Is this ammonia-free? Also, does it work well on dark brown hair, please?

It’s not ammonia free as it’s a bleach but it works on dark brown hair . I have dark brown hair and it always works great on my hair . It has a very high lift.

Do you need to apply this to clean washed hair? Also what is the best conditioner to use to hydrate hair afterwards?

No, not necessarily. If you had greasy hair I’d be inclined to suggest it be clean but otherwise not. I’ve not found that it dries my hair out too much so I just use my normal (Pantene) conditioner.

What’s the best toner to go after this please? Putting on top of light brown hair that has half outgrown highlights

I use the John Frieda Violet Crush for Blondes purple shampoo to get rid of the brassiness. I have black hair with bleached highlights and using this shampoo has worked well for me. Hope this answers your question ☺️
