ZUGU Case for iPad Pro 12.9 inch 1st/2nd Generation 2015/2017 [Black]

I got this for my girlfriend's 12.9" Ipad. She had a fancy designer case which looked great, it had the little felt grooves to rest the Ipad in at different angles. Only problem... with the slightest movement or bump it would fall down flat. Well consider THAT problem solved. These magnets are solid. Like really really solid. The 10 different angles are awesome, and even on the lowest setting where the case is close to horizontal (the indents furthest back) it doesn't move. Wherever you put it, it stays. Will the case stick to a fridge and stay with the Ipad in it? Yep. It does ours, though I can't really see why you'd want to do this. I had to move 42 billion magnets to make the room to try it, but it definitely worked. So if you're the type of person that wants to stick your Ipad up on something metal, you're set. I opened and closed the door several times and it didn't move or try to fall down. Quality of materials is excellent. I kinda rolled my eyes reading the description about the "Mercedes Benz like materials" being used, but I stand corrected. The "leather" looks and feels excellent. Really nicely wrapped, too. No loose ends or stitching. But it's the feel that really impressed me. So I guess I shouldn't have rolled my eyes. haha Fit is excellent, my girlfriend's Ipad is the first generation 12.9 so the camera and microphone are a little differently placed than the 2nd generation, and this new case has the holes cut out to fit both. You can clearly see the camera cutout has a little notch to accomodate either generation, so no worries there about will it fit mine, or which generation do I have? And, naturally, if you have a 1st gen and someday move to the 2nd gen or later your case is still good to go. It's also very thin. Putting this case on her Ipad barely feels like it makes it thicker, whereas her (admittedly) prettier designer case was noticeably more bulky and thick than this. She loves that part. It's seriously thin, yet the corner and eges have a nice bumper so it feels like this case will actually have as much protection in a drop as the previous one. Nicely done, there. She doesn't have an Ipencil or whatever those things are called, but she does use a stylus with a fat rubber tip and it fits great in the little pouch on the back. She also really likes that part, her other case had a little stretchy fabric loop you slid it into and this design is much more secure and just looks better. So yeah... simply put, she LOVES this case. I'm very happy with it, too. So much so that I have ordered another one for my mom and her 9.7" Ipad. They're not cheap, but after seeing it, feeling it, and more importantly using it I will gladly say they are worth the money. This is a case where you WILL get what you pay for. Now... negatives? Really only one I can think of, and this is not a knock on the product itself per se, just more a caution. Because this case rests your screen backwards towards the magnets unlike most cases where you lean the bottom of your screen forward (towards you) and rest it in grooves, the part of the case that touches your screen when closed is what rests on your surface. So if you were using this outside at a picnic table or something, you'd want to make sure you wiped it off of any small pebbles or dirt before you closed it back onto your screen. Or better yet, just lay a small towel or whatever down first. My girlfriend really likes that the case leans backwards and does not have anything protruding forwards, makes it easier to use and position on her lap. But with that design comes this one rather small issue to make sure you're aware of on the few and far between occasions where you're setting this down on something dirty. But that's about it for negatives, and this is such a minor issue as even with a traditional case most people wouldn't just set it down on pebbles or dirt. So 5 stars for sure, I'm always cautious of products that are hyped up a lot but in this case, the hype was justified. Since I've now ordered one for my mom's Ipad, I can't think of a better recommendation than buying 2.

I’ve had this cover for about 8 months or so, and I still loooove it. The actual feel of the cover is great all on its own which is a bonus, but what is so impressive is the multi-angle stand function. It utilizes little notches in the cover and magnets from the stand portion, so once you place it at an angle it actually stays there. You can rest your arm against it for instance. That has been invaluable for drawing and also for general use when you just need the thing to stay where you put it. Another huge advantage are the magnets on the back of the stand portion. They are handy and necessary for the stand sure, but my heavens are they glorious for hanging your iPad on the fridge. Cooking is boring to me, so I pull up a recipe and Netflix and slap it on the fridge. Voila. Life. Changing. Also works great on file cabinets. And the icing on this beautiful cake is the little pencil holder on the back. I was POSITIVE I would lose my expensive pencil, or drop it or leave it in my back pocket and sit on it. That little pocket is a godsend. Amazing cover. Update: I’ve had this case for almost 2 years now and it is still beautiful and still the only case I’ll ever use on an iPad. The only sign of wear and tear is the binding from case to screen cover has loosened just a tiny bit. Not even a problem and after 2 years of continual daily use it seems unavoidable. I use my iPad for work and home so it has really gotten the miles in over the past couple of years and honestly you can’t tell from looking at the case.

