Absolute Best Beginner Drone
Full disclosure; I attempted to cancel the order for this drone when the confirmed delivery did not meet my needs. I was frustrated initially when the cancel request was denied because it had already shipped and planned to return it upon receipt. I'm so glad curiosity got the better of me. Without consideration of the incredibly low price, this drone is feature rich with a technology package seldom found on drones of any price range. Many drones across all price ranges market technology that isn't actually built into the product...in other words, there is much misrepresentation of technology and features in a multitude of drones on the market. Sooo much garbage out there. The marketing/advertising of this S96 is truthful and accurate. The functionality of this drone is literally remarkable and amazing. Obstacle avoidance system works flawlessly, as does the trajectory flight and hover features. The drone is well designed and built with solid, quality materials and construction. Indoors or out, drone performs incredibly well from every perspective. It is fast, responsive, stable and handles very well. I'm a skeptic by nature and have exacting standards... almost gave up on my search for a budget 'introductory' drone because of how much false advertising and garbage products out there in the entry level drone market. Whether you're a beginner or if droning is old hat to you, I advise purchasing this drone. At this low price, the sheer appreciation of the well executed advanced features will provide lasting value. Great product at an unbelievable price.

It's a good $30 drone for beginners.
It's easy to fly. Eah battery lasts about 10 minutes of flight time, and recharges in 10-15 minutes. Controller needs to be calibrated to the drone before each flight, or more specifically - after each battery change or turning the drone power on. This is done by simultaneously bringing both joysticks down to 6 o'clock and then rotating each , opposite of each other, in an outward circle up to 12 p'clock, continuing inwardly back down to 6 o'clock. This works for me every time for immediate startup and flight. If you don't do this then it might start, it might not; it might take it sweet time to start spinning props. But when it does, you can count on it going sideways into a wall. Calibrate it first and you'll have no problems. The cameras are good. Better than I'd expect from a $30 drone, but they are not going to be as good as whats on your cell phone. It's fast. It's not powerful. It flies fine in 5-10mph gusts but solid wind or anything above that will have the drone flying backwards.

Obstacle avoidance - FAIL! Soft launch & landing - FAIL! See video
The media could not be loaded. If you're in a hurry, just watch the video.Note that reviews are actually for two different products, S96 and S98. I originally bought the S96 but returned it immediately upon opening because it only came with one battery, even though the item title and detail description indicated two batteries. Easy return and refund, and I am quite happy to see that the listing has already been updated to remove the "two battery" claim.I then bought the S96, which also claims two batteries in the title and description but displayed two batteries in the photo. And it did, indeed, come with two batteries. Groovy. Unfortunately it did not perform as advertised so it is also being returned. If not for an information video I watched (not from the seller) it would impossible to use this product, as the only instructions provided relate to using the smartphone app. No one would ever assume that once you power on the drone and controller that you have to push both joysticks full forward and then pull them both full backward before the thing will work. This is what syncs the controller to the drone and without this step it will just sit on the floor and blink the LEDs on each rotor in sequence. After syncing, the LEDS light a solid color and stop the action that lights one rotor at a time.I verified the unit was in "slow speed" by pressing the speed button, where it cycles through 1-beep, 2-beeps, 3-beeps. It defaults to slow speed and I verified that on power-up it was in 1-beep mode.Launching is easy - press the up/down button, but I was surprised how fast it accelerated on slow speed, over-shooting the hover distance significantly and then slowly lowering itself. Unfortunately it immediately flew into the nearest wall (maybe it's obstacle detection and not obstacle avoidance?) and kept banging against the wall. On my initial flight (video is the 3rd flight) it actually flipped up against the wall, slamming all 4 rotors into the wall and fell to the floor. Good news - no apparent damage.Second flight - same result but at least it stayed mostly horizontal. I was able to move it away from the wall and hit the up/down button to land it. It landed very abruptly and at an angle, causing two of the rotor protectors to hit the floor and become dislodged. No permanent damage, but it should land better than that.Third flight (see video), you can see where it launches very fast, overshoots the hover height, and then drifts right into the wall and stays there. Watch and you can see it tilting up as if it's going to go vertical and slam the 4 rotors into the wall again. It doesn't, so I manually move it away from the wall, rotate it 180°, and then move it towards the wall to see if the obstacle avoidance on the other side of the drone works. Uhhh...NO. And with just the slightest touch on the joystick, the drone moves so quickly you can't correct it in time to avoid hitting the wall, because, obviously, the drone has no clue the wall is there.I shut down the video before landing it, but again it was very abrupt but at least this time only one rotor protector came off. OK, we're done here.

Nice item but get use to it before flying too high
I flew this drone in our house and it worked perfectly. I took it outside and I got it caught in a tree and it crashed to the ground and broke off one of the arms that have the propellers on it. I tried to glue it but the propeller will not turn. Anyway it was a good product but I wrecked it on my 2nd flight. It was my fault but it still makes me mad I did it lol. Still would highly recommend it just remember to turn on obstacle avoidance if I had maybe I would still be flying it.

Brush drones always break sooner or later.
The media could not be loaded. Somewhat annoyed that I never really got to enjoy any substantial flight time with this drone. Here's why. Upon landing on my very first flight the landing stand became damaged. The damage that occurred on the landing stand prevents the brush propeller from working because it holds the bottom spindle to the propeller. This is very hard to fix.So my overall opinion of this product is it is very fragile and very breakable it's benefits do not outweigh it's jankiness! Cool case, neat light on the controller, nice headlights on the drone, and probably cool but it broke before I really got to fly it. I really wanted to try it's obstacle avoidance feature.
