My hand surgeon recommended this for my arthritis pain which has gotten much worse since my hand fracture. It does offer quite a lot of support.Amazed at how fast it shipped, very pleased.

I have severe arthritis in the base of my right thumb. I need a brace all the time for the pain. During the day, I need a flexible brace. But at night, I want my darned thumb to not move at all, so I can sleep. This brace does it for me! It doesn't pull my thumb foreward into the palm (which would hurt like the dickens.) It imobilized the painful part of my hand, and lets me sleep the night through! I never have to worry about an incautious movement tweaking my thumb, and dragging me out of sleep with a yelp of pain.This sizing is rather deceptive. They use clinical terms to describe what to measure. Here's how I'd do it now. Flex your hand, like you're playing "cootchie coo" with a baby. (Your knuckles are straight, but the first joint is bent). The tip of the bent thumb joint is where you're going to start measuring. Now, flex your wrist. Where it actually BENDS, at the base of your thumb, is the other end of where you're measuring.When the brace is on, you should be able to bend the tip of your thumb, and your wrist, but no part of the thumb in between. (BLISS! and NO PAIN!)

I liked everything about it except the elastic around the wrist it shouldn't be elastic it should be solid because my elastic has giving out which makes it too loose but would buy again if it was solid material

I get "digital thumb" tendinitis with too much laptop work and phone use. This splint was recommended by an OT- hand therapist colleague- have used it several times and even bought a new one. This is the best one on the market and a few days of rest usually solves the problem. Does not interfere too much with your motion or cause skin irritation. However, velcro can snag your clothes, so be careful! Easy to hand wash and quickly dries.

Requires some assistance to get the positioning just right. Otherwise it be irritating and compound the problem.

The velcro is shriveling and deteriorating badly. I only use these to mountain bike and the velcro strap is failing badly.Example of a company trying to cut corners in manufacuring that turns a good product bad. I had a pair of these years ago that did not have this same cheap velcro strap and they were much stronger. Sad.