$70 for a case that isn’t waterproof, shock-proof? No keyboard even? I scrolled right past this case several times, because why would I pay that much when I can get a simple case for $10 or even a beetle defender type case for $25?? It seemed stupid. Magnets? Gimmick. High-quality materials? Everyone says that. 10 viewing angles? I really only need two. This case is clearly made for someone who believes more expensive is automatically better. No thanks. Except. The first time I saw this case and read the description, it did sound cool. Not $70 cool, but ok, the premise was interesting. By its description it solved my two biggest issues (durability and portability). But it was too expensive for a frugal person, so I bought a more reasonably priced case instead. And then when that case was too flimsy to stay upright and hold up my 12.9” iPad, I got a bulkier, reasonably priced case. And then when that was just too big and heavy to conveniently carry around, I went back to the floppy case. Then I remembered why I ditched it and I looked for a slim, rugged case. This one came up again. But $70???? No. So I got a slightly bulkier folio case, and, surprise, it didn’t perform any better. Then I got yet ANOTHER case, on the recommendation of a friend who clearly did not understand my problem very well. Four cases and no cigar, just recurring disappointment...... Then I added up what I paid for all of those cases and I realized that I spent more trying to avoid this case than it actually costs. At this point, I’ve clearly demonstrated that I’m not going to give up my dream of the perfect blend of durability and portability, so what the heck? I bought the stupid thing already. Here’s the deal: you get what you pay for. Yeah, sometimes you’re paying for a name, but ZUGU isn’t exactly Prada. I get no style points when I plop my iPad down on the Starbucks table. In this case, what you’re paying for is quality. They obviously thought through all the problems that iPad cases have and designed this one to resolve them. It’s well-made in general: ports align properly, stitching is even and looks good, no threads or plastic bits sticking out anywhere, all the parts sit where they should sit and look nice in their place. The flexible rubber edges make it easy to put the iPad in but they’re tight enough not to pop off when you don’t want. The magnets are impressive; strong enough to hold a 12.9” iPad Pro on my fridge for an hour but not so powerful that it’s hard to change the viewing angle. Also it turns out that 10 angles is more useful than I thought; typing, drawing, watching movies in a chair, and watching movies in bed apparently all have different ideal angles (who knew?). It is as slim and light as it can possibly be while being very protective. Some people don’t like the pencil holder, but I quite like it. The softer fabric allows me to store my pencil magnet end down, to avoid losing the cap, while the tip is covered in a cheap rubber cover I got that is snug enough to stay put in transit. The pencil slot is slightly recessed, just enough that the pencil doesn’t move around in the fabric pouch. It’s much easier to get the pencil in and out vs a typical elastic holder. Probably the only two things that I don’t like are 1) the fact that the flap which touches my iPad screen while closed also touches the surface the iPad rests on when open. I would prefer that the fabric not make contact with every surface I work on. I do like that it folds backward instead of forward, but I wish there were an easy solution that doesn’t involve setting up a napkin barricade in public spaces. And 2) I don’t like the absence of a keyboard. That’s not a design flaw, it’s just the only problem this case doesn’t solve for me. However, I do have the Arteck Ultra Slim Bluetooth keyboard ($20 on Amazon, can’t say enough good things about it) and thanks to the magnets, the back of the keyboard sticks to the back of this iPad *almost* as if it were made for it. The keys are unprotected, but honestly, as thin and light as this case and the keyboard are combined, I can’t complain. I keep it in a separate compartment of my bag and it’s all good. Basically, what I’m saying is, be smarter than me. Don’t buy a bunch of different cheap cases, settling for one solution at a time. Think about all the things you want your case to do for you, and then buy the one that does most (or all) the things you want it to. Probably that means paying more in the short run, but if you’re reading reviews on this case, there’s a good chance you understand the value of paying good money for good quality. This is one of those times. UPDATE: Just coming back to say I still love the case. I’ve found new ways to love it as time goes on. I’ve had it almost two months, which, with daily use, is generally about how long it takes to show evidence of wear. Not much, but usually a little. This case is solidly-built and the claims of built-in durability are valid IMO. It looks exactly like it did new (aside from the dog hairs it unfortunately does pick up on the soft inside - my only gripe). I almost want to buy a second one right now just in case they stop making these in a year or two, for whatever reason, or in case I lose mine or something. Like, this is my case for life now, guys. This is the one.

