about six months worth of notes), and my daughter loves the blank option for drawing at school during classroom read-alouds. I do wish that these weren't so pricey, but unlike some other notebooks they stand up well to the abuse that I give them. Perfect for everyday carry or frequent used, transport, and reference.

Since I've started using these notebooks, I've always had at least two with me. Leuchtturm notebooks are the highest quality I've found, and their features really lend themselves to my uses. Firstly, their paper quality is top notch. I typically use them with micron pens, and have also used them for watercolor. I've rarely had any problems with bleed or smear. Secondly, the pages are numbered! This is great, because the book also comes with a little index in the front. If you're building out sections or want to find key notes, everything you need is there. Thirdly, they come with a LOT of pages, way more than other notebooks I've used (like moleskine, for example). Finally, their build quality is extremely high. They feel really great in my hands, they're sturdy, and I haven't had any problems with the bindings or covers, even though I rough them up in my bag every day. I can't think of anything poor to say about these great notebooks.

I love everything about these Leuchtturm1917 journals, especially the dot grid pages, but I'd have to say that this one was not my favorite color I've ordered. It looks a bit more greeny/browny than the picture, which looks a bit more grey.

This really is a beautiful notebook. It's slightly larger than a Moleskine but along the same line with a pocket in the back. The illustration shows a pencil but FYI it's not included. It's very nice to write in and the elastic does a good job of keeping it closed when you're not using it.

Item arrived within the estimated timeline. It was shipped in a strong box and no damages. The journal itself is exactly what I was looking for. It was recommended by several blogs for bullet journaling. The dots are perfect as it gives some structure when you want it but are faint enough that you can easily ignore them if you want to. Would purchase this item again and would do business with this seller again.

Per chi ha la passione del Bullet Journal è perfetto! La versione puntinata è sempre stata la mia preferita. La consiglio perchè: 1. Dona un senso di libertà di scrittura/disegno in più rispetto alle righe o i quadretti; 2. Non lascia troppo spaesati rispetto a un foglio completamente bianco. Il rapporto tra grandezza, prezzo, copertina rigida e numero delle pagine (249...che non è uguale per tutti i Leuchtturm, leggete sempre la descrizione) è ottimo. La copertina rigida è abbastanza resistente. Lo porto sempre con me da ormai due mesi nella borsa/zaino e non ha alcun segno di usura. Con l'uso di penne bic l'inchiostro non si "trasferisce" dietro i fogli mentre altri pennini, tipo le Stabilo point 88 o pennarelli in genere, lasciano il segno. La copertina bianca si sporca facilmente ma basta pulirla ogni tanto, anche solo con una salvietta umida, per mantenerla sempre perfetta. Ovviamente se la macchiate con indelebili o prodotti aggressivi dovreste optare o alla pulizia con detergenti sgrassatori o all'applicazione di uno sticker (ma questo vale un pò per tutti i colori...). Alla fine del taccuino c'è l'immancabile tasca dove poter inserire biglietti da visita o piccoli fogli.

Vorab erst einmal kurz: Wer zeichnen will, der greift doch bitte zu einem Skizzenbuch mit einer Papierstärke deutlich über 100g/m². Gibt es von Leuchtturm selbst auch oder an vielen anderen Stellen. (Wie wäre es zum Beispiel mit einem Kunstfachgeschäft?) Ich habe mich für die Farbe Taupe entschieden und bin damit sehr zufrieden. Das gute Buch wird bei mir, wie bei vielen anderen auch, in Dotted als Bullet Journal benutzt. Ja, die Seiten sind dünn. Ja, es gibt Ghosting (meint, die Schrift scheint auf die andere Seite durch), aber es gibt eben keinen Durchschlag. Getestet bislang mit Stabilo 88, mit Lamy Tinte Türkis und Lila, Pelikan Tinte Dunkelgrün. Desto heller die Farben bei den Stabilos werden, desto weniger Ghosting, was eigentlich selbstverständlich ist. Mir hat es das Papier sehr angetan. Kein Ausfedern der Tinte! Das hat mich persönlich sehr glücklich gemacht. Prima ist für BuJo natürlich das vorhandene Inhaltsverzeichnis, die Seitennummerierung, die man nicht selbst anbringen muss und das Täschchen hinten ist zwar auch schon bei so vielen Standard, aber es ist trotzdem wundervoll. Besonders glücklich bin ich über die zwei "Lesezeichen". Eines liegt bei mir auf dem Tracker des laufenden Monats, das andere dort, wo der heutige Tag sich befindet. Meine Freundin konnte ich überzeugen. Sie möchte, wenn ihr jetziges BuJo voll ist, auch ein Leuchtturm 1917. Wir werden dann wohl nur direkt beim Händler bestellen, da hier viele Farben sehr oft vergriffen sind. Da Leuchtturm neben der Konkurrenz mit M am Anfang fast die Einzigen sind, die Punktkariert führen und einem nicht die letzten Scheine aus dem Geldbeutel ziehen, werde ich wohl noch mehr Bücher mir von ihnen anschaffen, wenn ich meine anderen Sammelbücher vollgeschrieben habe. So ein Regenbogen aus Leuchtturm sieht im Schrank bestimmt hübsch aus.
