Hi. We do have both the options. With and without holder. It’s recommended to cool the iron before putting it in the holder.

are covers machine washable?

I haven't used this product yet; but we did wash the cover after receiving it. We haven't put it back on the board, so I can't guarantee it hasn't shrunk any. Personally, if it has, I'll put something else over the board; I like products I buy to be cleaned before using.