Kinda wish i had bought this purple case before it got remodeled because i kinda prefer how case looked when i bought black one 2+ years ago, that one was thiner around ipad making it not as bulky looking, not that this one is too bulky but, since i have a white ipad, the extra black bulkiness around ipad with this current version is making my eyes notice it too much (kinda like when hubby watches wide screen movies, i can't stand them cause my eyes always see the black part above and below movie as part of movie picture). if i had a black or space gray ipad pro, this case would be perfect for it is actually a better case than first one since corners are 3 times thicker and the other areas about twice thicker and there is actually rubber part on bottom of case now which is the same thickness as what was around three sides/corners on older case version (first version did not have ipad protection on bottom when case was open).. Am a little disappointed to see there is still the hair & fur loving fabric on cover, i get why fabric is used but, this felt like fabric is so not friendly for those of us with pets!! Also disappointed that there is no longer the strap on back of case on this current version, it was very useful for holding case cover snug to back of ipad when you had it opened to walk around with it, now cover just flops down and that can get irritating.. Everything else is fine, purple color is nice looking in person and like old case, magnets in case are fantastic as always. These zugu cases really do last a long time, my first one still works like day one with just rubber part on top starting to get a little loose recently but, ipad still stays in case and the only reason i even bought this purple case this week was because my two younger cats decided the mouse on their mouse app was hiding under my ipad when it disappeared and well as tough as this case material is, it is no match for two overly playful young cats trying to find & kill a mouse from under both sides of my ipad with their claws so my black case is not looking so pretty these days because of them..suprisingly however, with all the claw holes they have put on the case, the material has not shredded/ripped because of it, pretty tough material indeed. my hubby is picky about his cases, i upgraded his ipad air (which he had a zugu case on it) to current 12.9 ipad pro for our anniversary and bought him a nice looking blue case and hmm a couple days after getting it, he asked if i would be upset if he returns it for a zugu case

Purchased this for my IPAD Pro 12.9 in. Ordered and received the same day. Item very well packaged. As for the case, I argued with myself as there was another much less expensive and had a protective shield for the front of the IPAD. However, my final choice of the Zugu was based on protection and functionability of the case. First, after unwrapping the package (which was nicely done), I noted there were no instructions as to how to set the IPAD in place. As I am notorious for NOT reading instructions anyway, I played with the case for about a minute and then figured out how to place the IPAD. Placement was simple, easy, and took about 30 seconds. Noted is that the edges of the case protect the edges of the IPAD quite well which will go a long way in protecting from accidental run-ins with objects that could damage the screen or unit. Also noted, openings for the off switches, speakers (2 openings), charging port and USB connector were well protected but large enough for even my large fingers. Finally, I tried the adjustable stand. The description of the unit shows 10 positions that the IPAD can be placed. My initial thought was "this is a bit of overkill". However, after several hours of use, I noted that this so called overkill was actually a blessing as it allowed me to adjust the screen to my viewing angle based on the surface the IPAD was on. The stand is magnetic and holds in place surprisingly well. Finally, as for the cover, when I first used it, it didn't seem to want to completely cover the screen. The problem? Dummy here did not have the IPAD completely in place as one corner stuck out a bit and was not completely seated in place. Once solved, the cover went completely over the screen and magnetically (nice touch!) held in place. The cover itself is NOT made of leather and instead of a material that, as its description states, is Mercedes like material. I take this to mean almost indestructible rubberized something-or-other. The case supposedly will withstand a drop of 5 feet and still protect the IPAD. I DO NOT intend on trying this as if I drop my IPAD my accident I will certainly be trying to catch it before it hits the ground and thus take at least some of the impact away. But just dropping to test it out? NOT in this LIFETIME especially after what I paid for the IPAD and knowing that if I did try it, the hospital bill for my heart stoppage would be quite high. As for the price of the Zugu, once I saw the price as compared to the other unit I looked at, I thought it to be too high for what I needed. But then I thought; what did I want most from a case. I wanted screen protection, protection from accidental bumps or drops, some protection from the weather, and most of all, nothing covering the screen that would impede my screen use. The Zugu has it all and I must admit that it took me about half a day to realize I made the best choice to protect my IPAD Thus if you can afford an IPAD, then spend the extra $$ for a case that will protect your investment. This is a definite 5 star item and a RECOMMENDED BUY.

