Regardless of it's shortcomings, I give it 5 stars!
Upon my initial observation of the box that this device was shipped in, I was kind of amazed at the quality of the packing and the device itself. I've been using this device for the past couple of days and am fairly impressed with the accuracy and sensitivity of the device. An absolute must for anyone with allergies, or if the household is getting sick for no apparent reason. I highly recommend you follow the directions, especially during the initial unpacking of the device. As recommended, you should leave the device outside in open air for at least 30-60 minutes before turning it on to allow all sensors to vent. Some sensors contain heating elements within it thats necessary for it to function. For best results, let everything air out before applying power. Once I got the device working, I was utilizing it to measure various areas. I took it to work to measure the air quality in one of the datacenter labs and had HCHO of 0.000, TVOC of 0.001, and PM2.5 of 000. The device pretty much provides real time stats because as I was working in the lab, every time I walked by the device, the readings changed very slightly (i.e. TVOC 0.001 increased to 0.005, PM2.5 went from 000 to 002, etc). Numbers all went back to zero after a few moments. This device is so sensitive, as I walked around my home, the measurements showed up in real time. When I walked into the hallway, readings dropped fairly low. Reason is we have a HEPA air filter in the hallway situated near the cat litter. This device is so sensitive, it can tell a difference when I drive down I-280 and I-101 with my windows down. Where I live, I-280 is a freeway completely surrounded by trees, whereas I-101 is mostly industrial. Readings are much lower when driving along I-280. See? Trees are very beneficial to help keeping our air clean! This device is so sensitive, it kinda makes going #2 fun. Because fecal matter releases VOCs due to the sulfurs, and many other chemicals used in your body for digestion, it will register a higher TVOC value on the device. Stinker the poop, higher the TVOC value! You or someone smokes? While smoking, run this device and see how detrimental smoking does to your air quality. Second hand smoke is no joke! Live in California like me? Take this device (rechargeable battery and portable, so convenient!) with you when you go outside to check your air quality due to the many wildfires going on in the state. Although this device will tell you your Air Quality Index (or AQI), it won't be able to do anything more than tell you. Very helpful to allow you to take extra measures to protect yourself (especially if you have asthma, such as myself). Because this device measures the separate AQI values in real time, use this device to check the effectiveness of your air purifier! Bought a new car? Take a reading with this device in your new car's interior. That new car smell, believe it or not, is the emissions of formaldehyde caused by glues and resins curing. Bought new furniture? Use this device to check the HCHO levels that new furniture has the potential of giving off. Most furniture is made of MDF, or particle board. Particle boards are bits of wood bonded by chemicals and glues that emit formaldehyde. What I thought could have made this product cooler: * Ability to save histograms when measurements is started. You have to be on the graphs page and leave it there to get historical graphs. If you leave the page and go back to it, you won't be able to view past measurements. * Ability for the device to save calibration data across power cycles. When you calibrate the device and zero it out, next time you power cycle the device the readings may be a bit different. * Ability to export results over time * Ability to change the user interface color schema This product is perfect for taking spot measurements to get a good idea of present environmental conditions. You won't be able to see past readings. I highly recommend getting this product!

Good product, poor battery.
This is easy to use, seems reasonably accurate for consumer purposes, and it held up well overall. I bought it in November 2022. It held up to bouncing around in a pick up truck for 4 years. I used it to check air quality in stables. The battery no longer holds a charge, though it still works plugged into power. My biggest disappointment is that the battery appears to be soldered in, so that it cannot be changed. That is a really silly waste. I probably won't buy the same one again.

Amazing Device No Home Should be Without!
My 6 yo daughter keeps waking up around the same early morning time with a very bad cough. Discussion between my wife and I thought it to be an eviromemtal issue since it kicked up soon after we started using our central outside natural gas heat. She already sleeps with a humidifier to help keep moisture in the air. We thought possibly a gas or exhaust coming through the vent. I searched online for a reasonable user friendly Air Quality Monitor and found this one. I'm no expert but it seemed easy enough to operate and set up. Although the enclosed user manual is a wee bit short on details, enough is there to get you up and running. Fully charged, calibrated and ready to see what could be causing my daughter to nightly wake up at 3 a.m. coughing. After allowing it to run all night I immediately checked it the following morning. It showed absolutely nothing but green and clean fresh air. No contaminates other than some point 003 dust. I knew I must have done something wrong so I called HVAC/Air Quality professional in. He came and checked the house out top and bottom. He found nothing also. I showed him my Air Quality Monitor I had used and he was glad to inform me that I had a good one to use and he said after looking at the logs that it was spot on with his findings. We are still searching for the cause of the cough but we know thanks to my purchase of this Air Quality Monitor from EG EVERHOLD LLC that our air is clean and that I have a nice tool to use to help keep it that way! No issues, No complaints and if I did have any I'm sure customer service would help immediately. A plus is that you can check the air quality anywhere also. Use with the enclose ac charger or with the self contained battery, either way I'm glad I bought one!

