Antiference A281LRPROLTE 8 Way Aerial Booster - Grey

I used to have one of these amplifiers some years ago at a different house. So when I decided to upgrade my current installation I chose the same device. The previous amplifier ran for many years without problem. I am glad to say the quality and performance has been maintained. It provides 12V line power to drive a mashead amplifier, and plenty of gain to drive the 8 outlets, one of which is a high level which can be used to feed a splitter (so you can get more than 8 feeds). Built for indoor use so must not be exposed to the weather. Because the mains lead does not include an earth wire it is possible to get a slight AC voltage on the output which you may sometimes feel as a mild tingle (this is not a fault but due to slight capacitive leakage in the in-built power supply) - I recommend connecting a mains earth to the metal-side of one of output sockets with a crocodile clip.Works very well without fuss. Recommended.

Before ordering this distribution amplifier I found it a little difficult to know just what I was getting. Antiference produce a wide range of similar items, each with a slightly different reference number, but all looking very similar. This model has all the options, namely:- VHF input for FM or DAB, UHF input for terrestrial TV (with 12v dc feed for masthead amplifier on this input if required, both inputs have gain controls to set input sensitivity, 8 outputs to feed to receivers, 1 output at full level to feed an extra divider if more outputs are required. It is mains powered with fitted mains lead and plug. The whole unit has provision for fixing with four screws. I found it very easy to install and it works perfectly for me. I do not have any need for feeding Sky signals nor remote control signals through this unit so I can't comment about its ability to handle them.