After purchasing a 2019, 7th gen iPad ZUGUcase for my wife's iPad 7th gen, I found myself really impressed with the overall design and quality of this case so much, that I decided to order/purchase one of these for my 2015/2016 iPad Pro, to replace my Ztotop case which has some problematic design and material issues. The materials of the ZUGUcase seem very tough and very “grippy”. I do not feel like my hands would slip away from the case when holding it, either with one or two hands. I found the proper ZUGUcase on Amazon only selling for $30, instead of the normal $65-$70 price range. It only came in the black color, but the price was right. I really do not like black for some things, but, I have a gold iPad Pro with gold stylus, so the places in the case where the gold iPad color will show should coordinate well with the black iPad case. Being that this is a ZUGU case design from 3 years, ago, there are some design differences/missing design elements in this earlier 2015/2017 iPad Pro case version that I liked in my wife’s 2019, 7th gen iPad case. For starters, the side rails ( in landscape orientation ) of my ZUGUcase are much softer material than the sides of my wife’s ZUGUcase. So, the softer material pulls away from the sides of the iPad much too easily when grabbing the iPad with one hand from those sides! The corners and top and bottom rails ( again in landscape orientation ) hold very well, but the other two adjacent sides just pull away too easily. I feel this is not a good design feature, but because of the generally great design and build quality of this case, I am going to try and live with material/design flaw and see how I “deal” with this flaw. Next. Only cutouts for all of the side control buttons instead of built-in, raised buttons that my wife’s ZUGUcase has. No ventilation holes/slots in the back of my iPad Pro case. My wife’s ZUGUcase has ventilation slots to allow heat dissipation and cooling. Do not know how the lack of ventilation openings in the back of my my iPad Pro case will affect my iPad Pro, long term. Also, her iPad has protective microfibre padding on the inside of the backcase and the inside of the top lid/cover. My ZUGUcase only has protective microfibre padding in the inside of the top lid/cover. No protective padding inside of the back cover. The opening for the headphone jack is too small for my more expensive, higher quality Audio Technica audio closed cans with a mini jack adapter to fit through. So, I will not be able to use these headphones with this iPad Pro case. I will need to look at/purchase better sounding wired headphones/earbuds, with the mini jack, that will connect through this case. I really like how the case top lid/cover sits inside the rim/sides of this case and keeps it from moving about while you are carrying/holding your iPad. Still, a great iPad case for a great discounted price!