That's when all the really BAD numbers came in
I wish I could evaluate the accuracy of the readings. I bought as a test for a home I'm renting after Hurricane Harvey in Houston. I followed the directions to the letter. I gave it 6 hours out of the box before powering on. Then I followed the recalibration directions. Seemed to work fine- I got lower particulate readings inside, but high HCHO and TVOC readings inside. After opening all windows and airing out, the HCHO and TVOC readings were normalized, but Particulate matter was higher than before. Then I closed all windows and a few hours later, tested again and TVOC and HCHO were through the roof. Hmmm. Why the change??? Well, When I charged the unit between uses today, I placed it in the box it came in. Then after it was recharged, I resumed testing. That's when all the really BAD numbers came in. So maybe after sitting in off position within its own box for only a few hours caused horrible readings. The directions don't note this to be the case, but who knows. So - do I know if it works? Yes, it works. How accurate? No clue. I guess you'd have to get a bunch of different meters plus a known validated one to test that. The directions say it's 'calibrated out of the box' which clearly isn't true if I can't charge mine while it rests on the box without getting funky readings. Maybe the cheaply made Chinese box contains THAT much VOC, lol. In either case, if you want to compare room to room figures, and/or want to compare before/after your cleaning/dusting company comes, this will do the trick. But I wouldn't rely on its actual numbers when trying to figure out if a building has mold or other indoor air issues.

A necessity for pet bird owners.
I almost died. But first, I cannot recommend this enough for pet bird owners who necessarily must be paranoid about air quality for all species of pet birds. Their efficient respiratory systems are exceptionally sensitive, hence the inhuman practice of using canaries in coal mines to warn of deadly chemicals. When moving into my new apartment, I was originally excited to hear that the natural wood floors were refinished. Unfortunately, the contractors were so low class it was right before I moved in. I already had to move my pet cockatiel to my brother's apartment for the big move. Had I not, the bird would have surely died. I ALMOST DIED. When sleeping in the apartment for the first time, I woke up nauseous, exceptionally confused, and dizzy. The constant plastic jar smell made me buy this device, still more concerned for my bird. When I received it, the monitor boomed up to HCHO .500 with VOCs at 7.500. That didn't seem right. I calibrated it on my balcony. After the fresh air nulled the standard, I tested again. I got the same result! The EPA officially says it's because my apartment is hot from the plentiful sun, sealed windows, and low humidity, caused the formaldehyde to off-gas like an oven. Since then, I have taken steps to manage formaldehyde spikes and everything-else spikes from the July heat. I mainly open windows with battery powered fans (OPOLAR brand) that work past power outages: one side of the house has intake fans and the other side of the house has exhaust fans. Charcoal bags, air purifiers, and air purifying plants only made .010 of an HCHO differenceโwith this device letting me know! Only venting gets the sin out. It is bright, decent battery, stands up well on the stand. I love plugging it in and checking on it in the center kitchen. The alarm is actually useful for local notification because it beeps when fresh air changes to less fresh air, "Unqualified," as pollution. Helps you understand if what you're doing is effective. I recommend only the original gray model. They all have different user interfaces. The seller needs to divide them into different pages. I bought the white model because it had humidity and temperature as well. When checked against a more dedicated Grovee temp/humidity monitor, it was always approximately 5-7 degrees off and 10-12% humidity off: too much to be useful. Its HCHO and VOC was precise, but it had no alarm. What would make this amazing is wifi notifications along with IFTTT integration to exhaust the house when levels are high. Radon testing would be the best.

