Not for large windows really on its own
This has rounded edges so used within a recess it lets a little light in at the corners. Used outside of a recess, on our windows, the sill prevents it from laying flat on the recess and I could not get two to overlap as they just kept falling inwards. This being said however when it's right up against the upvc, even with the corner light coming through it is still a lot more effective than blackout blinds (which let light in all down the side edges because they don't sit tight) and if I use this BEHIND the blackout blind then the room is almost completely dark. I was absolutely thrilled with the result in the end when teamed with the existing blind but on a large window, this on its own is not sufficient at all.

Nice idea, poor execution.
The idea of this is good and in theory should work - but they just don't. They are incredibly difficult to put up unless your window is the exact size, so trying to put them up 'outside' the recess means you need to try and bend your arm to attach the sucker to the glass - but most windows have a vertical bar down the middle meaning you need to put it to one side slightly, which means that it doesn't sit over the recess properly and when you try to tighten them up they fall inside, rendering the whole exercise useless. The other issues I had were; One of the suckers did not stick to glass at all - looked fine but it just refused to stick. The toggles don't grip the pull cord - that's a fundamental fail. The caps of the toggles fall off, clearly this is not safe for a childrens bedroom. They aren't flat, so if you did want to stick them close to a window because there's only one central mounting point, they end up not sitting flush so let light in.The pop-up mechanism feels like it's just shaped metal bar with no padding so feels like one wrong twist (and it's fiddly) will rip the material.Positives; They do block light so if you can get them positioned right then it might work.I'm returning as not fit for purpose.

I'll get my moneys worth!
Great idea and really bought them for going on holiday but they have proved very useful in this summer weather with all the light coming in so they are a permanent feature on my little ones nursery window right now. I do take them down every day and once you get the hang of this its quite easy. I don't fold them down every day but just sit them against the wall ready to be placed at bedtime. I like that they will fold up into their own bag for traveling.I've only marked down as one of the toggles doesn't work, minor but I'm going to have to replace it. Also our window has quite a deep recess so I think a longer cord (with working toggle) would make them work even better. I wouldn't say our windows are large but they are too large to use one so I've had to use both which makes them sit outside the recess on the wall section, not to much issues just need to place them right to stop seeping light. I think this is something I will get years of use out of and would recommend them to others and I would buy again. Thought the curtain type ones just looked like a massive faff.

Good Idea. Had Problems Though. May Have Had Faulty One.
I was very disappointed with this item. Whilst a great idea and I could see how it could work but after folding one screen once, as directed, it was warped and wouldn't lay flat so couldn't use a second time. Also, the curved edges meant light could still get through if the 2 screens didn't overlap enough. I think if you wanted them to put up and leave up (not foldaway) they would be ok but if using them multiple times not recommended. It us possible I had a faulty one - who knows. I sent back.

So useful; larger than expected; very pleased
As a shift worker and migraine sufferer, I was looking for a product to provide a super-quick, temporary fix for my southern-exposure bedroom window. The tiny gaps in our venetian blinds still allows bright, hot sunlight through. These pop-up blinds arrived quickly and I was pleasantly surprised by their size. One set of two is enough to cover just over half my double French doors, which has been so useful in my study where recent sunshine has made using the screen a challenge. Intuitive and easy to put up, it takes literally seconds to pop them into place. They also come in a zipper bag that can be hung up when they're not in use. These shades would be absolutely fantastic for anybody who needs to create a dark space, fast - and are very portable and travel-friendly.When you use them the first few times, expect a subtle 'plasticky' smell, especially as the sun heats them - this goes off after a few uses.

Quick to remove and attach, brilliant at keeping light out but not perfect
We needed blackout blinds for our little daughters bedroom but the shape of the window is very awkward. We thought we would give this a go and you can't argue with how well these keep out the light. Some slight flaws such as the fact that the hole for the pull cord (for the suction cup) is in the middle of the blind so you get a pin prick of light through. Also, the frame was slightly warped which means I had to pull the cord especially tight to have a snug fit around the window to keep all the light out, but to be fair, we may just be unlucky. Also have not had occasion to fold this up and take it on our travels so can't vouch for that, but the blinds seem sturdy so no reason to suspect it will be a problem.

Not for me but would be good for some
For me these were too ungainly for a small room with large windows. They're not good for placing inside a window as the curved edges let light through (although I understand the curved edges are necessary for them to fold into a circle). These seem suited for placing on the outside of smaller windows. And once you watch the video clip on youtube they're easy to install and fold (but good luck figuring it out without watching the vid, it's a real fiddle). Don't know how good the suction and straightness would be installing and folding them daily would be though.I tried them and not for me. Returned them and got a refund without any problems.
