Q: Can this be used in a small fish tank?

Possible if put on corner of tank with angles. If tank has circular top, diameter cannot be greater than 10 inches since fountain is 7 inches, or else get longer version. Make sure debris or fish poop dont get into intake hole of pump. If outflow is weak, try trimming pipe to make it shorter so pump dont have to work as hard pulling water up. Experiment cause pump needs to be below water at certain depth to work. Height bettwen fountain and water level determines splash and trickling sound. Requires regular cleaning of all parts.

Q: Aside from the mold issue, does it have an on/off switch?

Hi, it does not have an on/off switch. You can add one where it plugs in to the wall, but it is not included.