I’ve had a minimalist cover for my big iPad for about a year, and I’ve never really been too pleased with it. There just wasn’t much there. I’m a lot like George Costanza - I’m very “careful” with money (ok, I’m cheap, what can I say?). I immediately dismissed this case as an option based on the price. However, after looking a several options that were essentially closes of each other, and not too different than the one I was replacing, I re-examined this one, read some of the reviews,and decided to give it a chance. Good move. There’s nothing too cosmic here - pull it out of the box, remove the shipping foam, insert the iPad. Done. This offers full edge-to-edge protection, and is significantly more sturdy than the light weight case I had. That’s not to say it’s bulky, just that there’s more material covering the iPad, which is more material to absorb any unfortunate accidents. It also makes it easier to hold. The enclosure includes magnets in the cover for smart on/off, and they give a very positive feedback when you close the cover. And one thing I really like is the slight recess on the right side to facilitate opening - my old cover was visually indistinguishable as to which side was the hinge, and which side actually opened. On this one, the cover has a slight tab that fits into a small recess. This case perfectly aligns the screen cover over the screen, locks it in place, and subsequently makes it easier to open when you’re re ready to get back to your gam...eh, I mean your “work”. There’s a kickstand on the back of the case that is held in place by magnets when not in use - nice. There are 10 grooves on the lid that provide lots of viewing angle options. They also magnetically hold the kickstand in place - also REALLY nice. Lastly, there’s a small sleeve to hold the Apple Pencil, which I really appreciate. If you’re on a tight budget, or just don’t see the sense in paying this much for a cover, then by all means, get one of the thinner covers. There nothing wrong with them, and they likely provide adequate protection for most day-to-day use. My second choice was the MOKO Premium Lightweight Shockproof Case. I liked the extra ventilation it provides. Ultimately, I opted for the $60 case, and thus far, I’m convinced it was the right decision. My only nit is, as another reviewer stated, when using the kickstand, the material that covers your screen is face down on your work surface. Potentially, it could pick up dirt and grime, and then deposit that on your screen when you close the cover. Just be careful about where you set this up, and you’re like going to be ok. I did not receive any form compensation for this review. This a a true and accurate description of my experience with, and opinion of, this product. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this case.

Just received my ZUGU IPad case. It was easy to install and it’s an exact fit. The buttons and camera are easily accessible without interference. Although the magnet stuck to the refrigerator, but the weight of the iPad (iPad Pro 12.9) made it slip, so I won’t be doing that. The different positions for the stand are great. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

This case has been well designed for the iPad Pro 12.9 1st gen tablet. It’s sturdy, holds the tablet securely and is aesthetically very pleasing. It does allow for lots of different angles for viewing plus those positions are very secure because of the design of the case. Just be mindful the case with the tablet is reasonably heavy due to its internal magnets but, this does not really bother me. The advantage of the magnets is that you can hang the tablet on any metal surface, such as a refrigerator, for viewing hands free. I have noted that the case sit very securely on a table cloth because the part that rests on such a surface is also of a fabric material. As a result if I wish to move the tablet I cannot slide it around but, must first lift it and then move it. I use my ipad as my defacto computer and therefore use an external keyboard. The combination works very well. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

Ich habe schon lange eine geeignete Hülle für mein iPad älteren Baujahrs gesucht. Die bisherige Hülle war eine Katastrophe, weil das iPad immer wieder wegrutschte. Umso begeisterter war ich von der hier angebotenen Schutzhülle für mein iPad. Das Teil ist einfach genial, weil Ich nun in verschiedenen Winkeln mein iPad aufstellen kann und durch den Magnet eine absolute Stabilität gewährleistet ist. Die Hülle ist zwar etwas schwerer, aber damit kann ich gut leben. An den Hersteller ein riesen Kompliment und auch wenn der Preis etwas höher ist, zahle ich diesen gerne, wenn ich eine entsprechende Qualität bekomme. Das ist hier der Fall. Daher kann ich Das Produkt nur empfehlen und würde auch doppelt so viel Sterne vergeben.

I was really reluctant to spend the money as it was a little more pricey than some of the other iPad cases for sale. I have an 2nd generation iPad Pro 12.9" screen that has all the bells and whistles and it works for what I need. My last iPad cover denigrated, so I was in need of a replacement. Pros, It is very well made, sleek yet has much better protection than the last two sleek cases I had previously. You can place the iPad in whatever angle is comfortable- there are 10 options that I have used thus far. Magnetic close when transporting - nothing is flopping around. Plus you have the option of hanging on any magnetic surface if you want. Cool feature I never had before. There is also a apple pen holder on the back. Very happy with the product. I would considering buying another ZUGUCASE for another device based on how much I like this case. Con:- pricey another Pro: BUT offers more protection than a $20 case and considering how much a new iPad costs...