This device is SO HANDY!!! A real help!
OK so this device is fantabulous!! OK you MUST calibrate it correctly!! Follow the directions for the first callibration ever - I think that might be 20 minutes outside. Don't ever callibrate it inside. So each time, I set it outside in the clean air and let it do it's countdown in the fresh air. Now, I take it where I want to go and set it in the room for about five minutes. It has helped us SO MANY TIMES! We bought furniture from "The Cannery." It came with quite a smell. I am sensitive to some odors, what was the smell? Was it Mahogany or was it something else? This device told me that the odor was NO PROBLEM at all, so the smell was probably fresh mahogany!! Next, we were kitchen cabinet shopping. Didnt want to spend an arm and a leg. Went to to Kitchen Cabinet store in which the prices are AMAZING. They only sell like five colors of cabinets. The cabinets really looked amazing, even saw that the boxes were made of plywood. The cabinets were shipped in, and then the company would put them together - or you could yourself. We were very close to making an order but before hand, I just had to wonder... Why were they priced so well? I sat out in my car with my device callibrating up through my sunroof on the top of my car in the fresh air. It was time to go in the store... Hiding my device, I went into the store... Only moments later heading over to the cabinet section - "BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!" My device was sounding! Quick, I stuck it in the drawer of the cabinets - it was in the RED!! A little longer and I set it in another cabinet (it doesn't keep beeping) TALK ABOUT TVOC'S!! The formaldahyde was also elevated. OKAY SO YEAH. So just the AIR in that warehouse had elevated TVOC's and formaldahyde, I was concerned for the safety of the workers. They were mostly young and most likely naive to what they were breathing. I did a little research and after speaking with someone knowledgeable on the levels, I learned that the levels in the air shouldn't harm the workers, and that if I bought the cabinets, I'd probably need to air them out or run a fan on them - sound like for weeks or months to help bring those levels down. We've used this multiple times, and let a friend use it... It's fascinating, a great tool to help steer you in what you want to buy. DON'T BE ALARMED and freaked out - understand it's not PPM's - it's a different measurement. Be careful not to freak out and become a "Karen" when something reaches a high number, orange or red color and starts beeping. But, know it's helpful for you to help you make healthier buying deciscions.

Seems to work with VOC's but not with particlulates
I'm not sure if the VOC sensing is working, but it might. I do know that it doesn't work with particulates. I my case wood particles. I put it right by a circular saw and made a cut. Nothing showed up at all with either of the particulate size indicators. Since I do mostly woodworking in my shop, this is not good. Returning it.

Decent Air Quality Measurement Device
I purchased the unit to help determine TVOC issues with a new house I purchased. We told the builder to use no-VOC wall paint and very low or no-VOC paint for cabinets and trim, but they chose a high-VOC enamel for some of the cabinets (stupid) that are still off-gassing 4 months after being painted. The device works very well if you keep in mind that it has to be properly calibrated before taking measurements (read the manual). This requires 30 minutes of fresh air and using the "calibration" menu item. I don't have expensive monitoring equipment to compare this with, but I have tested several homes and it provides a good comparison. Pros: Seems to do a reasonable job of measuring relative air quality when you want to compare locations. Easy to use Cons: Battery usage is high, pretty much need to charge after 2 uses. It takes at least 5 to 10 minutes to get a stabilized reading of VOCs, and the screen shuts off before you can get stabilized reading causing a 3 minute wait to get another reading.

Simple to use
There was nothing I disliked about this.... Once calibrated, it showed me that I had a big problem with my air quality due to VOCs from an item I had purchased .. I removed the item..I removed the problem...not confused, headache gone, coordination back to normal, asthma clear...if in any doubt as to what you're breathing is safe...GET ONE...I was a novice in these matters...this cleared my mind and also my breathing.. EXCELLENT

Easy to use
I have never bought or used a product like this before, so this review is only relevant to this being my first air quality monitor. Having said that I have no reason to 'disbelieve' the data it's presenting to me. I bought this after being hospitalised due to a rare bacterial infection which, possibly coincidentally, occurred after I had removed some tiles in my bathroom after spotting a leaking toilet seal. For peace of mind, once I had returned home, I thought I'd buy an air quality tester to see the state of the air quality in my flat. I'd already covered the open tile area with pvc sheeting. The air quality in various rooms, including the bathroom area, was of good quality. I placed this monitor inside the pvc sheeting (and re-sealed it) to see what it said about the air there (that had been open prior to my hospitalisation). It came up as 'unsatisfactory' - which may have been the cause of my illness. I would say this gives you peace of mind if you suspect the air in a room is not of acceptable quality, or gives you the evidence to take corrective steps. After replacing the tiles and re-grouting the bathroom that had the missing section, the air quality is reading 'good' again. I would recommend this to give an indication if something may need further investigation.

Long set up and inacuratec
Easy to read easey but long set up .bought this to take Mobil readings other than move the two air purifiers around .it showed good clean air yet both air filters that ar pp5 and hep showed bad air .you could also smell the air was bad with formaldehyde.no good for what I wanted .poor readings

Not accurate?
I bought both types to compare readings from this supplier and the reading for VOC is ready 4 x more on this one then the other! So something isnt right. Im going to buy another identical to the other one to compare the 2 against the original....will update. And PM10 & PM2.5 never differ from each other which seems odd.
