Roland System-1 Plug-OUT Synthesizer - Software Synthesizer

The roland Aira System 1, perfect hands on synthesis and some of the most excellent plugouts, I got the free SH-101 plus i've bought the Sh-2 and along with the system1 synth engine with it's extra selection of waves with the free 1.2 firmware update you get a TON of capability in such a compact synth, works great with Logic pro X and also alongside my roland FA-06. simply Stunning and Roland have done a great job supporting and expanding the capabilities all year long. This offers users new and exciting synths as options, it's not a closed system..expect more as time goes on..I'm currently looking at adding the Pro Mars plugout as well..great time to get into making your own sounds.

Integrates well with other synths for live work. Useful preset banks, great fx!

Great bit of equipment, a wide range of sounds, easy to use.. no sequencer but a great hold function. The sounds are nice varied and deep.No velocity or aftertouch but if it’s your first and your like me who has a good midi keyboard you can work around that with the midi in. It’s polyphonic 4 voiced which is enough for what I like doing, keys are sturdy as is the whole keyboard. The knobs are firm feels good moving them.The fact it has to two oscillators which can be mixed in helps create the great sounds along with on LFO and on board reverb, delay, noise, colour, pitch.. it goes on. Saving your own sounds is easy and helps the creative process tons.I’m yet to use the plug out option so can’t comment but first impressions it’s reakky worth getting if you like making atmospheric weird background sounds.Having had the microbrute I would recommend the system 1 simply because of the options and on board effects.As I said I haven’t even tried the plug out part with the laptop and access the other Roland synths so I’m in for a treat.

Got this i a warehouse deal for £300. I think I saw another review indicating the limitations of fm sounds. Whilst I need to devote more time to working this out and getting to grips with the knobs on early use I would have to agree. So far most of the sounds have been cold and scratchy. I will persevere - I am confident the more I get used to it the better it will sound. On a separate note I have found the supporting software which allows for plug in patches to run different synth models impossible to navigate. I managed the inital os update ok but have had no success in loading in new synths. This may be due to the need to route this through a DAW and I supsect no chance with Reason which does not support VSTs. I don't understand it well enough for a definitive view but know that I haven't a clue how to get it to work with plug ins/outs. Star off for this and star for initial sound limitations. Will update after I have mastered it.

Absolutely awe-struck with this thing! Arrived yesterday morning as my first hardware synth (been using soft synths for ten years, played my friends hardware synths from Oberheim, Moog, Korg, Roland, VA synths, analogs from the 80's, played them all but never owned one until now) and i've loved every minute of it.A lot of the videos on Youtube sound pretty thin, but don't believe it, the System one produces some *brutal* sounds that are every bit as baller as synths three times its price. A lot of hints of Tron Legacy in it too, so if you enjoyed that OST then you'll f****ng *love* this synth.Some people will nitpick and twine about the keyboard not being touch-sensitive, or only having two voices, or something... I honestly can't fault it anywhere and if the key action is bothering you then tbh you don't deserve one :-/ It's designed for leads and hammering the hell out of the keys for badassery, delivers on all fronts. Don't be a girl, buy one and enjoy the hell out of it!

Worth it just for the 101 and the SH2. There's got to be a Juno or a Jupiter soon...

This is my first hard synth and it is amazing to play with! Only wish i could see the wave form i'm creating so lots of guessing on what i'm actually creating, lol. I haven't connected it to my Mac book pro yet so that is my next task (i don't anticipate any issue since the system 1 has all the midi and usb ports needed and lots of good reviews to do that). I purchased my system 1 from Amazon used for around $380 plus tax, great deal. Box was beat up but keyboard is in brand new shape, looks like a return. Some wishes for the system 1 ... 1) how about a disk or download of popular patches to be included with the system 1 package, 2) include a Roland tutorial dvd or link on the basics of synth signal flow and operation (the included user manual diagram is tiny text and very hard to read).

DAS IST NICHT SO ! ! !auch die Software für zusätzliche patches ist nochmal mit 145,-€ zu entlöhnen.USB-Kabel ist nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten. (richtig mies)der Support ist nur per mail zu erreichen und sehr dürftigRoland Homepage ist nicht vollständig auf deutsch.da könnte sich Roland mal eine scheibe bei NATIVE INSTRUMENTS abschneidendas war glaube das letzte gerät was ich mir von Roland gekauft haben.

I'm trusting the Roland Name and brand, I'm old school and Roland has always produced quality IMHO. Part1 of 3
