Why pay anymore?
I purchased one of these a few weeks ago to connect my Playstation 3 to my Yamaha Soundbar. Since then I've had to purchase an addition two. This time I needed one for to connect my Optical Switcher (has I'd ran out of free optical sockets on my Soundbar) to my Soundbar, and I needed the other for to connect my Apple TV to my Optical Switcher.First off, make sure when you are connecting these leads (or any Optical leads for that matter) that you give them a firm push until you hear them click into place, if you don't hear the click, then there not connected properly, so push until you hear the click! After reading the reviews on this lead and after been EXTREMELY satisfied with the same lead I'd got a few weeks previously, I had no hesitation in going back to HDCentral for another two.For £5.45 for a 2 metre optical cable built to this quality, I found this an excellent price. The cable is of good thickness and the end parts of the lead, I was surprised to see that they are metal, a lot are only plastic, so with HDCentral's Optical Cable, it should last a while even if it get unplugged/plugged in a lot.Don't believe all the hype of the stupidly priced Optical Cables for £50 and above that claim all sorts, and quote all the fancy materials used in manufacture and in doing so try to make you believe the quality will be different. Optical Cables either work or they don't work, has long as the light travels through it, it will work and sound the same as any expensive cable. Granted older analog leads such as such as Scart leads for example can differ in quality due to materials etc used in manufacture, but its not the case with Optical Leads. To sum it up with my Pro's and Con's:Pro's:Very good price.Excellent value for money.Superb build quality and materials used in manufacture.Excellent speedy service from HDCentral.Con's:Well there is none : )If you are the kind of person who thinks spending £50 plus on an Optical Lead will give you better quality, then you are kidding yourself, do yourselves a favor and have an extra £45 or so in your pocket and get this lead XO Digital Optical Cable 2m / 2 Metre Premium Install Series - suitable for PS3, Sky, Sky HD, LCD, LED, Plasma, Blu-ray, Home Cinema Systems, AV Amps .

A Must Have For Those Who Have a Home Cinema System or a Playstation 3
I have a home cinema system and recently purchased a Playstation 3. So, needing an optical lead, I purchased this being offered at a great price. Some shops are asking for high prices, and to be honest, there is no need to pay a lot of money for these leads, and this goes for HDMI Leads as well. I have seen some HDMI leads being offered at prices exceeding £50 and optical leads being offered at more than £20. Of course, quality does count, but, experience has taught me there is no need to be ripped off, so it does pay to shop around.I found this lead very good, being consistent and has not caused me any problems. The sound from Playstation 3, using a DTS system is very good indeed, and does enhance the viewing and sound. And of course, makes the playing of games much more enjoyable.

OK.. Definitely.
Fine in every way, except that neither end (TV to soundbar) seems to seat positively - it doesn't snap in, nor is it a good friction grip. This is the first time I've used an optical cable, so it may be my fault, but I've tried pretty hard (and yes, I have removed the little plastic protective caps from both ends....) and in various ways.Whilst in place, it works fine, and is OK as long as nothing is touched, but I'm contemplating using good ol' Blu-Tack as a bodge to stop it falling out whenever the kit is moved slightly.Later addition: the main problem was in connecting to the sound bar, and it got worse, until eventually I took the bar back to the supplier. It turned that the bar's socket was faulty, and once that was fixed, the cable locked in fine. Given confidence by that, I used more force at the TV end and that locked OK, too. So, no problems with this cable, it's fine and now does a great job for the price.

Quality is cheap in certain stuff
Cabling for all technology either works or it doesn't, there is no enhancement in performance from top end (expensive) cables over the cheaper cable available elsewhere. The major stores try to persuade you that having bought very expensive audio/video equipment only the best/expensive cables will do it justice and if you buy cheap you wont get what you are paying for in terms of sound or picture quality. That is absolute rubbish, digital signalling relies on one's and zero's if the cable is poor quality then no signal gets through so you exchange it because its faulty, if it carries the signal then everything is as it should be and there is no need to spend 3-4 times more on stuff that makes no difference. These cables rely on a core of fibre optic strands, exactly the same as the more expensive brands available from elsewhere, in tests experts couldn't find any difference between these and cable costing 8 times more. so save your money and buy what works.

Performs The Same As Expensive Alternatives.
I wanted an optical cable that i could use with my PS4 and surround sound. Ive seen these types of cables advertised elsewhere for twice the price, but you really shouldn't waste your money buying a more expensive version. These types of digital optical cables almost always do the same job! If you take this cable and compared it to the ones that are 2/3 times the price, i doubt anyone could tell the difference. I highly recommend this for those that want it for gaming. I really hope this helps someone making their choice!I will attach a pic!

Digital Optical Cable 2metre
Researched Digital Optical Cables (DOC) and found that one could pay a lot of money for these. Quite a few reviews stated that you did not need gold plated connections for TV to Soundbar. Looked in certain high street electrical stores and was quite surprised at their prices. Looked at Amazon and the price of £5.44 was very attractive. Ordered and it arrived very quickly. Having never handled a DOC before I was surprised not to notice the shaped ends. Connecting to the soundbar was not easy as it would not fit in and there was not much room to see which way it should plug into the female socket. A torch and a magnifying glass helped and finally all fitted. Switched on and everything worked perfectly. A good buy and well worth the price.
