Yes it's a plastic tight material but I find it to be sturdy enough. You don't need to be rough with this in order to install it in the machine

I have been using the DreamStation II for over 3 years. In fact, I have two of these machines. The water chamber of one started to leak water... very disappointing. Philips has had its share of troubles with their CPAP machines, and in a sense, here they go again with a water chamber that (1) MUST be attached to the CPAP machine for the CPAP machine to work, and (2) was designed by someone to eventually break (The clips on the water chamber lid are what I worried about). However, I was wrong. It wasn't the clipping system that failed, but the waterproofing integrity. However, this water chamber is a perfect replacement. I give it five stars because of that.
