Q ACOUSTICS Q7000i 5.0 Home Cinema Speaker Package (White)

I've had my Q Acoustics 7000i Series 5.1 speaker package since since 2014. I'd forgotten I'd purchased this through the Amazon marketplace, or I would have sooner written a review. Back in 2014 I was in search of a new sound system to upgrade from the basic HTIAB (Home Theatre in a Box) that I bought some years before from Argos. After searching extensively for weeks on end to find a package that were; A) Good quality sound, B) Affordable, and C) Aesthetic, small, but powerful, I finally settled on this system. The critical reviews which influenced me the most were from 'AVForums' (9/10 with a 'Best Buy' award), 'Trusted Reviews' (10/10), and 'What-Hi-Fi?' (5/5 with Best Compact Speaker Package under £1000 in 2014). For one anyone interested in this package, I suggest reading the reviews by these critics as they'll be better than any review I could possibly write. But if my opinion is worth anything at all, then I'd say that the reviews were right and that this is a fantastic speaker package. I didn't want a large speaker package as they take up far too much space in a standard English living room. But do not be put off by the size of these diminutive pill shaped satellite (and centre) speakers. One of the first things I noticed is that they deliver some serious oomph, so much so that you'd honestly think you were listening to far larger speakers than these. The first thing I noticed upon un-boxing them is the weight (they're heavy, particularly relative to their size indicating a solid construction) and the professional finish to the paint (mine is the matt black) on the speaker unit and grill. As I had bought the Onkyo TX-NRN626, I quickly bought an additional pair of 7000i satellites and 7070Si to make it a 7.2 (seven satellites including the centre plus two subwoofers) set-up. Speaking of the 7000i subwoofer, it is a beautifully designed subwoofer which resembles more the shape of a smart briefcase than a traditional sub. While the 7070Si subwoofer has only an 8" driver, it is pretty darn powerful and has superb agility and blends seamlessly with the rest of the speakers. However, please note that the 7070Si sub has since been discontinued and is generally paired with the new 7060S subwoofer, which is different to one displayed in the image on this product page, so the physical size dimensions may differ. The one displayed on this page is the older 7070Si (which I own). The replacement 7060S is virtually the same in appearance (though I've been led to believe that it is slighter slimmer than the 7070Si) and as far as I know is virtually, if not exactly, the same components and specs on the inside as its predecessor. So besides a slighter alteration in appearance and size, for all intents and purposes it is the same subwoofer. The overall sound of this package is a smooth and balanced delivery - neither too bright or too soft - and an open and spacious delivery. As I previously stated, you will think the sound is coming from far larger speakers. I primarily use this system for films/TV dramas and computer games, for which it really enhances the listening experience. Musically, it sounds great too, particularly as the subwoofer is very swift and has minimal to zero noticeable overhang.

Easy to set up - although the sub took a bit of adjusting to get it to 'kick-in' - and great to listen to. Make sure to invest decent speaker cables as those supplied in this 'special offer'were average at best. These are so good I bought 2 more to complete a 7.1 system.

I have just got these to replace a set of Wharfedale DX1-HCPs. Out of the box they sound superb. The sound is much richer with loads more detail. I can now here sounds in the background I have not heard before. Dialogue is also very clear & easy to hear at even at low volumes. It is very handy that the stands can be twisted round to become a wall mount. The way the wall mounts work means if your holes in the wall are not quiet level it don't matter. I can't wait to hear what they sound like after a few weeks of running them in.

You can't go wrong with these speakers, sound quality is superb and these are very stylish speakers looking as well. The sub woofer has a beautiful sound and is very powerful. I got these with the stands which are very stylish also.
